Merit is good and also a bad one. Merit helps the forum for spamming and also for having a good quality posters but the negative effect of merit is farming and abusing those sMerit to their alt accounts. It is very unfair to us, we're just new to this forum and even I am having good post I didn't receive merit.any opinion ?
Do not give incomplete picture here. It is true that some of the members tried to abuse the merit system by giving merit points to their alts but what happened thereafter . Most of these profiles got recognized and were given a negative trust by the senior members. In other words, merit system indirectly helping in eliminating these alt accounts from the forum. I agree that the merit points sent by them got wasted in the whole process and those merits should have gone to deserving members. Consider it as a sacrifice for betterment of the forum.
From a "lets make the world a better place perspective" should we support only bitcoin right now or altcoins also?
Everyone is just concerned about profit and will choose an option that is giving the maximum returns. When bitcoins was not there, most of the people were investing in stock or shares. Where all the support for shares went ? All human being are greedy by nature and it is obvious that they are not loyal to any investment option.
Only people really concerned about bitcoins are the developers. They must be seeing their project at their child and will do everything possible to ensure that it lives forever.

I think they're just rumors as of now. Correct me if I'm wrong.
First Facebook, now Google. I don't blame Google though. Those ICO and cryptocurrency are just either trash, scams, or shit ICOs. Remember those Binance, MyEtherWallet, etc phishing ads? Yep. People keep on clicking on those phishing link ads so Google has to do something about it, and here it is.

There has been news circulating about this all over the internet but we should only trust an official information from Google regarding this. As you mentioned, this is certainly possible keeping in mind so many suspicious ICOs being launched everyday. Because of few people , whole crypto community will suffer and even bitcoin prices will decline rapidly if Google really implements this. In the past Google has banned affiliate links like those of ClickBank and it affected the affiliate marketers badly.
Why alt coins are good for trade ? why not bitcoin ?
None of the alt coins is better in comparison to bitcoins. However, you may invest in some alt coins for diversification. If you do not want to invest in lot of two coins, I will suggest you two coins:
1) Ripple: Ripple is currently available for $0.8 only and it is expected to go to at least $5 by the year end. This gives a very good return to the investors and thus I have invested some money there.
2) Ethereum: If there is one coin which will survive even after bitcoin, it has to be Ethereum. That is why I suggest every investor to split money in between bitcoins and etereum and this will give maximum safety.
What would be the best setup to get started? I just wanted to know from anyone that has experience in this area.
There are a lot of factors involved in determining whether bitcoin mining will be profitable or not. Most important factor is electricity. In my country, electricity is quite cheap and thus I was thinking to start mining myself. However, when I started reading about how to do the set up, I realized that maintenance can be a tricky job for a person like me. I do not even have much time left regular job to read detailed tutorials related to setup and maintenance. Seeing these problems, I finally dropped the idea for some time.

Actually if these steps are implemented, it will become the most popular payment medium. Only that is required for mass adoption of bitcoins. I want to see bitcoins replacing PayPal and credit card payments in the coming years. If it is able to achieve that, no one can stop its value to rise to 1 million mark as well.
I got a news recently that PayPal is already going to increase its fees in April. Bitcoin developers should make good use of this and make the transaction fees lower for bitcoins. Everyone will then use bitcoins for transactions.

