It is possible that these regulations are good for some countries and their governments because they are consistent with the economic development of their country. However, generally, these rules will affect the nature of the cryptocurrency.

Blockchain technology is still very new and infinite development potential. Nobody knows for sure if there will be other better and better ones than Bitcoin. Bitcoin, however, is the first and most influential currency in the current crypto market. It will not be outdated by another currency in the future.

Bitcoin may have become the main currency for the world economy. However, the fraudulent ICO and the Altcoin has led to Bitcoin in particular and the cryptocurrency in general is losing that opportunity.

This time last year the uptrend started at the end of this month. History usually repeats itself. All the alts are holding on announcements/news. I don't think we'll see blow out like December, but I do think we'll start to see upward motion soon... hopefully soon.

Re: crypto in the present moment?
by

How do I find new cryptocurrencies to invest in? "Do your own research", I know. But, there are thousands of them, and I don't have time to read thousands of whitepapers. My plan is to go through the top 200 and make a list of currencies that are worth looking further into. Are there any red flags I should look for as I go through and Google each one, or any criteria to look for to add them to my "look into further" list? Am I even approaching this correctly?

Re: Do you think bitcoin redistributes wealth or just makes the wealthy richer?
by

It's not redistribution at all. Once the price settles, and if Bitcoin replaces the dollar (which I doubt it will), the old rich will still be able to buy more than the old poor and will still be richer than them.

Stocks do have fluctuations but they are frequently priced based on their assets and earnings of the company. You own a share of the company, their IP, their earnings, etc. Maybe I am being naive but as best I can tell with crypto is there is no underlying value. This isn't a revenue-generating asset like stocks.

From fear, ignorance, to protectionism, conservative governments tend to eliminate and avoid the risks associated with Bitcoin. The first government privilege is to ban all new technologies that have the potential to influence their dominance.
