Selling BTC remotely to a bitcoin ATM
by

Just came across this, looks like an interesting way to get cash quick for bitcoin. You can do it on any device with any wallet and it tells you when the cash is ready.

https://blog.bitaccess.co/bitaccess-cash-send-bitcoin-remotely-cash-out/

Anybody try this yet? How did it go?

Why are wallet confirmation times SO SLOW?
by

on 22/02/2016, 17:53:31 UTC
Just read this post on block confirmation times: https://blog.bitaccess.co/block-confirmation-myth/

What's the best wallet for fast confirmation other than Coinbase? I don't want to use that... Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!

Where Did The Name "Bitcoin" Come From?
by
bitcoinik
on 11/06/2013, 00:39:13 UTC
It could come from "b-money", the essay by Wei Dai from 1998 that was cited in Satoshi's paper on Bitcoin. Or it could come from something decentralized like "BitTorrent" combined with coin. I'm not sure, what do you think?

Re: Why Ripple™ is against everything Bitcoin
by

I've been spending a lot of time reading the Ripple wiki, and I like what this involves. It seems a bit complicated for a basic user to understand right away, but the premise behind it seems really solid.

I especially like the fact that all the XRP has already been created. To me, I still find this concept of mining a bit confusing. I can't imagine what the general public would think a la Bitcoins.

My question to you in response to your post is this: how can individuals help to drive adoption? When I see a bug, I post it in github, but I'm hoping that perhaps there are other things that I could do to help. I'd like to get involved because this is a really easy system to move money around in but really needs community involvement to work.

What do you think about Litecoin? Will Ripple support Litecoin at some point?

Thanks for this, I'm definitely going to touch briefly on some other cryptocurrencies. It's just that the editor I pitched the story to seemed to like the idea of presenting a specific alternative to Bitcoin.

Hi There:

I work as a freelance writer and I would like to write an article on the impact of Litecoin on Bitcoin. If there is anyone interested in going on record and has some experience with Litecoin, please send me a PM.

Thanks!

Re: Ripples and BTC
by

I'm curious to understand the reasoning behind making XRP a fixed money supply. From my own understanding, it seems that monetary policy needs to be somewhat elastic in order to keep inflation in check. From what I have read, Ripples are limited to a supply of 100 billion. Right now that seems like a huge number, but as we've seen with Bitcoin there is a lot of room for digital currency to grow. Where did the 100 billion number come from?

Re: Ripple: A Distributed Exchange for Bitcoin
by

I like the idea of Ripple because it is way easier to move money around than with Bitcoin. That has been the main problem with Bitcoin - actually acquiring it. It seems like the price volatility we're experiencing with BTC has to do with so many people trying to figure out how to get their hands on them...

Have you considered the possibility of changing your commission structure? They way it is currently calculated by percentages is not typical of trading exchanges, at least not in the United States. To help provide liquidity, you should charge a flat-rate commission fee. Then people don't have to think about percentages, and can factor in a flat fee to their trading strategies.

As an exchange you should benefit from people trading, as opposed to just the price of Bitcoins going up. That's what your commission structure looks like now. You are making it appear that you just have a vested interest in Bitcoins just going up, up, up.

There are going to be other exchanges coming online at some point because of Mt. Gox's problems. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so, but it would be nice if the exchanges worked on the same price - not sure how that would be possible though.

Just my two cents, but when joining and saw the restrictions I thought that it was a really good idea. This keeps the joint respectable Smiley

I'm glad this subject was brought up. I've been looking at mining and it seems better off if I just stick with obtaining my Bitcoins with cash.

I just started my own personal study of all things Bitcoin, and I would say that there are a lot of primers on what it is all about. Your angle on trying to inform those who don't know much about technology is admirable, and in the long run it will help you to understand everything much better to the point of explaining it to regular folks really well. I'd say keep on doing what you're doing as long as you're having fun with it.

I think bitcoins have a great future - it could have a enormous economical impact. Ever since the financial crisis I have wondered about banks. Well, Bitcoin provides an alternative to banking.
