Re: [Boxing] Mario Barrios vs Manny Pacquiao WBC Welterweight Title - July 19

I don’t really get why Mayweather is suddenly being brought up. Yeah, he beat Pacman, but he’s been retired and there’s no sign he’s coming back.
Sadly, it is inevitable to happen. A lot of people have still not moved on from that fight and want to see a rematch. Speaking of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, I saw several articles where Pacquiao called out Mayweather and asked him to fight again just after his fight against Barrios.

Can you share these articles?

In any case, there was an interview with Floyd Mayweather where he said that he will not fight in a rematch against Pacman because they are not only very much old already but this might also destroy their legacy in the sport of boxing.

And, to nobody's surprise, Tyson Fury has announced his un-retirement:

https://talksport.com/boxing/3400024/tyson-fury-retirement-anthony-joshua-oleksandr-usyk-daniel-dubois/

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/tyson-fury-boxing-fight-news-35590986

He aims to return next year and allegedly is in talks wih Turki Alalshikh about a 3-fight contract. Obviously he expressed his willingness to fight Usyk for the 3rd time.
He also excluded fights with Kabayel or Parker, with whom he previously trained and said they are like brothers to him.

Yes, this is not very much shocking anymore. @hilariousetc has speculated already since the beginning of the month that he will unretire and fight Usyk for the 3rd time. He has created a thread for this.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5548722.0

However, does everyone think this 3rd fight will be very attractive for the fans? We have seen already from 2 fights that Usyk is a much better boxer than Fury.

These other companies that have followed Michael Saylor's strategy that are also beginning to buy bitcoin to hold in their treasury to cause a pump on their company's stock, what does everyone speculate on this? Will this create another overinflated bubble that will pop and cause bitcoin to dump similar to the bubble pops before?

There is a hedgefund manager who has lost money from his hedgefund's investments who is presently creating a treasury company. I am very much aware that this is for an altcoin, however, this can also be created for bitcoin and the argument is similar.

It seems unbelievable that you have been a member of this forum for so long. There would be a bubble if bitcoin were worthless. You think bitcoin is worthless? On the other hand you don't seem to understand how bitcoin treasury companies work.

It also very much is unbelievable that you do not understand what are market bubbles or cannot you believe that market bubbles will be an occurrence on very speculative markets similar to bitcoin. Considering that a -70% or more dump from the top that has occurred already 3 times on bitcoin is not a bubble pop? This would be headshaking, I reckon.

@zasad@. Agreed if they are longterm holders. However, I was talking about the late buyers of the market at present who certainly got excited on the hype that altcoin season has retired like they were waiting for their favorite movie franchise's next movie release on theaters heheheh. These types of buyers usually have no patience.

On the market, it appears that this will end the week with a dump despite the good outcome of the Donald's cryptoweek.

Re: Arthur Hayes bitcoin market diaries
by

I considered Arthur Hayes to be something similar to Jim Cramer when I created this thread. Someone who is wrong most of the time on the predictions. However, there is an argument that people can be wrong until they have made a correct prediction.

Will Arthur Hayes' prediction on a bitcoin pump to $250k become real?

Who will buy the debt? Stablecoin issuers.

As the total market cap of crypto rises, a portion of that is stored in stablecoins. The vast majority of these stablecoin assets under custody (AUC) are invested in US Treasury bills. Therefore, if the Trump administration can provide a favorable regulatory landscape for TradFi to participate and invest in crypto, its total market cap will surge. Then the stablecoin AUC rises automatically, which creates more buying power for Treasury bills. US Treasury Secretary Bessent will continue to issue vastly more T-bills than Treasury notes or bonds to be purchased by stablecoin issuers.

Now Trump and Bessent have squared the circle:

They copied China and created an American fascist economic system to produce the wartime goods needed to continue dropping bombs indiscriminately.

The credit growth-inspired financial asset inflationary impulse is directed at crypto, which dutifully screams higher, and a wide swath of the population feels wealthier due to their sick gains. They will be voting Republican in 2026 and 2028 … unless they have a teenage daughter … or maybe plebes always vote with their wallets.

A rising crypto market creates massive inflows into stablecoins pegged to the USD. These issuers invest their AUC in newly minted T-bills, which finance the ever-expanding federal deficit.

The kick drum is thumping. The credit is pumping. Why are you not fully invested in crypto? Don’t be scurred of tariffs, of war, or of random social issues.

My year-end targets:
Bitcoin = $250,000
Ether = $10,000

The TV personality said live on CNBC that he is buying Bitcoin. He made the statement during a segment of Squawk on the Street.

Joe McCann, the founder and CEO of crypto hedge fund Asymmetric Financial, is set to become the CEO of a new Solana (SOL) crypto treasury company called Accelerate according to pitch documents seen by Unchained.

