Based on the previous experience of bitcoin going from 1 to 32, and provided a RALLY would start now, is there a way to determine how fast it could go to that point again and even higher?

I am currently being bullish on bitcoin because I see that it won't dip below 3.80.

my crystal ball says it's gonna hit 32 in about 348hours from now.

two cards, one monitor linux desktop
by
being

Hey.

I have two cards and one monitor. I want to be "stuck" on one screen only (so my mouse cursor wouldn't slide on the other screen), so I made two different xorg.conf files and made one initialize one card and second the second card. I used gdm for my desktop and xinit -config xorg2.conf -- :1 to "activate" the second card.

But the problem is, that when I run poclbm.py it hangs till I ALT+CTRL+F9 to activate the second cards screen :1
So I'm only able to use the main desktop card with this setup.

Basically what I need is two active cards, but only one "active" screen.

Any advice to make it function?

Thanks.

there's still a chance to get them back, if you didn't write anything to the sectors the wallet.dat was at... there's a guide somewhere also. try searching the forum

Have you tried linking the first card to your monitor and the second to a dummy monitor with a single xorg.conf file?  Scroll up to find my example of pointing my cards to a dummy monitor and compare the file with the one generated by
Code:
aticonfig --initial

Tried. The cursor can still slide to the other screen/monitor, but the transition from one screen to the other seems to be without lag now.
Doesn't solve the problem, but at least helps out a bit. Smiley
Thanks.

This doesn't seem to apply to some people in this thread, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Undervolt & underclock the card and run it at lower fan speeds. Works wonders for me. Smiley
I have made two scripts for this.. one for when I'm afk and one for when I'm using the computer. Each script sets appropriate clocks, volts and fan speeds and life's good.

This is most likely easily fixed by adding some lubricant. I've 'fixed' quite a lot of fans with the same symptoms this way. There are tons of guides for this also. Some random one I googled - http://www.techrepublic.com/article/quiet-noisy-computer-fans-with-a-drop-of-oil/5034842

Has anyone actually done any maths about the negative buffer? Like how long in reality would the delay be?
I see a lot of people crying about it, but it seems as if many of them don't really understand what would the negative buffer really mean. It's not like you would get less btc for the work done. It would only mean, that the pay would be delayed a bit. Even if the buffer stays constantly negative, you would still get paid, when new blocks are found. But with a tiny delay.

You don't need to crossfire them.
Just enable the card from your OS. You just won't be seeing any picture from it on the bootup, since the other card is the main one.

Arsbitcoin has been the most reliable and the best pool in every other way for me. Donation changed. <3

Nice Smiley  I'm not knocking anyone for going for 0%, I mean, at the end of the day, I'm sure most of us are in this to make a profit and every bit extra helps.  I'm just saying that BT is offering us a great pool/service and it sucks he's having to pay for a lot of it out of pocket.

Don't worry, I didn't change because of your post. I actually read it afterwards. Cheesy

Just looking at the latest numbers and of the top 40 hashers on the hash rate chart, only 13 people are donating above the .52% average.  C'mon guys...BT is running this thing out of pocket.  You all know it's the best pool around.

You can't spare a .5 or 1% donation to help him cover the pool costs?
Yes, I have to admit I have been greedy with my 0% donation. But when you think about it... 1% or even 0.5% is actually NOTHING to spare... And if everyone did spare this nothing, it would add up to quite something. Smiley

I guess it has quite a lot to do with personal preference.
I have tried running both and for my setup windows beats linux easily in every angle.

I use cables, keeps things way cooler and you don't even need to mess with fan speeds.

wat? cables?
yes, cables!
