Re: Clueless about bitcoin. Unsuccessful selling my Casascius so I am going to peel

It certainly is. Sitting here beside me with the seal removed. Deciding what online wallet to use and waiting for my offline wallet to be delivered in the mail. Also trying to determine if theres an anonymous sportsbook where I can take 10% of my btc to fire some bets and actually get paid back into my wallet but that is secondary for now. The gambling forum here is just all advertisements it seems.

After more thought, I finally peeled. Got this thing in 2011 from an acquaintance who was trying to explain btc to me. So glad I didnt throw it in the garbage when I got home. Now I got this string of numbers and letters and the quest begins to learn how to splash around with a little bit of it while holding on to the majority to enjoy the ride to the mooooooooon.

Thank you for all the replies. I should say that I actually have a pretty decent understanding of the theory of bitcoin. I am mostly a believer, which is why I've changed my stance on being dead set on selling this thing for cash, to being very willing to accept a btc transaction or some combination of the two.

The part I'm clueless about is the actual infrastructure of it and WTF a "trezor" is, the fact that a "paper wallet" apparently doesnt involve paper, how to know which wallets/apps are legit/private etc etc. Yes, I could spend alot of time and learn all of this. I could also research the balance sheets of mutual funds etc that I have in my 401k but I prefer to just point and click and enjoy my life. My biggest concern is that bitcoin never gets to the point where people like me can use it comfortably.

Anyway, the most common feedback I got in both PM's and in this thread are to make another attempt to sell with Bigdaddy Minerjones as the facilitator before peeling. I am willing to take the leap of faith and send this coin to him to make this happen, once I have an agreed on sale.

See my post history for quite a few pics of the coin. Please PM or drop me a line in here if you have interest. As I said to someone in PM, my main concern is privacy and doing the deal in a way my newbie self is comfortable with. That takes precedence over getting every possible penny from the sale.

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old what I am going to find when I peel off the seal, and what steps I need to take to have secure access to my coins with complete privacy? I dont want to enter my name or SSN anywhere, I just want to do some sports betting on an anonymous btc sportsbook site (if any exist) and maybe convert a little to cash on occasion by selling to people.

Any help would be appreciated!

WTS - Casiacus 1 btc series 1 error coin
by
btcxyz
on 27/08/2024, 03:36:54 UTC
Hi folks

I've posted here every few months for 3 or 4 years now seeking to sell this 1 btc coin. Please check back in the thread for pics etc. I'm a total newb to crypto and am hoping to take the cash value of the coin plus some premium, and avoid having to worry about redeeming the coin without messing up somehow. I would also like to avoid making any type of KYC account if possible.

I am absolutely willing to do the sale through minerjones or do an in person cash or combo cash+btc transaction at a super safe location like a police station.

Price is 1.15btc or 1.10btc equivalent in cash,  and am even willing to agree to a tentative sale pending minerjones review of the condition of the item when he receives it.

The transaction unfortunately did not occur. The OP ghosted when I reached out to him to hopefully agree on a price. If anyone is interested I am more than willing to involve minerjones in the transaction and do anything and everything within reason to ensure a good sale.

Seeking 1.16 btc for a btc sale. Discount for anyone who can do part or all of the sale in USD. Highest discount for anyone who can do an in person cash transaction at bank/police station etc. Willing to travel. Am not a btc user, not big on technology, and have this coin that was given to me a decade ago and trying to unload it without having to figure out how to do all this stuff or worry about new accounts and complicating my taxes. The value keeps going up and making it more difficult to sell LOL

Took a couple more during the daytime so I'm not battling glare from indoor lighting.

It is you. I think last time some people were able to confirm that the coin is loaded from the code on the outside. It has been in this case for months and this is a little embarassing but I was trying to open the case to take the pics and couldnt figure out how lol

Edit: OK I'll try to take it out and take more pics

I was able to change my option to accept PM from newbies under my user profile. Please send me a PM on here as it seems we are a good match for this transaction.

I live in PA and if you look through my previous posts you'll see I have attempted to sell a Cas 1btc funded a few times in here (pics included) but just havent been able to get it done. Thought I had a buyer once but it fell through. It is currently in a security box at my bank but I am happy to post an updated pic if we are in talks.

Would prefer to keep discussion on this forum rather than telegram. Willing to make all the necessary and common sense precautions to prevent any fraud for both of us.

Advice needed for in person casacisus sale
by
btcxyz
on 06/03/2023, 19:14:50 UTC
I have agreed to terms with Mister Av8rJeff for a sale price of 1.20btc cash equivalent via zelle or venmo for an in-person transaction. Can anyone suggest safeguards for the two of us for this transaction? I admit to being nieve about the methods scammers use for stuff like this. I know paypal its possible to reverse transactions so that is not an option, but have to do some research on the others. One obvious thing is to do the deal in a place like a bank or police station but other than that what do smart cryptoers do to protect themselves in these in person transactions?

Casascius 2011 Series 1 bitcoin spelling error - UNREDEEMED
by

***Price reduction to 1.20btc***

Deal runs through MinerJones or can travel to meet in person. If cash transaction will do for 1.15btc equivalent and will use whatever escrow process is customary here.

Willing to take whatever steps are needed to establish legitimacy as someone with no transaction history.

Ive considered it but was hoping to sell on here without the scariness of sending back and forth to grading company. Even sending to an obviously reputable character like Minerjones is scary to me but I have become more willing to do that since I originally posted the coin a couple years ago. If there was a way to get it graded in person somewhere near me I would be interested.

Anyway not holding my breath but I'm hoping for a no hassle and smooth sale to get rid of this thing. Cant stress enough that I know I am an unknown newbie and am more than willing to do anything reasonable to prove I'm legit and not a scammer

Hello all

Checking in again now that the price of btc has dipped. I still have this coin and am again looking for a sale price of 1.29btc. I am willing to use minerjones or meet at an agreed safe location. The price is pretty firm, if you give me a good reason to come down I may consider it but Im not sure what the reason could be.

Will be happy to post pics again, and/or do anything reasonable to confirm my legitimacy.