now there are some countries that began to issue a ban on the use of bitcoin, is there any influence on the country and of course its users in economic value?
There are a lot of positive benefits of bitcoins in my country:
1) A lot of people here are unemployed. I will say more than 50% of the educated youth is unemployed. Even most of the remaining people are underemployed, they are paid very less for the work they do. If bitcoin is allowed here, people could make some money with little investment per month.
2) Another thing is that as people earn more profit with bitcoins, they will also pay more tax. Revenue for government will thus increase rapidly which can be used for betterment of poor people.
I have a friend who bought bitcoin during this peak season. When the bitcoin price was 18-20k USD. Now he is sad and disappointed seeing that the current price has dropped to 50% and more and he is afraid he is going to lose all. In short he lost his hope and faith in bitcoin already. Has anyone here did the same as he did? If you did invest in that amount what did you do to your bitcoin, did you sell it or still holding it?
I am sure that many people would have invested at those levels and it must be very hard situation for them. When I see just 5% drop or more in bitcoin holdings, I get worried sometimes. Someone loosing 50% in few months will certainly fee bad especially if he has invested a large amount. Another problem with such a huge crash is that the money gets stuck for lot of time. No sensible person will withdraw in loss and thus wait for it to recover to $20000. Since, that is going to take time, money is stuck for that time period.
Is it because of the large number of altcoins?
There are a number of reasons. The alt coins are definitely responsible as more people are moving to alt coins and thus the total money invested in crypto is getting divided. There are a lot of other reasons that care causing the decrease in price. For instance, just like Facebook , Google has also announced that will ban crypto related ads from April 2018. There is still one month left but the negatives news is already a source of trouble to people associated with crypto community. Google has done this thing in past for other suspicious projects and they were badly affected.
i'm just curious if how many percentage of all the people on earth know about Bitcoin. in my country i think only 10% knows about it. post your opinion guys.
No one can give you exact data about this but let us see some stats:
1) I think that the number of people becoming aware about bitcoins must have went 10 times last year. Bitcoin received a lot of media coverage last year when it crossed huge levels like $10000, $15000 and even touched $20000.
2) In my country less than 1% of the total population is investing in bitcoins but I am sure that more than 20-30% of people here have heard about bitcoins. This is because it was covered in both TV news channels and print media recently.

When you talk about volatility, you should also consider the ups happening. Bitcoin was able to give returns like 100% in a month or even less because of this volatility only. I think the best time to buy some is when prices have dropped to 10% or more in a single day. I am using a similar approach for Ripple currently and making huge profit with this. In case you are worried with bitcoins being that much volatile, just withdraw all your holdings when the prices recover. It is anyway no a right choice now for short term trading.
It's really interesting because your goal is pretty easy. Bitcoin will reach 50K very soon i think it gonna happen this year maybe at summer. After you made this post, bitcoin is still hanging below $10000 and two months had already passed. Based on the performance of bitcoins this year, I do not think that it will be able to touch $50000 unless we hear some major announcement like major reduction in transfer fees. However, $30000 is still achievable by the year end and I will be content with that much growth as well. I have heard that PayPal is going to increase its fees all over the world and this may work in favor of bitcoins.

Source says nothing much about it. However, I heard same kind of news few months ago that Switzerland is going to invest into crypto currencies and they are making their own coin, something similar.
However the news soon got desiccated in the middle of no where but when the news came for the first time it was very chilly one for everybody here and everyone thought that it will bring the revolution in the crypto world. Unfortunately the idea went off soon and nothing much happened about it. Im not sure what are they bringing this time into effect but again if they do contribute to the crypto then its good for us. But lets see what they really do and then we could talk about it more deeply.

I was hearing a similar news for India but then a leading private company here announced its own coin. It was in the news for some time and then it settled down. I guess the government in India is still waiting to see if bitcoins are some sort of scam or not. They will never want to get associated with something resulting in huge loss for its citizens. Any ruling party will then have to allocate some money for supporting such people. Also, this can be a huge election issue here and a party may loose elections if a lot of people suffer because of this.

I'm not a fan of bounty hunting but since 9th Jan I'm participating in bounty campaigns to experiment something and also to see if it worth giving the efforts. Though I haven't earned $1 yet.
There is an issue with bounty managers, they are just exposing participants email ids. In my opinion, it is not a right thing at all, it's just unacceptable.
I've pmed some managers to hide the column, some of them did and some of them not.
We all know peoples sales email ids / databases to feed their greed. Even we can see so many sellers in this forum, I've even reported so many of them.

