Well got my rig finally fully up and running Smiley

Got a cloud based proxy to work with Slush so getting just over 130Gh/s from the blades.

10 Stock clocked and 2 overclocked.

Temp is a little high in my room but moving else where means I don't have to pay to heat my house as these things do it perfect.

Looks great! The different color ether cables are nice.....but for the anal guys like me, would have kept the colors in order...Blue , Yellow , Purple , Red , Orange......The next group is out of order....lmao. Smiley

Re: Mining at half speed

Sounds to me that:

You are using this computer at same time as mining .
Cgminer is setting to  dynamic (Default) only uses one thread.

Try this...set cgminer to an intensity of 2 . It will then use 2 threads @ an intensity of 2. Now ramp up the intensity till your temp and or responsivness is what you want.. I can use a computer at intensity 7 and the temp will l remain at a reasonable level. (9 gets a bit sluggish).

Open your cgminer.config have a look around. Read the readme (its actually written very well ).

Set Cgminer to "Auto Fan" "Auto Gpu " With a temp of say 70 c. (this is what I use).

Set it and Forget it.

First thing to do to rule out things...

UNplug the Good one...does the Bad one improve?

Remove cover to see if heat related. Blow a fan at it.

Re: cgminer - ubuntu 13.04 - stuck on Thread 1 being disabled - 0.1BTC for solution
by
camaro69327
on 16/06/2013, 18:01:02 UTC
I have seen cgminer take a min or 2 to start showing work(depends on network speed load?)

Try without the cg.sh startup.

Go into the Cgminer folder. Right click and Open Command prompt here, then type ./cgminer.

It (cgminer) will then ask for your Pool info , then your user name , then password.

If it errors then the window will remain to show the error.

Think you just need to give it more time tho..lol

Edit: The Thread 1 being disabled is of no concern....it is running Dynamic so is only loading 1 of the 2 threads set as default. The threads are numbered 0,1 so you should still be getting thread (0).

I tried to set intensity from 10 to 18, all the same, defined GPU and MEM clock manually, same issue. Trying different combinations for days but again the same.

I have [fglrx] module loaded - fglrx 9.0.2 [Sep 20 2012] with 6 minors AMD Driver and ATI OpenCL Drivers 2.8 and ADL SDK 5.0

It is promising that I'm not alone with this problem, tried to search for it but just can't define correctly the search Sad

In case this can help someone else. I had the Exact same problem this user is experiencing . its the Fglrx drivers!!!

I struggled for a week with this and finally asked for help . The Fglrx drivers we are told to install according to a guide. Linuix nube here, so i followed the guide word for word and never got things going . the person helping me had me remove those drivers (FGLRX) and install  13.XX AMD Drivers and Magically all problems disappeared. I could set clocks and finally mine at full tilt!

Been mining non stop for 3 months 24/7 on that Linux install.

Sorry if off topic for this thread , Love cgminer , and if this could help someone else avoid the headache!

More info would help everyone.

Windows , Linuix , ?
Monitor , no monitor ?
New setup , Old setup, and just started happening, Huh

If Linuix , i know very little, but when i set up a rig i had trouble with clocks being wrong and it turned out to be a bad Driver install.

In cgminer when you try to set it to 925 does Cgminer show you can go that high?

by
camaro69327
on 12/06/2013, 20:49:22 UTC
this may just be a question for the cgminer thread ...but.

From what i understood, first you have to set --auto GPU & --Auto Fan, then you need to set a range for the Engine and Fan as a comma separated. Also you would need a temp target. This is all in the Read-me in the cgminer folder, have a look it is one powerfull ass program.

--auto-fan          Automatically adjust all GPU fan speeds to maintain a target temperature
--auto-gpu          Automatically adjust all GPU engine clock speeds to maintain a target temperature
"gpu-engine" : "900-1000,950-1000",
"gpu-fan" : "20-80,20-80",
"temp-target" : "70,70",

Adjust above to suit.

I mine with a temp target, and when a miner is first started it takes awhile for it to "settle" in at the temp requested . it does work great tho.

I have seen this weirdness before.

You don't say what you are using for mining or what the settings are.

But..when i have seen this in cgminer after starting a miner up, (one card not performing at 100%) I change the Intensity from say 9 to 7. Then change it right back to what it was (9) and then the card will run at 100%.

Re: How to test a 7970 and a 6990 for problems? Issues with gaming.
by
camaro69327

Things to test with , push a system.

Msi has Kombustor , checks for artifacts also I think.
Furmark
Fluidmark
Prime95
Tessmark

Any one of these can stress test parts of a system. But if you want to test the entire system at once for stability across the board try this. This is my gaming rig so it has 2 Nv 580's in SLI a 32" monitor and 1920 x 1080 RES.

