I agreed with your definition of what investment is. To add to your definition we can also called it an Assets since there is probable of future inflow of economic benefits. Many who are investing or buying bitcoin today are buying it with mind to realize profits in the near future.

Crypto at the moment can be said to be stable, not really sure the price will plunged down beyond what it has reduced to. You observed many coins have reduced below 80% of the alth and some are even more than that. Personally I don't see much doom anymore

I know few of us started usage of BTC from Ponzi Scheme before we metamorphosis to Cyrpto-trading. I'm sincerely sorry for your lost. What I can say is that you may see it as a loss now if you sell it off and quit cryto, but if you are a holder and also follow updates and read crypto currency news you can trade your btc for fiat and started recovery bit by bit until you are break-even.
