Is it still possible to get waves coins from ico page ? Can anyone help me?

If you invested in the ICO and have not withdrawn your WAVES yet, you will have to email support@wavesplatform.com to get access to them.

Nothing works there, money is stuck. Repair it, i just want to withdraw my money and leave. Disappointment.-

please leave us but fast! sell all your waves and come back to real life.

Can´t sell because nothing works. Tell me more about real life.-

I always deposited my money in safe places like MTGOX and Cryptsy. In 2001 i used to keep a part in a bank in Argentina. Waves looks safe and stable.
I will move 50% to Tidex, just in case.-

It was a simple network connection issue that the team had solved in 20 minutes and this information was publicly available very rapidly. Instead of panicking and freaking out, maybe you should try to calmly understand what's going on. If this kind of a simple connection error can cause you to lose your composure and freak out, you obviously have money invested here that you can't lose. You shouldn't be investing money that you can't lose in a space like this, and obviously not when you don't understand the experimental and somewhat unstable nature of the technology you're using.

It's not for the money, in fact it's not much, it's simply because i like things well done.-

If you can do WAVES better or see a team doing a better job, I encourage you to seek them out. In my estimation, WAVES is one of the most compelling blockchain projects around right now. It is an active network and it is in ALPHA release. ALPHA! ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA!!! Software development and networks have bugs, and most blockchain projects experience bugs and hiccups just like Bitcoin did when it was all of a year old.

Seriously, get a grip dude.

You don't seem to understand that you're using an alpha release platform that is being actively developed and updated day to day. If you put money into products without doing any research, you shouldn't be here. Not just in WAVES, but anywhere in crypto.

is there an exchange for WCT?

WCT is actively traded on the DEX; the WAVES Decentralised Exchange. It's also traded on Tidex, but the largest market for WCT is on The DEX with the most active pair being WCT/WAVES.

How long does it take to send coins? How many confirmations?

How to withdraw coins from wallet - https://waveswallet.io/?

1 or 2 minutes before confirmation, most of times less than 1.

Why does the withdraw option not work in this wallet?

You can use the withdrawal option for WBTC or WEUR. Try send or transfer for the others
(maybe update your wallet if you aren't on the last version ?)

My version is 0.4.22a

Sorry for so many questions. But for the first time I set up a wallet of Waves.

I visited faucet wavesgo. I entered my address - but 2 hours and the wallet is empty. why?

I do not know if I should buy Waves. If the faucet still does not send the coins to check the wallet works

Pm me your address and I'll be happy to send you a small amount of WAVES you can play with if you like.

If you're trying to send WAVES to another WAVES address, you must use the send function.

Thanks for the welcome and advice Canuk!

Did I hear that once I get that wallet set up with my coins in it I will receive more coins every week?

Is the Waves Chrome wallet set up for the Bip148 implementation on August 1st?

If you hold waves in your wallet, you're entitled to some airdrops from time to time. Currently, the Waves Community Token is being airdropped to WAVES holders. There are 9 distributions of the WCT of which there will be 10,000,000 tokens issued. The first drop was 20% of that supply and each of the other 8 drops are 10% of that supply. So long as you hold waves in you wallet for the month, you get a distribution based on your balance held every 15th of the month  or so.

You also get other airdropped tokens from time to time, but they're mostly spam. Some interesting distributions have taken place hough such as the Riptobux distro which is a dual blockchain asset. Not really being used for anything right now, but it has limited market value and it's intriguing.

There's no scheduled kind of distribution of tokens that just takes place every week. You can stake your WAVES token though and lease them to a node that's mining new blocks and get a portion of the rewards from that. Most nodes pay out weekly for that.

I'm not sure about BIP148 compatibility. I think that would be up to the Bitcoin gateways that accept Bitcoin transfers for WBTC (Waves Bitcoin backed tokens) and they're simmilar to consumer level users of the Bitcoin network; so I don't imagine there are any problems ahead for that.

Hi guys!

I send BTC, EUR, USD, ... to a gateway and get tokens wEUR, wUSD, wBTC ...
I have full controll of the tokens in a decentralised network, so everything is safe (the only weak point is myself --> password, trojans, virus, ...)
Sounds good so far.

