Board Exchanges
Exchanges With Decent/WebSocket APIs
by
caffeinewriter
on 12/12/2017, 21:03:55 UTC
So I've been looking at exchange APIs recently, and I was trying to find an exchange with a WebSocket API for an experiment.

Unfortunately, the only ones I've found are Poloniex, which seems to be impossible to use reliably, (It 502s 90% of the time, and times out after a few frames of data the rest.) and Bitfinex, which I'm trying to stay away from.

Are there any other established exchanges that provide WebSocket APIs, or otherwise decent APIs with robust rate limits?

In addition, it'd be nice if they had a large variety of altcoin pairs.

We've been working on this coin for over a year, and it's been publicly available, albeit not announced on Bitcointalk, since April 5th of 2014. It's proven to be a stable, and thriving coin. Feel free to message me directly with any questions, either here, or at crypto@omnicoin.net.

Re: [ANN] Common.gd - Buy Products By Donating To Charity

It's a great idea. Now the only thing's left is more sellers offering things for sale, and buyers.
Actually it'd be easy to sell your project to merchants - there are lots of businesses which want extra advertising, and this might be a great way.
And it might not be obvious - but sellers are actually donating themselves as well.

Yep. I just need to convince some people. I'm sure I could find some people who are interested. It does put some people off that they don't receive anything monetary from this, but the publicity, plus the good karma should at least be a draw for some people. I'll keep this thread updated as I add new products.

[ANN] Common.gd - Buy Products By Donating To Charity
by
caffeinewriter
on 09/05/2014, 04:09:48 UTC
This was an attempt at debugging something that turned into a full fledged project.

Have you ever wanted to buy a product by donating to one of your favorite charities? Well now you can. Our selection of products is limited at the moment, but will expand if people wish to donate their products.

Both the content creators and myself take no cut from this. It's simply a reward for donating to a charity.

Also, since all transactions are processed by the Blockchain.info API, it's completely transparent (you can follow the coins to their destination), and even the transaction fees are covered.

Please message me if you have any problems, or if you'd like to donate your work.

You may also submit a response here to submit your work:
https://caffeinewriter.typeform.com/to/IAcVZJ

Currently the only products are an ebook on arbitrage trading, and an album by an artist I know. No refunds will be given, as the site holds no BTC.

The prices specified are only a minimum. If you send more, it will be forwarded right along to charity.

Please note, due to the Blockchain.info API, it will take 1 confirmation for your order to complete.

Spoiler Tags
by

A year and a half ago, I made a suggestion to include spoiler tags as a BBCode ([spoiler][/spoiler] or, a shorter version, [sp][/sp]).

It's a small inclusion that has the potentially to drastically improve the User Experience. It gives posters the option to hide large images and wall-of-text style posts in manageable blocks, or to hide disproportionately large images/a number of images inside of an expandable block. This also will give it the opportunity to hide actual spoilers.

Lazy loading could also be incorporated to help users on slower connections load the page before the content in spoiler tags, which could help speed up posts which use it. However, lazy loading is hardly a core feature, but may be something that could either be a plugin, or incorporated into core after a stable platform has been created.

Examples:

I'm not sure if new features will be implemented in the current forum, but now there is this section to discuss about features of the new one:
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Meta > New forum software

A quote from the sticky post in that section:
Quote
If you have any ideas for new features or changes that are reasonably high-priority and realistic, discuss them in this section.

I'm not even sure if that section existed when I originally made this thread. Hell, it was a year and a half ago now. Still no spoiler tags ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm adding a thread to the new subforum right now.

Hey there Coinmarket.io, I understand you're undergoing some shit right now, but I submitted a withdrawal request at the beginning of March, and still haven't received it. It should be 1 BTC, or nearly that amount, going to 1CrYpTopYiQqZcJoAmYvfNShJdeQfAKVZq. The sooner this gets processed, the better.

Cheers.

I invested 0.3 bitcoins with this company just to try it out! At first I was able to withdraw bitcoin and had been paid my 6% for 2 months. Last time I withdrew was 2 Dec 2013. At the moment the withdraw feature doesn't work and there is no support! It's a scam.. Stay away and DO NOT INVEST

Sorry to hear that Sad Just hope not too many people got taken with it.

Priceless, but keep in mind, all marketing is good, even if its bad marketing.
What is the go with there provably fair algo's ? Dont they check out ?

It's provably fair still, but it's suspected that they're placing bets themselves, sometimes thousands of entries, so that they have more of an edge. At least that's what I deduced from this thread so far.

Re: Scamming Satoshi Dice?
by

I'm not entirely sure on this, but here's what I remember. They're able to send the BTC back instantly because they use the Bitcoin you sent as an input. If a single input is invalidated, it invalidates the entire transaction, therefore if an invalid output is sent to satoshidice, the output they send back to you will also be invalid. It's protection. At least, that's what I remember hearing, though I'm not 100% on that. It should be comparable with any service where they send instant return transactions.

Isn't that what I said in the OP? My question was, considering you'd know instantly if you won/lost, couldn't you submit a transaction with a higher priority back to yourself, so, you get the money back minus a MUCH smaller miner fee?

Huh, that makes sense. I guess I was thinking of this in a different fashion. There has to be some sort of safeguard against this. I can't test this, since it'd be expensive to, but it's possible that Satoshidice looks for duplicate inputs in blocks. This should provide some protection against double spends.

I'd be suspicious of them, at best. I've asked them a set of questions twice. They haven't responded.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=304361.msg3478358#msg3478358

You have no idea how many red flags this is sending up.

1. You fail to provide a suite number for your address, since 444 Brickell is a large office building from what I can tell. This doesn't prove that Bitcoinera has a physical address.

2. From research on Christoph Zeras, the contact person, both places of residence listed are over three and a half hours away from Miami, where 444 Brickell is located.

3. Your website states that you have a team consisting of "major players in the bitcoin economy, some of the biggest localbitcoins.com traders, investors, gambling site operators and more", which gives me no security that anybody like that is involved. I don't know any names from this. Also:

4. The only Christoph Zeras I could find works for RingPower, a subsidiary of Caterpillar. It's possible that Christoph Zeras is unlisted, but that just makes this even more sketchy.

5. Calling the phone number provided says something about a "Bank Contingency Mailbox", and that any messages will not be retrieved.

This begs the questions. Who the hell are you guys!?

It's suspicious as hell. Also, they decided to instead respond about how bad Inputs.io was. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Inputs.io, but they decided to use Ad Hominem to try and refocus the conversation.

Also, a quick search for "Christoph Zeras Bitcoin" returns only press releases about CoinEra.

Also, the reviews on CoinJabber are 100% negative.

Be careful, and use common sense.
