Re: Possible to launch Crypto without ICO?
by

on 28/12/2018, 18:54:19 UTC
It is very possible for a cryptocurrency to be launched without an ICO. There are so many of them like that including Hydro.

I have learned crypto projects that have raised private funds without launching an ICO. Polymath was one of the projects that raised private funds only and airdropped tons of their tokens. It allows buyers to obtain those tokens in order to launch their own STO. They did it right the book, IMO.

Look up Polymath. I think they have a way to launch cryptos without the use of an ICO.

Yes, Polymath is the STO platform that will allow businesses to launch their own security tokens. Security token is basically like a stock with regulations. I personally think STO will overtake the ICO market next year. It is SEC's wet dream.

Re: The future of cryptocurrency/blockchain is in Asia
by

What discussion you want to start with? Asia's the leading as of the moment but it might change sooner or later.

Sorry if I won't click your link.

There are many reasons for Asia too be leading now. More favorable mining environment (low cost energy), many developers in Russia and South Korea..

But as you said, it may change soon or later. I believe USA is still struggling with regulations, but as soon as this phase passes, it may become a good place for new cryptocurrency projects.

Yes, the US Government needs to update its security regulation laws in order to let cryptocurrency projects pass by. At least, there are several states that are crypto friendly (Ohio, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado) plus there are existing crypto-backed lending companies (BlockFi, SALT Lending, Unchained Capital). We will do perfectly fine within a couple years Smiley

Re: What can we do for shit coins in our wallet?
by
cameron_EMI

Sometimes, I just leave them in my wallet and forget about it. If you are being a honest citizen, here's what I would do as a US citizen:

If you worked for those coins from bounty campaigns, you can report the earning amount at the particular time you received them and if they turn out to be worthless, then you can trade them away for loss and write them as capital loss tax and they can be as deductible to reduce your tax bill.

Re: How to buy Cryptocurrency?

I always recommend buying cryptos via coinbase to new investors due its convenience. I'm located in USA BTW. I always say this:

Them: Where do I buy bitcoin/ethereum/litecoin?

Me: Download Coinbase application and buy some with your cash you can afford to lose.

Plain and simple. Smiley

Re: when you say whales, who
by

You will find it difficult to link a name/person to a whale, because these people take good precautions to hide their true identity. They have to do this, because rich people can draw some attention from some criminal elements, if they know their true identity.

Bitcoin whales are also often targeted by beggars and spammers and nobody wants people like that to bug you for money 24/7.  Roll Eyes

Some of these people also wants to avoid unnecessary attention from law enforcement agencies.   Roll Eyes

Also, the markets have a bunch of trading bots that are 10 steps ahead of regular individuals. Whales and trading bots control the markets, period. You have to suck it up and play along with them.

Re: Ethereum 40$ in 1-2 weeks
by

see this will never happen. there's no way the ethereum price is at $ 40. ethereum is supported by a large community so it is difficult to make this coin destroyed. the only ethereum problem is that too many ICO projects use their platform.

I feel the same way. Too many SCAM projects use the Ethereum platform. This negative reputation also affects the platform itself. Ethereum should create a platform that greatly reduces the risk of a scam. If they succeed, I see the Ethereum course underrated.

It isn't Ethereum's fault! I think maybe they should raise the cost to deploy a dAPP/smart contract on its network to push scam projects away. That's why NEO charges 500 GAS to deploy a smart contract/project to keep scam projects away.

Good news but I doubt about it being "most used product in crypto". It would be a single purpose means of payment (largely used).

Indeed. I think it will be widely used in 3rd world countries, especially for unbanked people. I think we will start adapting to cryptos within 10 years without noticing it.

Re: Bitcoin to finish the year at $5000 value?
by

I think that we will touch 3k and then there will be a rebound to 4k, and then the growth will start already before the launch of Bakkt

I think this sounds right. My friends think it will hit $4800 by end of this month. $5000 sounds a bit steep, but I can see it happening next year.

Re: Ethereum Dapps still barely used.
by
cameron_EMI
on 21/12/2018, 20:00:46 UTC
I was making some research about Ethereum, trying to find some reason for the low price.

Ethereum Dapps are certainly one of the most important  and inovative aspects of the network.

Decentralized Applications are basically applications that cannot be stopped, as they run in a decentralized network. The problem is that it's quite expensive to use them because you need to pay gas for each interaction.

I found this website and I discovered that the most used Dapps in the Ethereum network are 0x and MarketDao. I don't know those projects very well, but their number of users in the last 24h was very low, 1000 users.

For such a great plataform like Ethereum and all the money they have (marketcap of billions ) , I think this number of users is very low. Dapps are not a thing yet.

Eos on the other hand has one Dapps with more than 15.000 users,. Endless dice. I think it's very strange to see a new plataform such as eos with more users than Ethereum... Maybe it's just temporary

Have you heard of Lunyr? It is a dAPP on Ethereum network and it has active users. We are still too early and some projects developed their own sidechain on Ethereum network so their projects don't clog the network itself.

Re: Why does Bitcoin seem to always rally in December?
by
cameron_EMI
on 20/12/2018, 03:30:35 UTC
It's too early to tell that bitcoin is rallying solely based these couple of days of increase. Assuming that bitcoin is rallying towards through out the end of the year, it might be due to the feeling of being optimistic for year 2019. The bitcoin ETF is expected to be approved on February. This is a good trigger thing for bull run.