The firm intends to go public via a SPAC with the blank check vehicle Gores X Holding.

For McCann, news of this new venture comes at an awkward time, as he has been the talk of the crypto industry over the last day because of reports that Asymmetric’s liquid fund is down 80% so far this year. The broader crypto market is up by almost $600 billion year to date and bitcoin itself set an all-time high above $123,000 last week.

@zasad@. It appears that you were very much correct! Altcoins have clearly been dumped on the late buyers' faces with their mouths open. They are presently holding with a loss and the market will certainly test their patience heheh. If they will not witness the next pump within 1-2 weeks they will certainly also sell with a loss before the market can pump again. This will cause the late buyers before to be late buyers again hehe.

Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs. Bud Crawford September 13
by

on 23/07/2025, 03:56:30 UTC
Since Pacquiao's fight is happening this week, this Alvarez vs. Crawford fight also showed up in my news feed so I searched for it here on bitcointalk. And yes, there's already thread about Alvarez vs. Crawford and here it is. lol

Eventhough I'm Filipino, I'm actually more excited about this fight compared to Pacquiao vs. Barrios.

I think Canelo vs. Crawford will either end in draw or Crawford will win. I voted for draw in the poll. Because their age difference isn't that big. And yes they pretty the same for me.
I thought Canelo was the older one, but when I checked their tale of the tape it turns out Crawford is older he's 37 while Canelo is 34.

Anyway, are there already market odds available for this fight?

On the argument for a draw, this might be similar to Keith Thurman's argument when he bet the draw on Pacman vs. Barrios. He said that the powerful owners of Las Vegas casinos do not want Pacman to lose heheheeh.

Is there an argument that Las Vegas does not want the underdog Bud Crawford to lose for this fight? Also, what result would make an immediate rematch a certainty? I reckon this would be a split decision victory for Bud or a draw hehe.

Also, you want Pacman vs. Boots Ennis? I will be sorry for Pacman fans because Boots will give him a knockout similar to the knockout he received from Juan Manuel Marquez. I am quite certain of this.

I don't think Pacquiao will fight Boots Ennis, he's a very dangerous opponent for Manny at this stage of his career. They chose Mario Barrios because he's considered the weakest among the current welterweight champions. So if Manny does return to the ring, I believe they'll pick an opponent with a similar caliber to Barrios. Although names like Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero have been mentioned, I still think both are too risky for Manny.

He was only asking if Pacman vs. Boots Ennis will be a good fight hehehe.

In any case, agreed. Pacman's team wIll never accept this proposal if it will arrive on his side of the negotiation table. Pacman is a type of fighter who does not fight for money. He is also fighting for legacy and being knocked out in his older stage and retired because of this will not be good for legacy. Also, the risk of brain damage.

@zasad@. On who needs them, I reckon their clients because instead of a CBDC, they can use virtual payments through their issued stablecoins. However, I am not certain on their implementation but we can be quite sure that if the decide to enter the stablecoin business, they have a roadmap for this already.

In any case, Polymarket is also speculating on whether to issue their own stablecoins hehehe. I reckon yield products for much these stablecoins will be another big storyline for the cryptospace.

Polymarket, the cryptocurrency-powered prediction market that recently attained a billion dollar valuation, is deciding whether to introduce its own customized stablecoin, or accept a revenue sharing deal with Circle based on the amount of USDC held on the platform, according to a person familiar with the plans.

Polymarket’s motivation to create its own stablecoin is simply to own the yield-generating reserves that back the large amount of Circle’s USDC dollar-pegged token used to make bets on the popular betting platform, the person said.

It appears that the lawyers will move for a mistrial. These government lawyers are trying to manipulate the case, I reckon. However, I predict that if the mistrial request is granted, the DOJ might not again press charges on Roman Storm. I speculate that they know they do not have a case against him as a moneylaunderer. Also, this case will create a very bad precedent for many companies if the government lawyers win this.

Attorneys for Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm might move for a mistrial after learning prosecutors called a witness with a tenuous connection to the controversial crypto protocol.

If the request were granted, Storm’s criminal trial would end, though prosecutors could choose to retry the case with a new jury.

What is everyone's speculation on the Trump pump? We have been waiting for this, however, the pump has always been answered with a dump and a resistance. What will occur for the rest of this year? Will this only be a continuation on what has been happening or will we witness a big pump similar to the bull markets before?

We have received the biggest news update for the cryptospace, however, there is no Trump pump, only a pump replied with resistance!

@Balmain. Agreed on that it needs to mature, however, I disagree to what you are implying that it might not become the next trending storyline. I speculate that there will be a big dump on the cryptospace and the investors of cryptocoins will move some of their funds to RWA for safety while the cryptospace is on a bear market. This might occur on 2026.