But what if the original EUR, USD, BTC get stolen? What if the gateway gets hacked, or goes broke? My tokens are still here, wonderfull. But they aren't backed 1:1 anymore, they are worthless. I can't change my wBTC to BTC anymore.

So whats the advantage over a normal exchange like poloniex??? I don't get it, where is my mistake?

i wait for a good A. aswell.

It require a third party to convert fiat/BTC to Waves tokens. The guarantee depend of the gateway, as the safety of your coins on Polo depend of the service itself.

The advantage is that more gateway should join on the long term (nothing prevent you to create your own gateway service). So if one is compromised, you have all the others.
The eco-system is still building up.
I see no difference between a gateway and a normal exchange.
Only difference i can see is, that for example 2 EUR gateways will be live in short time. If both are used nearly the same and one gets hacked or runs away with our funds, the tokens aren't backed 1:1 anymore but 2:1. So if more than 50% of users wanna change tokens to cash, there'll be a problem. The more gateways the better, but in the long run 1:1 backing won't work.

Basically what you're pointing out is that gateways are exposed to a risk of fraud or theft. It's a good observation and as in any market where credit is being extended, or where purchasing power is being converted, gateways will have to charge a premium for their services that cover costs of service provision, and mitigate some risk of fraud. The 1:1 backing will still exist, but a gateway may lose funds in the case of fraud.

Similarly, if you convert fake dollar bills into real euros at a currency exchange business, the currency exchange business takes the hit and has to draw from their profits to cover the loss. This is possible in part because fiat monies aren't stablecoins. While the financial ecosystem is harmed, it remains functional, and nominal accounting remains integral in the broader economy.

What you're identifying is a risk to gateways, not a risk to the broader WAVES exchange economy. You're right to identify it, but it doesn't threaten 1:1 backing. If that threatened 1:1 backing, then so too would the taking of any profits by gateways.

3 Wallet options, Nice! Android wallet, Chrome extension or app or whatever, and Github. Does anyone of them standout as the best? Actually, nevermind the Android one since I don't transact on my phone. So Github or Chrome?

Thx! And super stoked to be here!

Welcome!

Chrome plugin is probably your best bet if you're looking primarily at ease of use. Simple setup. Github download isn't bad but it's more for people who want to play with full nodes and the like.

Oh...MUH GAWD! Dude, you messed up. Accept it. You lost your seed and thus control of the address that you specifically told the team to send to. This is your fault. It sucks that you lost the coins, but it was you who lost the coins. You weren't conned by anybody,

Hey everyone. Could anyone tell me how to update/change my password for my WAVES wallet? I cannot use the "prefrences' tab since its under development.

Thanks!

Currently it doesn't look like there's an option to change your P/W, but it's stored locally so you can do this.

-Make sure you have your seed written down so you can restore your wallet.
-At the login screen for the lite client on your desktop, click on "remove wallet"
-Your wallet should now be wiped from your computer.
-Now restore your wallet with the seed.
-You should be prompted to create a new password.

Viola, you have changed the password!

Yea that sounds a little risky lol. Thank you for the information though. I guess It would leave your account without a password, other than your seed correct?

Well, the seed is meant to restore a wallet in any event, so I don't think this is particularly risky. Again, the password is stored locally, so it's not like you're risking getting locked out of your account. It's just a local layer of security; it's not a layer of security that exists on the blockchain.

This is why keeping your seed is so important. It's the actual "password" to your waves wallet.

If you are afraid of any risk, you could first use the seed to "restore" your wallet to another device so you have it there "just in case" but the seed is what's used to manage your waves wallet and where it can be accessed, so I don't think this is very risky at all. You should have control over your seed to begin with. Being afraid to use it is akin to being afraid of using a key to unlock the front door to your house because you're used to unlocking the back door with it.

You broke it down for me great! I love that analogy on being afraid to use the key to the front door! I will reset on my laptop first. I broke up with my girlfriend and I doubt she would or even could use my account, but just in case the next guy is into crypto I wanna get it changed :> Thanks again for your help!!

Glad to be of service.