BTC ETF is one of the biggest reasons. Also, don't forget Bakkt platform's release. Also, if you invest your money into BTC right now and sell it next year, you would pay less tax bucks (long-term capital gain tax in USA).

My theory is that people buy it as holiday gifts.
Whats the connection? Lets say if you are one of those who buy, are you really willing to just to give it to someone just for a gift?

Yes, it is true. I once knew a guy who bought 2 LTC at $25 per coin last year for his niece and nephew because he hoped it would help them someday with their education, buying an used car, or whatever it can help them with any unexpected financial situation.

It is similarly to setting up a trust fund.

Re: has the market recovered?

Here's what I noticed yesterday:

A friend of mine who is an experienced NYSE trader who happened to one of greatest crypto traders out there and here's his comment to this:

"Those are large institutions buying back in, when we went up to 4kish earlier a few weeks ago thats when I knew we were at bottom, as I declared double bottoms are important in intermediate charts. The reality is that RSI and MACD reveal we were way oversold."

Xmas time ppl use money more maybe that's a clear sign it's goin up

It is a possibility that people are buying cryptos as a gift for their loved ones, especially child, nephew/niece, etc. I have known people who do this for their loved ones so they can use the money to help with their unexpected situations in a few years or longer if needed.

Re: Buying new Pc Vs adding ssd to actual Pc .
by
cameron_EMI
on 20/12/2018, 03:08:57 UTC
There is no one perfect solution to upgrading your PC. I have Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 that runs on 256 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM and i7 Intel and I have been using it for 3 years and it runs smoothly. The only problems I ran into were issues with its operating system, Windows. I had to refresh its OS a couple times and I even had to reinstall the fresh OS on it once.

Honestly, I would suggest you to upgrade your HDD to SSD and maybe install a reliable Linux distro on yours. Linux runs much smoother than Windows in some cases. Upgrading your RAM is a good move if you can be able to remove it manually. Some manufacturers soldered RAM on the motherboard, which I cannot upgrade mine at all.

I have been using PureVPN for almost a couple years. It is pretty a decent software, but it can be buggy sometimes. Plus, it is one of the most affordable paid VPN services out there. In fact, they do accept cryptos as a payment Wink

Re: I have been hacked... what now?
by
cameron_EMI
on 19/12/2018, 18:45:09 UTC
Okay so long story short.

I donwloaded a program without AV because i thought Windows Defender was good enough.

This happened around 2 months ago: Downloaded the program, ran the setup installed it and ran it. All fine. In the next 2 hours, I have gone onto my emails to find out someone was in my yahoo mailbox and tried to get into my crypto online wallets which were empty. I bought bullguard antivirus straightaway and ran scan which found viruses. I changed my passwords, reinstalled windows and changed passwords again. I thought that was it. 300 dollars gone off my paypal account, and 15 dollars used to buy GTA V off my other paypal account.  I bought Ledger Nano S and stored 20 000 xrp on it, worth £10 000. Yesterday i woke up to find out that all my ripples from ledger have been moved to this adress which i suppose is the hackers address rUF5TKP4JNyXsHWjHYVWH7ugCB6FTabM8U.

Also the hacker who bought the gta has used a fake passport with my name on it to send to the game provider to prove "it was me" who bought it.

I probably wont be able to recover my life savings will I?

will be going to police station tomorrow also if they can help?

i had sensitive files on my pc, such as letters i wrote and pictures of my driving licence.

what can i do to make sure this does not happen ever again, and what else can the hackers do? Is my personal information for sale on dark web? Who knew 1 small application could ruin a life...

i am afraid they can take all my money from my bank accounts

1.) I'm very sorry to hear about your situation. You just made a bunch of rookie mistakes.

2.) If you are using a Windows computer, please download free editions of Anti-Virus, Spyware, and Malware. Here's what I have on my computer: Avast Anti-Virus, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Malwarebytes. Yes, I run on free editions.

3.) Please, please scan your computer with those programs almost daily if possible. Better than sorry!

4.) If you seek to purchase a hardware wallet to store your cryptos, never never buy an used one. Buy yours brand new directly from the manufacturer or trusted third parties.

5.) If you want to save your backup codes, seed words, etc. into text files, please save those in your encrypted flash usb and store it somewhere safely.

I hope it helps!

I am hoping Bitcoin's price will reach again 17500 USD and then next mount - 28000

That. Would. Be. Amazing.  Shocked

But seriously, I don't think it will be happening till near the EOY in 2019.

Re: Blockchain or crypto jobs for total newbs?
by
cameron_EMI
on 18/12/2018, 20:06:34 UTC
Well you can start by doing signature campaign bounty it's a sort of working for ico project and getting paid after for the services you render you can either get paid in bitcoin, ethereum on in the projects token

I found a Community Manager job for a cryptocurrency exchange platform, but I'm a contract worker. I started out taking in bitcoin as a payment till they decided to switch to USD. How did I land this job? You need to start participating in various online communities, build relationships, be yourself and you will get recognized. It took me a year to find this kind of job. Good luck!

Re: ICO or STO, what is the difference? Invest in which?
by

If you ask me im in favor of STO model and i think it is the real deal, STOs can replace the classical stocks, shares and equities markets but we have to be realistic and should be aware that for STOs to become compliant and legalized by the governments globally there is complicated process required and we do not know how much time it will take to pass regulators across the globe.

I have been telling people STOs are going to replace the traditional stocks due its convenience and being able to be traded 24/7 worldwide. Also, with STOs, you can receive equity and dividend too. We will see the blockchain version of stock market soon.