@zasad@. I reckon that this not only blah blah blah for Citibank. They are top 3 bank in America with international branches. If they do not join the stablecoin business they are risking becoming only a top 4 or top 5 bank if the other banks begin their own stablecoin business.

Stablecoins have become a big business with Tether having a net profit of $13 billion on 2024. They also have only over 100 employees hehehe. This implies that the expenses for doing this business is very low but the profit is very high. It will be very headshaking for Citibank if they will say no to this.

@zasad@. It appears the pump on Ethereum and Solana has been sustained because of ETF buyers for Ethereum and the speculation of near approval on Solana ETFs. However, on Bitcoin it appears that the pumps have been received with resistance after the pump has ended in July 14 hehehe.

Does this imply that altcoin season has arrived? Solana is back on $200 already and Ethereum might pump to $4000 next week or it might also reach this before next week.

@Cointxz. It appears that the majority draw is the perfect decision for both of these boxers hehehe. The younger Barrios can continue to be champion and having fought Pacman is very much good for his record. On Pacman, he has proven that he can fight competitively against a younger boxer on a championship fight and he also got his big purse heheheh.

I am very much excited to see another fight for Pacman. I wish he will not retire if he can give this type of effort in the ring.
I expect a rematch between the two, but only if Pacquiao still have the gas to fight yet again for that title.

PBC is the winner because they made huge money on this fight. At the same time, both fighters are winners as well because they got a lot of money. Fans especially those who came because they want to see Pacquiao win ended up getting disappointed because of the result that they didn't expect. I'm a Filipino, and I've seen Pacquiao fought in his prime years. He's beyond his prime years already so I expected less from him.

I expect a rematch between the 2, but if Pacman wants to fight another fighter, I wonder who will it be? I wonder if he can fight for other welterweight titles since Ennis is going up to super welterweight.

In his older age, he needs a minimum recovery time of 1 year and this might be the shortest if he wants to chase the welterweight championship and have a rematch against Barrios. If he will rest longer than this, I reckon that he will miss his chance if Barrios will be defeated by a stronger boxer that Pacman will have a more difficult time to fight.

Also, you want Pacman vs. Boots Ennis? I will be sorry for Pacman fans because Boots will give him a knockout similar to the knockout he received from Juan Manuel Marquez. I am quite certain of this.

Re: Retail investors paticipation. How to monitor it?
by

Not 100% related to the topic, but Benjamin Cowen posted an interesting metric of Historical Social Metric Risk:
https://x.com/intocryptoverse/status/1946721969262477783

I don't think the metric is accessible for free, though.

Anyhow, from the comments I understand it represents retail interest via social media activity (e.g., YouTube views/subs, Twitter mentions). But the big question is whether it's bullish or bearish.
Bullish interpretation: it proves that Bitcoin is underhyped and there's still potential for growth.
Bearish interpretation: retail is simply not interested in Bitcoin and won't be putting their money in it.

I'd add a neutral interpretation to it: everybody already knows what Bitcoin is. It has become mainstream and purchasable even on non-crypto finance apps, therefore people could be investing in it without talking about it as much as they did in the past.

My interpretation, when retail has become very interested, this is where the dump by the whales begins heheheh. This implies that for how many bull markets, retail has always used as the exit liquidity and the next arrival of the bubble pop will not be very much different hehehee.

@zasad@. Where are you? We have been talking about this. Your speculations will also be very useful in this thread hehe.

@zasad@. It is the beginning. Did they mention which blockchain they will use to issue their stablecoins? I predict that this will be on Ripple because it appears that they have created a few banking partnerships already. However, this might also make this an isolated issuance because there no ways to bridge from Ethereum or Solana to Ripple.

Citi might be correct, it will only be a good opportunity for them if this is in Ripple because if this is issued in Ethereum or Solana, their stablecoin will certainly create liquidity inflows through Curve or Aave and the others hehehe.

On your argument that this is a large inflated bubble, I very much agree. However, I would also argue that it is not yet too inflated hehehee. But it is already beginning. These dead companies that are being given life again and start buying bitcoin and other cryptocoins to hold in their treasury to pump their own stock is creating the next big bubble pop.

On when will this bubble pop occur, we cannot be certain. If there are people predicting the bubble pop, it is not yet the time. However, if the same people are very much bullish like there will be no bubble pop, this will be the time hehe.
I also think that the bubble is too small, and it can attract many more hamsters.
And then we can say this is what decentralization leads to Smiley So welcome to safe digital slavery.

Hehehe yes, however, similar to what we have noticed, the price pumps on the cryptospace are not much following the hype. I speculate that the next pump if there will be no usual resistance that have occurred for this present bull market might be the pump that will inflate the bubble and cause the big bubble pop that will make the cryptospace enter the bear market.
