True, we were neglecting Bitcointalk a bit. We will change that going forward:)

History of the pool (project) & Braiins (company)

1. Pool project started by Marek Palatinus (a.k.a. "Slush") in 2010
2. In 2013 Braiins company takes over development of the pool with majority stake in the project in 2013
3. Marek sets up another company SatoshiLabs which does Trezor (not connected to pool or Braiins)
5. Braiins acquired the remaining minority stake in the pool from Marek in summer 2020
6. Braiins is a BTC mining company - developing new mining protocol Stratum V2, mining firmware Braiins OS+ and more mining projects in the pipeline

NEW RELEASE: Braiins OS Cobalt is here with February release!

Current upgrades/fixes:

  • Dragonmint T1: support for G29 revision of the control board (no SD-card slot)
  • Dragonmint T1: web interface now allows configuring full range of frequencies (120 MHz - 1596 MHz) and voltage levels (1-31)
  • Antminer S9: new configuration option allows disabling temperature sensor scanning (--no-sensor-scan). I2C scan log is now being stored into a separate file: /tmp/i2c_scan.log
  • Antminer S9: support for ADT7461 temperature sensor that appears to be used on some hash board revisions
  • [fix] 15m and 24h hash rate shows up only if the full time period of hash rate data has been collected
  • [fix] enabled/disabled indicator for Asic Boost now works again in the overview status page
  • fan control now has a new option --min-fans that specifies the minimum amount of fans that have to be operational (defaults to 1). Setting the option to "0" results in skipping the check for working fans.
  • temperature limits are now configurable via configuration file. The two new configuration options are: --fan-temp-hot and --fan-temp-dangerous. These options effectively override the temp limits in temp-def.h

Visit braiins-os.org for more information and downloads.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Currently running November version of braiins on bootable SD
Can someone explain how to upgrade to January version
Can it be done via ssh? Or do I have to burn image to ssd card again?
Docs are confusing for us non programmers

Hi,

you can upgrade to January release directly via the web interface.

We have described the process step-by-step here:

Hi everyone,

we recommend to read through the documentation on this website. There is a step-by-step manual how to flash bOS to the mining device. Hopefully it will be helpful.

braiins, any plans to add more details into Web-UI like bad chips, asics number, HW errors counter, board temp, pool Diff, works, accept/reject/lstime/blocks etc. ?

Hi,

yes, definitely. We are finalizing a brand new status page with more details.

and also will flashing braiins fw by gui too be supported? for dummies like me...lol

Hi,

yes, we would like to make it easier as well  Smiley

Hello, I just installed the latest build of braiins-os (via terminal) to my Dec 2017 batch S9s (auto tune, 13.5s).

And they are hashing OK (725 + 8.9v = ~15th), but on none of them are board temperatures being displayed/reported via your graph/web interface.

Bug?

Hi,

thanks for your feedback.

We are already aware of issues with temperature stats. We are currently working hard on a new release that has fixed API and overview page with realtime data and should solve these problems.

The new release should be out in couple of days.
Thanks for your patience and have a nice day,

Great product Braiins, thank you.

Suggestion: There is no where I can find in the GUI to display the status of the supplied pools (i.e. if a pool is dead, and what pool is currently being used), it would be great to have that.

Hi,

thanks for your suggestion!

We would like to bring a new status page in the next Brains OS release.
Hopefully it will meet your expectations :-)

Have a nice day,

Hello guys, sorry for the late response, we are working hard on the next release and definitely evaluating your feedback.

If you have some specific issue, it is always good to contact us directly via support ticket.

Antminer S9

Complete support for S9 (not only S9i) is our top priority right now, it should be out pretty soon.

As for overclocking, you can change the frequency, however, we do not feel confident to recommend any safe values. Be cautious. We are also working on voltage control so you can get a better grip of the overclocking.

We learned that many people do not know where pins/jumpers are and how to adjust them. We will update the guide accordingly. Please see this instructional pictures: https://imgur.com/a/dCUjXin

It is our goal to replace the closed bitstream and we are researching it, however, it is a difficult task and will surely take some time.

Installing Braiins OS via Antminer web interface is not possible, sorry.

DragonMint T1

Many T1s, unfortunately, does not have SD slot and we were not completely aware of it. While you can flash it directly into the built-in flash memory, we do not recommend it at the moment since it is alpha.

Support for other devices

Currently, we are focusing on Bitcoin only and want to polish support for Bitcoin mining devices before moving anywhere else. Thank you for the testing offers though!
