Bitcoin works great because it is decentralised.

80% of bitcoin trade happens at Mtgox which is centralised.

WE NEED A DECENTRALISED EXCHANGE SYSTEM NOW!!!!!

This is my solution:  www.poundcoin.org

I have already started one. It is superior to Ripple in that the users can make money in two different ways.

See:

BTW, I am not making something that will be under my control. It is truly decentralized.

I actually read that post a while ago and I love the idea especially because both sources of income are so reliable.  How soon will it be launched and ready to go?  I'm on board   Grin

There's no reason why this can't work, it all makes sense.  It just depends on how many believe in this type of system compared to what's typically out there.  2 is always better than one (especially streams of income) and most btc advocates are investors and entrepreneurs at heart any way.

Just wondering...

How much bitcoin do people typically have? Hundreds? Thousands? Or just a couple?

I think that depends on how early people got in the game, or how much resources they had at there disposal, im a new comer so very little atm.

I agree. Definitely depends on when you started and strategies used.

Seems like it'd be real good for anyone who had some seeing as though they would become a lot more rare/in demand/valuable.  We'll have to wait many more decades til everything's been released before such a buyout would ever be possible though. Won't be in my lifetime.

Re: What if the US Government forced exchanges to close?

The US government would only have power to shutdown exchanges running on servers hosting in the USA. Any other exchanges would have to be shut down by the appropriate country their hosting recides in. Obviously USA would and could try to pressure them into closing it, but that would be a gamble at best.

Very similar to gambling sites but still residing & participating in a country that bans it regardless of where it's being hosted isn't always the safest idea.

Nice system.  Seems like this should help build a solid core this way we can flesh out as the btc market does as well.
