Re: What could cause a single digit crash...and could bitcoin recover?

I think that it probably won't go down to single digit. With the current mining difficulty, it will cost more for miner's electricity to mine them. So, miners will not sell below their electricity cost.

Re: Hi - Please help my friend in getting back his 30,000 bitcoins!

When bitcoins are lost, they are lost forever correct?

is it not true then, that eventually the number of coins in circulation will be less and less, which in turn may lead to
added deflation  pressure ?
governments can re-issue old or lost bills, but if bit coin is physically lost, the supply of currency will diminish.

So what is the solution to this as this guy just jost 30,000 coins.

If wallet.dat (private key) is lost, the bitcoin is lost "forever". It is impossible (at the current stage) for people to generate a 256-bit number which happens to be the private key for the wallet. Since there's no central authority, you also cannot do a "forget your password" to recover your private key because no one else has it other than you.

You can also try localbitcoins and see if anyone around Austin is selling too. Use the zipcode and search away.

Re: How long until Bitcoins render Paypal obsolete, if ever?
by

From the wiki:

Today the Bitcoin network is restricted to a sustained rate of 7 tps by some artificial limits. These were put in place to stop people from ballooning the size of the block chain before the network and community was ready for it. Once those limits are lifted, the maximum transaction rate will go up significantly.

So, if this limit is impose, we won't be able to catch up to paypal's 4 million transactions per day for an average of 46 tps.

When something new is out, there is always someone who go against it. I'm a fan of bitcoins so I am supporting it. However, having it's value rises 2x,3x,4x...in just a couple weeks does make some people wonder if bitcoin is really legit and if it is currently overvalued.

Couldn't find one that gives good payout. Most of them are really small payout compare to the work and time you have to put in, and some of them are scamming sites. Hopefully there will be a clean legit list soon.