Then they can offer a newsletter campaign, whoever wants to join will join and others will skip if they desperately want to collect email ids of participants.

Can you tell which campaign is doing this ? I have not seen any signature campaign doing this so far from different campaign mangers in signature campaigns which are paying in bitcoins. It sounds really surpassing because there is actually no need of email for payment.
Till the problem gets sorted out, you can simply change your email on this forum and use a temporary mail that cannot be associated with your identity. You can do this by going in your forum settings and it will hardly take a minute.
Well to tell you truthfully... I really feel discouraged in this MERIT system they are putting in this Forum... for me it is a big discrimination to low ranking members like us... you deny us the opportunity to earn more and you deny us from being promoted to a much higher rank, I guess all those high ranking members will gonna still gonna receive the highest payment in every Signature Campaign and all of those low ranking members like me will maintain the most lowest payment in Signature Campaign.
You are a Full member and still consider your self as a low rank member ? I am still a junior member and more than happy with my performance here. This might be favoring the old senior rank members currently but with time all this will get even. Also, we may see some changes to the merit system is future and if that happens, the senior rank members who are posting useless posts should be targeted. There can be a rule like if a senior member is not able to get 5-10 merits in 6 months, he will move to lower rank.

I suggest that everyone has a sendable merit for example 50 smerit from newbie to legendary. These merit needed to send within a time day limit. 30 days for example. With a minimum 1 merit/person so it can avoid abusing merit that all is sending in 1 account and avoid creating multiple account and send merit one in all to rank his new one.
Means if everyone have merits to send and only 1 merit 1 account and recharge after a weeks they dont need to keep this merit for a long time and no chance to sell it because no one buy 1 merit(remind 1 merit one account)
anyone of us will have a chance to get merit if they did quality am I right?

I am not able to understand completely but I think you are suggesting that a member will be given 50 merits to spend per month and will be allowed to send max 1 merit to a member. What stops him from making 10 alt accounts and then ranking them up with those merit points. Those 10 alt accounts will also get 50 merit points each per month and this can continue forever. I like the merit system as it is and think that the admin must have given a lot of though while designing it.

New accounts don't have any merit/Smerit so multiple accounts is not possible, but I am pretty sure they will find some way to cheat the system.
All they can do is buy some merit points from members who are selling them. Such deals might be happening outside the forum and mods will not be able to catch all those deals. However, this will automatically decrease with time. After few months, the default merits of all the members will be spent and thus they will not be able to sell their merit points.
Then we will see merit coming from merit sources mainly and it is not possible to bribe merit sources to give merit points for money as they are established members.
I have seen many threads on merit. Some posted on a wrong section and members posting right there even when they know it is on a wrong section either to make up their post count.

Members now put up threads on merit issues, how to be merited and that... rather than throwing up bitcoin and related discussions.
Prior to the merit system, the automatic activities system upgrade never gave the forum this kind of infiltration threads on activities across the sections . And, even when they are, they were mostly on the meta section.
I think the reason for seeing such merit threads is because, it is manually given. If it were automatically merited, the infiltration of threads won't be here with us.

Giving merits automatically (like based on number of posts made in a fixed time period or length of posts) is a very bad idea in my opinion. If I remember correctly, some member already suggested this a month back. If this is implemented, members will abuse it a lot and it will make the merit system useless. They will keep making that number of posts with desired length (even if it makes no sense). With merits given manually, everything is being examined by real people. Load on moderators is also reduced as members are involved in this.

1) Most of these threads that look spam to you are made by new members who have very less knowledge about bitcoins and crypto. They are just asking their doubts which look funny to an experienced person.
2) Some members may be joining just to ask some questions here, if you restrict it from this, they will move to other platforms like Quora.
3) There is already a report to moderator option present on all options and you can use it if you find someone ding this repeatedly with wrong intentions.
