Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod]

When I watch Test matches between teams like England, Australia, India and South Africa, I feel that there is a different kind of excitement in Test matches and the beauty of the cricketers is in the Test format, but when other countries outside these countries face each other and when they play Test cricket, I don't know why it is boring to watch the Test format. Currently, different countries are organizing T20 leagues, due to which cricketers from different countries are busy with T20 leagues most of the year, due to which Test cricket is not actually organized in that way, but ICC should take several steps in this regard so that Test cricket does not lose its popularity. I think that when a country organizes a bilateral series, the Test format should be made mandatory so that the future generation is also interested in this Test format. The most prestigious tournament in the Test format is the Test Championship, where one of the teams, Australia, England, South Africa or India, is always the champion, but if this format can be managed differently, maybe the new teams can do well there.

Do you really watch 5-days in a row? I don't even remember when was the last time that I watched a full test match. Must be at least 2 decades ago, during the Ashes. Test cricket is not compatible with the modern fast-moving lifestyle. Even students and pensioners don't have time to watch these matches now.

Zimbabwe all out for 125. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. They somehow got the 40-year old Brendan Taylor to play for them, and without him they would have been bundled out for double digit total. Matt Henry picked up 5 wickets. During the first test against Zimbabwe, he picked up 9 wickets. If New Zealand play a few more tests against Zimbabwe, Henry's bowling average is going to look even better than Jasprit Bumrah.

Honestly, the series would have been in India's favor if they won the last test where the margin was so small which is why the English should have been satisfied instead of behaving like imbeciles trying to not allow Jadeja and Sundar achieve their personal milestones.

Stokes, Trott, Archer, Crawley, Brook etc just embarrassed themselves globally for that silly act of theirs towards the end of the game. They'll probably throw childish tantrums if India wins the final test and draws the series.

Agreed. England seriously misses someone like James Anderson, who knows how to behave on field. On the other hand, the Indian team now behave like gentleman, especially after the removal of Virat Kohli. Now only Siraj is there, who at times behaves like a monkey. But other senior members of the team know how to control him. That was not the case when Kohli was the captain. Boorish behavior was normalized under him.

I agree with Sithara007 here. Every team should be given a chance to qualify and it is not fair to put the top six or five teams in the Olympics and ignore the rest. Even in different sports we have qualifying rounds from different continents and then the top teams participate in ICC and Fifa World cups etc.

The best thing would be to have a pre-qualifying round for all the countries and then the top five may be selected to participate. The host if it's a cricket playing nation would be auto selected, that's understandable.

The ICC has issued clarification regarding qualification for the cricket tournament in Olympics. A total of 6 teams would take part, and it will be decided as follows:

1. Host nation (x1): this time, it is going to be the United States of America (USA).
2. Top-ranked team from Oceania, Europe, Asia and Africa (x4). No quota for Americas, as USA has already qualified.
3. One spot to be deserved for the winner from the qualifier tournament (format not decided as of now). Top ranked team from West Indies will take part in the qualifier, with others not being given a chance to do so.

There are some other important announcements as well. The ICC is looking into the possibility of expanding the T20 World Cup to 32 teams. But this is a very long-term scenario. Also, for the 2027 ODI World Cup, in the group phase there will be two groups of 7 teams each.

What would be a challenging target for India? At the moment, England are 109/4, with two of their best batsmen at crease (Joe Root and Ben Stokes). Either they can get to 250-300, or they can get bundled out for less than 200. Anything can happen from here on. Among the Indian bowlers, Mohammed Siraj has been the pick, as he nabbed two very important wickets (Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope).

South African batsmen cannot be praised. Because they batted in Test matches like ODIs, like Lhuan-dre Pretorius who scored 153 runs off 160 balls. Where there were eleven fours and four sixes. Again, Corbin Bosch who scored 100 runs off 124 balls is still unknown. He hit ten fours. On the other hand, Zimbabwe's Tanaka Chivanga gave away 83 runs off 16 balls. And took four wickets. Again, he took two overs medals.

