[mining][pools] How to find working pool for a coin?
by
blackhorse7
on 17/11/2017, 15:54:08 UTC
Hello!
I wonder if is it possible to get a list of working pools for a coin. When I search for a pool and this is not listed on zpool.ca nor on announcement site (pools on announcement site are empty - 1-2 miners or even 0), what in this case? If I start on that empty pool I will never find any block, because many more hashrate is somewhere on he internet. Searching by google isnt giving answer too...
Is it possible to determine where a coin is mined? Is there something like explorer for that?

Please illuminate us. I know that this is important to mine on pool which has as much percentage of global hashrate as possible, to maximize blocks count found - in opposite if I mine on not popular pool probability to find the block on this pool is reduced and not fulfill bigger allotment from found block.
Situation with those chosing jobs on zpool is for us just incomprehensible, help us to understand why it is better

This pool works off of mining algorythms, not specific coins.
This keeps things profitable.
Now:
Code:

If server keeps things profitable, why gave to work on Orbit and Gun?
This is why I affraid that there may be something wrong (and not only me).
Noone is perfect, maybe there is a bug in server work giving procedure, and this is the right place to write about it

you must either set up your own wallet/blockchain/stratum and mine
or connect to a pool that only mines that coin.
When I do the same on altminer.net pool, it is doing properly, server is giving a job for coin chosen by password.
ok, seems legit

Hi
Why zpool show different neoscrypt coins in Last 50 Earnings?
I set c=INN,d=64 and c=ORB,d=64 but never see ORB but see Innova mixed with Trezar, Vivo and Gun coins  Undecided

There is an issue with stratum server:
When I set miner to mine a coin with password c=coinSymbol and proper wallet address for this coin, server is giving a job from another coin.
And it is not a job from currently most profitable coin, but probably random.
For now neoscrypt:
Code:
Orbit (neoscrypt) 1 ORB 1.051 2 301 988 (12%) 1 sec 45.8 MH/s 0.35046
Phoenix (neoscrypt) 25.1 PXC 1.332 1 557 393 (17%) 2 secs 59.2 MH/s 0.26436
Halcyon (neoscrypt) 5 HAL 0.804 945 426 (8%) 1 sec 46.3 MH/s 0.22785
Gun (neoscrypt) 150 GUN 1.957 803 705 (39%) 3 secs 93.8 MH/s 0.22095
Trezar (neoscrypt) 100.01 TZC 20.879 102 546 (25%) 38 secs 541.9 MH/s 0.18353
Vivo (neoscrypt) 5.0001552 VIVO 261.059 55 337 (23%) 8 mins 1.5 GH/s 0.16654
Innova (neoscrypt) 10.0003096 INN 763.542 18 268 (10%) 23 mins 3.8 MH/s 0.12725
My setup:
Code:
ccminer-neoscrypt -a neoscrypt -o stratum+tcp://neoscrypt.mine.zpool.ca:4233 -u i6zP24UQVBMLJ6P5CuRxXb9dYNZ5JWNaHo.evga -p neoscrypt,c=INN,stats
miner window - given jobs:
Code:
[2017-11-15 22:23:59] neoscrypt.mine.zpool.ca:4233 neoscrypt block 55338
[2017-11-15 22:25:04] neoscrypt.mine.zpool.ca:4233 neoscrypt block 55338

[2017-11-15 22:28:59] neoscrypt.mine.zpool.ca:4233 neoscrypt block 55339
Server gave jobs from Trezar and Vivo, not from Innova.

When I do the same on altminer.net pool, it is doing properly, server is giving a job for coin chosen by password.
Code:

Interesting news:
"Looks like StarbugBG (Martin Kuvandzhiev) snuck a little easter egg in form of a hidden 0.5% fee directly paid to his wallet via coinbase tx into the pool code he suggested everyone to use:  https://github.com/StarbuckBG/node-stratum-pool/blob/master/lib/pool.js#L267"

Very interesting discovery
Code:
OK - I was surprised to see that NiceHashMiner queiries the registry about 60 THOUSAND times a minute! Some of the query types might be worrying - e.g. it has a mailto check, and it searches all the private certificate locations e.g. Root and CA.

With proper care the card should last long enough for you to not want to use them for mining any more. Maybe only few faulty fans.
Proper care in my mind means:
- keeping the temp in check with moderate overclocking and undervolting
- keeping the cards in dry place and relatively cool place
- cleaning the dust from the fans every few months
+ if you like DIY, you could change fans from small high-speed to bigger low-speed and save original fans for selling cards 'like-new'

So it could explain differencies between hashrates reported by miner and by pools - if you have differencies, search for another pool-server with lower ping?

Do some research on auxpow and you’ll understand more. They’re free no extra work or loss of work from your GPU.

Maybe it is thay way you talking about crackfoo, but I am not a humanist, I prefer numbers. I think that 1 gpu could calculate 1 algorithm/coin a time so when it gets a job for 1 coin, will be not calculate another coin in the same time. And following, if it get a job for less profitable coin, will not get a piece of cake from more profitable coin when this block will be solved, because it wasnt participate in cooking. If those last 50 earnings are really for free, this is great. But I cant believe that it is exactly that way going

i thought that profitability has all hashrates\time of gen block\difficulty ect ?
am i wrong?
Profitability (mBTC/Gh/day) is a resolve of a formula containing those factors, about which JaredKaragen told. So I am a little bit confused, why those numbers are not telling about profitability but about some feelings

They profitability estimates you generally see are based on the last ~12-24 hours.   They are not "real-time".  Stratum picks the real time stuff internally.... and it's operation quite a mystery sometimes since I havent looked at the yiimp code..
I am telling probably about those current values - try to click on some algorithm on the right, then on the left you will see all coins adjacted to this algo with current profitabilities for each of them. This is about I am talking about

I imagine, that those numbers:
Verge (lyra2v2)   1560.410948 XVG   7.368 k   1 577 830 (2%)   41 mins   -   0.00318
Unitus (lyra2v2)   31.80890638 UIS   7.496 k   1 157 806 (0%)   42 mins   12.6 GH/s   0.00020
MobileCash (lyra2v2)   20.2 MBL   930.327   1 042 248 (46%)   5 mins   12.6 GH/s   0.00005
telling what profitable specific coin is. And for single algorithm higher number means higher profitability (linear). And following this, when 'stratum' picks less profitable coin, pool earns less. For me it looks like pool picks coins randomly - most profitable and less profitable too. Someone asked about that before in this topic.
Maybe I dont understand it well