  Make sure you can monitor temps of Video and CPU (Fur & Fluidmark monitor the GPU's In the Program) but not the CPU.

Start Furmark in a window (600x800) , next start Fluid mark (Multi GPU) also in a window, Once both are running and the cards are warmed up , now start Prime95 on as many cores as you have. I also had Winamp going playing an internet station, (extra audio clue if something is going amiss).

See if that runs. I pull serious power doing that all at once. When i built this rig 2 years ago i tested this way to get my stable Overclock. 2 days ago I was playing a game and computer started making an nasty ticking noise. At first i thought Power supply so i dusted off all these tools and fired them up, with side off the case , no noise. Put side on and noise returned...lol it was the Fan on the side making the noise. But with these tools i could push the system to the Max, I was pulling over 1000 watts and no problems.

This can help rule out MB and PSU.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck.

Alum drills very easy.

When done drilling use a Larger drill bit (by hand ) to deburr.

If you use wax and a sharp bit you wont have much of a burr and can just bolt or rivet.

monitor lets talk about that , are you using an adapter to get from your GPU's Dvi connector to an older monitor (VGA)?

Quote
A passive DVI-to-VGA adapter. This adapter will NOT work with a DVI-D output. It requires a DVI-I or DVI-A output to get the analog signal to a VGA input

Taken from  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface All the differant connectors are pictured their ,along with the Pinouts.

What you need is to have the 4 pins around the Blade side, (those are the analog pins (RGB) needed for VGA.

Just Guessing....lol

How are you trying to Start these MB's outside the case?

Just flicking the switch on the back of the Power Supply? (normally will not work) (this will work , once you boot to BIOS , set power ON after power fail).

You have to short the pins to start a MB (unless it is newer and actually has a Start button on the MB)

I removed the power button from an old case to plug into an older MB to fire it up.

Edit : all the header pins are located along the lower edge of a MB ..they are labeled , Speaker, PW SW , Reset, and the like .  all that is necessary is to short the 2 pins that are marked PW SW (Power Switch) with a Screw driver or any metal object. 2 days ago i use a screw that was laying around, (to lazy to get up and get the Switch).

Edit 2: I missed this in your first post
Quote
When I fire up the motherboard, all fans run normal but simply wont post any video to the HD5780.

Thought you never had any post of any kind. But you wont get beep codes unless you add a small speaker to that header I mentioned. I use one like this   http://www.amazon.com/PC-Internal-Mini-Onboard-Speaker/dp/B002W4M0DW

BFL use eclipsemc.com when live testing.

BFL isn't supposed to do any live-testing, so to say that they "use" Josh's pool when testing is just an assumption on your part.

Wake up...SEE the evidence before your eyes. The link I post is to a Update post by Josh ON the BFL Forum. Open the pic, click again and it will enlarge. Now can you SEE that they are mining @ eclipse ON the network and not on the Test net like promised.

No ASSumptions necessary.

Edit: to add, scroll to bottom of page, last post, that pic.

This restart was from the last stable run of 3 weeks (I restart on occasion because I like to tinker with my miners)  l think the only reason it restarted (stopped mining) here was  around the time you had to update the Client?..no matter in 2 years think i have lost a total or 10-20 hours mining..lol...Keep up the Great work. I also haven't noticed any weirdness in the payouts lately. (except that double block you explained a few days back. Their may be a few lower then the rest, not sure if any that would have had me turn off one card to watch a video would still be showing here. course we are seeing a slight downturn on payouts as the Diff just adjusted up again.

TO be clear here, I am not saying anyone else is not having Problems...i am showing it is not everyone. This may or may not help , but it may lead Slush to the underlying problem IF their is one.

Re: Poll: How much does it cost Butterfly Labs (BFL) to build a Jallapeno?
by
camaro69327

This is the total cost involved including:
* 65nm Chips (x2 per jallapeno)
* PCB Fully Assembled (just the way you see it in the video)
* Custom heatsink
* Fan
* Plastic Case (Including all screws/hardware)
* PSU (with cords and wiring)
* Employee costs per unit to hand build, test, and pack (1/2Hr wage?)

I just made a thread asking this question in detail. If you would like to answer the question in detail, search for the topic by the same name as this poll.

There was a video posted this week showing a jallapeno being torn down to basic parts:

For anyone who doesnt know ESEA is a competitive gaming league (with a huge number of members) that requires you to pay to get access to their client software. It appears they added in a bitcoin miner ontop of that required fee. Their users are not happy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmobeX3GvPU

I wonder what sort of hash rates they were looking at. Hash rate jumped up a bit around 04/23, maybe that was them? The same amount of hashing power seemed to disappear yesterday. I'm guessing around 10Th/s when you average nvidia and ati cards together for >10000 idle users.