Given the fact that Lhuan-dre Pretorius is just 19 years old, it was a magnificent achievement by him to score a test hundred on debut. But on the other hand, it was made against the weakest test nation at the moment. And also, let's not forget the fact that South Africa at one point was struggling at 181/6, before the partnership between Pretorius and Corbin Bosch pulled them out of trouble.

Exciting match ongoing between Nepal and Netherlands, and at the moment the match is evenly posed. The Dutch have made 105/4 after 11 overs, and out of that 73 runs have been contributed by Michael Levitt. He has in fact stabilized the innings. At one point they were 45/4. The partnership between Levitt and Saqib Zulfiqar has rescued the Dutch.

Even now, the CONMEBOL qualifiers look interesting. Brazil is at 4th place with 22 points, but then we have Uruguay and Colombia at 5th and 6th positions respectively with 21 points each. Even the 7th placed Venezuela is not that far behind, as they have 18 points. That said, it looks like Brazil will be able to secure a direct qualification spot.

In my opinion Lucknow is far ahead in statistics. This season saw a match between Hyderabad and Lucknow, where Lucknow won by 5 wickets, although the match was at Hyderabad's home ground. But today's match will be at Lucknow's home ground, any team will get a bit more advantage at home, so Lucknow is ahead based on the performance of these two teams. So I think Lucknow can win today's match. And today the match is very important for Lucknow, because to survive in the playoff race, you have to win this match. The three-team playoffs are confirmed. Now one team between Mumbai, Delhi and Lucknow will qualify, Mumbai is far ahead among these three teams.

Both the Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been massive disappointments in this season. LSG a little bit less than SRH perhaps. Ishan Kishan is likely to open the batting for SRH along with Abhishek Sharma, as Travis Head is unavailable for this match. On the other hand, LSG will be having a near full strength squad.

Today's KKR and Rajasthan Royals match ended in an incredibly breathtaking atmosphere. 22 runs were needed in the last over but those 22 runs were very difficult for Rajasthan Royals but even though Shubam Dubey took 20 runs in one over with two sixes and a boundary, they ultimately had to lose by one run.

If Shubam Dubey had been as aggressive in the last over as he was in the 17th and 18th overs, then he would not have had to concede 22 runs in an over towards the end. Rajasthan Royals could have secured the win long ago but they put the team in a difficult situation by conceding five runs in the 17th and 18th overs, which ultimately led to a one-run defeat. Such a defeat is truly painful and unacceptable.

I would still blame Shubam Dubey. He should have been aggressive right from the beginning. You can't afford too many dot balls, when the required run rate is more than 10 runs per over. Dubey took too much time to settle down, and as a result a lot of pressure was applied on Riyan Parag at the other end. And this resulted in Parag getting out.

Lucknow Super Giants managed to get to 200, but then for Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya picked up 5 wickets. I would say that there is a slight edge for MI here. Their batsmen are in form, and for LSG the bowling lineup lacks experience. It is going to be a close match, but MI has an upper hand as of now.

The points of my mentioned comment were the same that Pakistan team may not have released their T20 squad against New Zealand with a balanced team, If they had a balanced team, maybe their style of play would have been more organized. But an attempt is being made to clearly highlight Pakistan's weaknesses this season. Because the Pakistan team being all out for such a low score might not decorated them.

Most of the few players we see in the Pakistan squad are the new faces, that is the PCB may be obsessed with finding something good. No matter how much Pakistan plays with this same squad, it will not be an easy process to please its fans because they will not get a complete result from this match.

PCB selecting unknown faces in the squad is not the problem. But not giving enough opportunities and dumping them after a single tour is the real issue here. There is no lack of talent in Pakistan. But the PCB has been notoriously incompetent in grooming this talent.

India's squad for Champions Trophy announced.

