I am surprised to see newbies on this section. Not that I find anything wrong with you particularly.

I posted the thread somewhere else, apparently it did not fit there and it was moved here.
After that I noticed that I am unable to post on other serious discussion threads, I suppose that means that this thread is ' special' .

Frustrating tough that cant post on other threads yet.

The difference between 1984 and real life is that plenty of us are actually volunteering for it and actively pursuing it in many a case.

If you'd told George Orwell that he would've tossed his cookies.

No system can work without collaboration(ist?).

How does the wild capitalism work?

5% of mega-wealthy
10% of wealthy.
10% of people who make a good living serving those above.
25% of people that are scared to loose what they have, are convinced by propaganda, or vote with their guts,...

I think your data about wealth distribution is incorrect.
This source https://inequality.org/facts/global-inequality/ quotes that 1% owns 45 % of the wealth and i believe that this is much closer to reality.

The real question in the context of data usage against the population itself for political gain is how many are exposed and how easily their minds are influenced by ads and relevant information.

As for 'volunteering'
I have encountered 2 types of thinking.
1. I dont care , let them steal my data, i dont have anything to hide. Possibly they would change their minds if they knew what exactly Whatsapp will be doing with their conversations in future.
2. They simply dont know, they are not aware of the extent and what they are doing with the data. I feel that there are many who think that  data stealing is not that real. This is why I think that we need to inform others about this topic.

He probably just want to steal some mining rigs or asics ...

Why Cheesy
No!

Actually I was wondering if  anyone can analyse the geographical distribution of rigs around the world Tongue
I have not mining experience also, I recently saw an article of mining power distribution but they did not explain how they gained the data. Surely It can be so easily gotten as searching google, lol.

I believe that those who are passionate about crypto currencies and block-chain technology in general also value their privacy and freedom .This is why I thought that this information about privacy and messaging cryptography would fit right in.

As many of you know, there has been a lot of public discussion and court action on Facebook's data policies including German court, Belgian court findings and Cambridge Analytica scandal. In short, all of those scandals are about Facebook's data stealing , privacy bending and last but not least- using data to  sway political elections one or other way. More on their legal hearings here. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/facebook-s-2018-timeline-scandals-hearings-security-bugs-n952796

For those who dont know , Whatsapp was bought by Facebook in 2014 for  $21.8 billion or at the time it would mean that they paid  $55 per user ! This story is about Whatsapp and how Facebook will most likely destroy any shred of our privacy in the name of “ security of public” .

The whatsapp will be continuously – non stop scanning our messages and then if flagged by some keywords or something else, the messages will be sent to central system to be evaluated without users knowing what is happening.

Quote
..Facebook announced earlier this year preliminary results from its efforts to move a global mass surveillance infrastructure directly onto users’ devices where it can bypass the protections of end-to-end encryption.
In Facebook’s vision, the actual end-to-end encryption client itself such as WhatsApp will include embedded content moderation and blacklist filtering algorithms. These algorithms will be continually updated from a central cloud service, but will run locally on the user’s device, scanning each cleartext message before it is sent and each encrypted message after it is decrypted.

The company even noted that when it detects violations it will need to quietly stream a copy of the formerly encrypted content back to its central servers to analyze further, even if the user objects, acting as true wiretapping service.

Basically facebook will be wiretapping every phone which has whatsapp and using them. This makes me wonder, if this kind of behavior is acceptable for them, what kind of  information they already are stealing from our phones with their facebook apps. Not a pleasant though.

Quote
Facebook’s model entirely bypasses the encryption debate by globalizing the current practice of compromising devices by building those encryption bypasses directly into the communications clients themselves and deploying what amounts to machine-based wiretaps to billions of users at once.

In addition they are not saying when they are going to implement this.

Quote
Asked the current status of this work and when it might be deployed in the production version of WhatsApp, a company spokesperson declined to comment. Of course, Facebook’s efforts apply only to its own encryption clients, leaving criminals and terrorists to turn to other clients like Signal or their own bespoke clients they control the source code of.
The problem is that if Facebook’s model succeeds, it will only be a matter of time before device manufacturers and mobile operating system developers embed similar tools directly into devices themselves, making them impossible to escape. Embedding content scanning tools directly into phones would make it possible to scan all apps, including ones like Signal, effectively ending the era of encrypted communications.

Governments would soon use lawful court orders to require companies to build in custom filters of content they are concerned about and automatically notify them of violations, including sending a copy of the offending content.

Maybe this is starting with the white and fluffy intentions of catching criminals and terrorists . But surely it will open some very dangerous doors for governments to monitor whatever they like. For example those who do not agree with their governments policies..  I believe that all this is done just to get access to more of our data, we all know how huge data market is grown, data and information is money! The more they know, the more precisely they can sell shit to us and sway our votes.

This new piece has me wondering if we are heading to cold controlled world Orvel describes in his book  “1984’’ sooner than we can imagine..

What information do you have about said rigs to go from?

Lets assume that I have nothing. Is it possible to get the location from publicly accessible data?
Lets keep it simple stupid.

If the answer is yes, I am happy to read your suggestions.

Re: Could a No-Deal Brexit Fuel another Bitcoin Rally?
by
btcforthewin
on 08/07/2019, 21:29:43 UTC
I don't see what Brexit has got to do with Bitcoin. Unless you think that it will accelerate the death of the Euro and the EU asset strippers. The UK will be immensely stronger once it has regained its independence and self-determination. It is likely that the bankers will create their own replacement for the Euro, and reluctance to accept that could boost Bitcoin.