That said, i would generate an entirely new wallet with a new seed in your situation. If there's any chance that your ex might have had access to your wallet seed, then she or someone else could use that seed to "restore" your wallet on their own device and steal all your waves. In this case, it's like she might have a copy of your house key that we talked about before.

Best change the locks on the house. Restore your current wallet on one device, generate a new wallet that will give you a new seed on another device, wrote down the new wallet seed and then transfer everything from your old wallet to the new wallet.

Security is tricky and wallet seeds should be thought of as all access passwords to your wallet from anywhere because that's what they are. If there's a chance that your wallet's seed has been compromised, best create a new wallet that will give you a new seed.

If you don't think your seed has been compromise though, no worries.

I see no benefit of using waves over centralized exchange.

http://i.imgur.com/4uGzHrT.png

If they couldn't do a decentralized exchange, might as well not even try. They only added EUR gateway now? Years behind competition.

To my understanding, while the smart pegged assets on Bitshares are compelling, they don't interface with AML/KYC compliant organizations. On WAVES, compliance can be easily included in how a gateway functions and is created. Deutsche Bank can't really use the Bitshares smart pegged assets, but they can absolutely set up a EUR gateway on WAVES because compliance is easy to integrate.

Hey everybody,

I have a question : how is working the stacking with WAVES ?
Should I run a node on my server ? Or can I stack with a regular offline wallet ?

Cheers,
Astrus

I'm assuming you mean to ask about staking and not stacking.

Stacking is simple. Just buy more WAVES! Smiley

The lite client has simple leasing functionality built right in, and to stake you don't have to run your own node. If you want to run a node and discover new blocks on the waves blockchain, you'll have to run it 24/7 connected to the network and run it with a minimum 10,000 WAVES balance. However, you can also just "lease" your WAVES to someone who's already doing that and there's no minimum balance to do so.

To lease, just open the lite client with your waves account, hit the circled L icon near the top middle of the window. You'll see three fields that apply to you. Recipient, Amount and Fee.

Once you find out who you want to lease to, (partial list of generators at http://wavescommunity.com/leasing/) you enter the address in the recipient field, the amount of WAVES you want to lease, and leave the fee unchanged. Click on the Lease button, and boom, you're leasing your waves and you don't have to keep your lite client running for it to be effective.

Leases take 1,000 blocks to take effect, and 1,000 blocks to cancel.

Okay thank's for the answer Smiley
Is there any calculator to calculate the ROI ?

No, because the factors that influence ROI are in constant flux.

How much you can get back depends on how many transactions take place on the WAVES network and how many others are staking. It is also influenced by the node you lease to, and what type of payouts they offer.

The only thing that can possibly be said right now is that ROI is well well under 1%. That said, if you're doing nothing with your WAVES, it's arguably better to lease 'em because leasing them doesn't give the node control of your coins so you're getting money back for just leasing the coins out.

Also, you still get airdropped rewards like WCT in your own wallet regardless of whether they're leased or not.
`

Can you explain a littre more about the airdrop you just mentionned ?
The ROI of 1% is per month ?

Some tokens are airdropped to WAVES holders from time to time. Sometimes they're spam, and other times they're legit tokens like the Waves Community Token and the Riptobux token that you can find out more about by seeking out information on the web. Just a side mention. I'd sign up to the WAVES slack to ask question there. Devs are kinda sorta active there, and there are a lot of great community members too.

That's at wavesplatform.slack.com

The ROI is just a very very rough estimate and sure, let's go with monthly. It doesn't matter because it can change so much from one time period to the next. All I'm trying to say is that staking yields very very little reward right now. I'd say that weekly, you're looking at somewhere around 0.00015% and that's a very rough estimate. It changes from week to week depending on how the network acts.

Just a heads up to those who may not know, there is a huge backlog of unconfirmed BTC transactions for well over a week now. BTC movement is extremely slow right now, you need a very large fee to get through anytime soon. It's best to use other coins when moving funds right now, if possible.

https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

232252 Unconfirmed Transactions.

Well, I have 2 of those 232252 Unconfirmed transactions. It's kinda frustrating you know when as big and as pioneer blockchain.info is, still we cannot rely on its service.

The delay doesn't have anything to do with blockchain.info. They're just an information aggregator. It's the Bitcoin network itself that has a problem.