Quote
R. Sharma(C), S. Gill (VC), V. Kohli, S. Iyer, KL Rahul, H. Pandya, A. Patel, W. Sundar, K. Yadav, J. Bumrah, M. Shami, A. Singh, Y. Jaiswal, R. Pant, R. Jadeja

Surprisingly no Siraj, but IMO Arshdeep is worthy replacement, if not better altogether; doubt he'll get spot in playing XI though as Bumrah and Shami should take the precedent.

Playing XI would be thing see, how they gonna fit Jaiswal in there? Can't afford to sit him out and Gill being VC, unlikely to sit out either. Gill's form being questionable, I would have preferred Jaiswal over Gill otherwise.

Social media is mad for Sanju Samson not being there, but I am ok for him not getting spot.

Social media is mad for Samson and not for Nair? That's not fair. Nair scored 779 runs, at an average of 389.50 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He almost singlehandedly took Vidarbha to the final. In case of Samson, he refused to represent Kerala at the VJT and that was given as one of the reasons for his omission. But Nair's omission proves that performing in VJT also doesn't matter much for team selection.

Next week, we have a test series between Pakistan and West Indies coming up. This is going to be one of the most irrelevant bilateral series, as both the teams are currently at the bottom of the points table in ICC World Test Championship. West Indies is at the rock bottom, while Pakistan is one rank above them. And talking about the momentum, Pakistan has won two of their last 5 matches, while West Indies have won one out of their last 5.

I was looking at the test bowling averages for Indian bowlers:

Jasprit Bumrah: 19.42
Mohammed Siraj: 30.87
Prasidh Krishna: 26.00
Mohammed Shami: 27.71
Shardul Thakur: 28.38
Ravindra Jadeja: 24.10
Ravichandran Ashwin: 24.00
Washington Sundar: 25.20

Out of these bowlers, Siraj is the only one with a >30 average. I am not sure how he is able to find an automatic spot in the playing XI every time. Perhaps close relations with Kohli and Rohit helps.

Rishabh Pant just got out, and that takes the advantage away from India. He made 61 from just 33 balls, smashing the Australian bowlers without any mercy. Right now India has a lead of 132 runs. In order to solidify their advantage, they need to take that lead to at least 200. Bumrah has returned to the Indian camp after his MRI scan. There is still no word from the Indian dressing room whether he will be able to bowl or not.

Indian bowlers (apart from Jasprit Bumrah) are looking pathetic out there. Travis Head is treating them with disdain. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep seems to be in poor form, while the pitch is not providing any support for Ravindra Jadeja. Maybe Rohit need to use Nitish Kumar Reddy more often. If India are unable to break the partnership between Smith and Head, then there is a good chance that the Aussies will get to a mammoth total and India will lose the match by an innings.

OK guys.. after carefully considering all of my options, I decided to purchase a hardware wallet. I made the order a few hours back. I think this is the best thing to do, given all the inconvenience I had to go through with the Blockchain.com wallet. Thanks everyone for their inputs! They were really helpful.

If it's an significant amount, and given that we're in the bullrun, it's probably safer to just invest in a hardware wallet. You could grab one with a good price with the current Black Friday/Cyber monday deals.

Two guidelines for choosing good hardware wallet brands and buy them a right way.

OP can import or sweep private key from Blockchain.com wallet to Electrum wallet.

Thanks. These are really helpful. I am still thinking about my options here. May need a few days or even a few weeks to think about them and finally make a choice.

Are you planning to sell your Bitcoin? If so, then just follow their advice, which is to move it to a DeFi wallet. But I suggest you only transfer a small amount initially, just to test if the transaction goes through successfully. Once you confirm that the process works, that’s the time to transfer your full balance and send it to whichever exchange you prefer for selling your Bitcoins.

No.. I am not planning to sell the coins anytime soon. They are for my retirement fund. But I am quite worried that I may lose access to the coins.