They will not be stronger. Businesses are already suffering from different problems , one of which is lack of good workforce.
Those foreigners which some Brits hate so much are going elsewhere like Germany. But wait, who will work in their fields when all the foreigners are gone? no one because most British people do not want the dirty jobs!

EU gives enormous economical benefits for those who participate in the Union. British are already searching for other unions which are the same as European union only with less benefits and less responsibilities. Noone likes to sit in customs , no business likes customs and taxes!

BTW . Check the BTC chart date when british voted for leaving, Bitcoin had huge gains. There is a possibility that part of GBP will exit to BTC again.

Re: How to not care what the society thinks?
by

Not giving a fuck what anyone thinks about you is having true freedom.

ok, but how about what people think or not about you as a person or your action but about other matters.

For example how not to care about what they think of global warming or some kind of obvious political manipulation which they can not see?
This is the most frustrating thing. I will take the global warming as example.

There are people out there which cant be educated about this topic they simply refuse to hear the simple science arguments, they just cant be convinced.
You can say that fuck them, but isnt this our responsibility to educate them?..

completely and totally agree with you!

He is very dangerous and people can not overstate it! NATO state working with Russian military is just unacceptable.
This just shows what he is all about, he is power hungry guy with dictation in mind , he has no friends in free countries so he is turning to people with the same ideas - Putin.

But what are the option for other countries? The best they can do is not to give Turkey information and new technology.

Because the system is not perfect and there are plenty of cases where people have been justified after they have been convicted this is why death penalty is not reasonable.

Re: should trump abolish propriety tax?

on 08/07/2019, 20:51:15 UTC
I mean this not cool ! you buy a piece of land and it can be taken from you because you can't keep up with inflation... because you have a frugal life sustain by minimal income... it's very unjust... what do you think of the prorpiety tax ?

Do you own the land or not? or is it just a lease? at least be clear from the title...

that's the nuke in the real estate market...

This is not problem only in the US. In Eastern Euroupe we have the same problem, at this point in my city there is possibilty that the tax will go up drastically and we wont be able to pay it. Yes we have large house but we paid for the land, we poured sweat and money thru the years to build the house we live in and now we have to pay tax, this is just stupid and injustice. OKay, it is reasonable to pay some tax as part for street reconstruction and lighting but in some cases the tax is just ridiculously high, not every one who has built their homes can afford to pay the tax.

Re: Why does your Country suck?
by
btcforthewin
on 20/06/2019, 14:19:41 UTC
I envy you lucky Canadian. In the EU it's much worse and if you were to live in Eastern Europe you'd probably cry yourself to death, judging by how you're crying about your current conditions. I'll give you a hint how to notice the differences. Take an average EU country and compare how much people are earning there and what are the prices in stores.
Take Germany for instance, which is a pretty good economy and a rich country. Wages are similar to what you have in Canada, but max income tax is 42%! There's also vat, but in Canada it can be as low as 5% in some provinces, in some it's up to 15%. In Germany it's 19%! Go to one of the poorer EU member countries and you'll see it's much worse there. You need to travel a bit to understand how easy your life is.

I will give you the same remedy you are giving the guy who lives in Canada. For full transparency , I live in Eastern Europe.

If you feel like you live badly in the Eastern Europe, pack a bag, buy a ticket to India or Bangaldesh, get a visa and take a look how people live there. Make yourself understand that high taxes in Europe are nothing compared to living standards in poorest regions of the world where BILLIONS live.

Re: Iran shoots down a U.S. drone
by
btcforthewin
on 20/06/2019, 14:13:48 UTC

I'm just offended that it costed $187 million.

Quote
The US Navy has ordered 68 of the aircraft, which had a reported total program cost of $12.7 billion.

https://editi[Suspicious link removed]/politics/live-news/iran-us-drone-shot-down-latest-intl/index.html

That's.... a nonsensical amount of money. It should be able to dodge missiles for that price. Hell, it should be invisible.

187 Million USD for one drone is just outrageous. I tought that 70-100 million USD per one new F-35 fighter is a lot, but the drones are costing 2 times that.

Speaking about the response, I doubt that US will respond with a strike, they would risk huge military escalations.

Re: How to Reduce the Size of Government
by
btcforthewin
on 19/06/2019, 20:52:37 UTC
Let the platform that a candidate runs on be a contract with the people. When he is elected, if he doesn't do what he said in his platform contract, execution. If he is literally stopped by the opposition from a timely follow-through, so it isn't entirely his fault, life in prison immediately.

When the next person in line takes over after the first guy has been executed/imprisoned, he has a choice. Fulfill the platform contract of the first guy, be executed/imprisoned like the first guy... except if he voluntarily immediately resigns without taking office.

This is barbaric Cheesy

You are suggesting how to fight false promises not how to reduce government size.

Since the tittle talk about size of government, I want to say that the main problem of Government size is that people working there are not motivated to reach goals compared to private sector.

Many extremists taking the life of people all in the name of religion, why?

Fear.
Fear leads to following rules , religion is just set of rules and " truths" by which live by.

The extremism is the next level and might as well be a complex issue why these people turn pure stupid evil.

Re: Who thinks we will get a drink from a robot bartender in the near future?
by

If we take in to consideration what boston dynamics is achieving on daily basis , I have no doubt that robot-bartenders will be reality soon.
It would give several advantages over regular bartenders - faster, they would mix drinks precisely which could mean good quality and also they would not spill and cause negative impact on the establishments finances.
