Turn the miner off while you game. Your GPU should be running at 100% while mining, there's no room for adding gaming at the same time. The best option is to let it mine and read a book on investment strategies instead of spending that time gaming, there's plenty of time for gaming after you retire early, you'll thank me later.

Sorry those miners are outdated junk. Your only chance to make any money with them is to wait for Bitcoin to get above $50K then put the miners up for sale on Ebay. As a side note, anyone here that helps you should willingly do so on the open forum without private messaging or expectation of a tip as those two together are typical of a bait/scam attempt. Information shared on the open forum benefits everyone, private messages often benefit scammers or at least attempt to.

Nah, you don't need to take it anywhere. Just connect a network cable between your PC and the Antminer. This will allow you to communicate with the interface directly to set up the new static ip address.

OK, first rule is don't panic. Make sure you are using Firefox browser to ssh into the miner. Some people try Google Chrome or others and they simply won't work. Now, make sure you have not installed firmware. If you botched a firmware install, you bricked the miner. It can be fixed if that's the case so again, don't panic.

Now if you've not played with the firmware it's likely the problem you're experiencing is due to your network being a little off the common ip subnet settings. That's ok too. Most networks use something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 to get into your router. That's why when the Antminer is reset to default it usually goes to 192.168.1.99 but your network is on a completely different subnet so you can't see it. The only option you have is to use a network connection (hard line) directly from your PC into the Antminer. Once connected, open firefox and type in 192.168.1.99 and press enter. When the menu comes up for the Antminer the user and password is root.

After you get into the miner you'll have to assign the miner a static ip on your network manually. Just click thru the menu and you'll see where everything is. You'll also need to input your router and DNS server settings/addresses so make sure you have all that stuff written down or printed out before you begin. Network info is available in your network settings section in windows, you know the drill. Remember, once you click apply, the network settings you specified will take effect. You'll have to reconnect at the new static ip address you set on your network.

Now, after you have successfully assigned a static ip to the miner, again select an ip on your network, you'll click apply and the miner will restart. Disconnect from the miner and reconnect to your network, reconnect the miner to your network and turn it on. Open firefox and type in the static ip you assigned to the Antminer. After the menu opens you know the drill, root, root etc. Set up your mining pools click apply, the miner will restart and begin work.

I've ordered 1 (one) Sapphire RX 590 from Amazon to test. If it performs good with decent running wattage I'll buy more. If not, it will be disposed of on Ebay and I'll stick to the older 4th and "5th" so called gen cards. 12 nm has got to be better than 14nm, surely.

If you have a fixed electricity bill, buy BIG power hungry ASIC miners and run them 'til someone cries foul. Bitmain is almost giving them away.

A lot of Solar power guys do this. I find if you unplug the power cord from your internet router/modem first, the miners lose their internet connection and are disconnected from the pool. Wait a few minutes for the miner fans to cool them off, then switch off the miners and reconnect the modem/router power.

It's a bad idea to just switch them off while they have been mining and are heated up. Heat will kill your chips so let them disconnect from the router/modem and cool with the fans for a few minutes beforehand.

I think there's something afoul about that article. How can you go from a 14nm chip to a 12nm chip and double the power requirements? 225 watts? Don't smaller die chips usually go the other way on power consumption? If you're not making a more power efficient and higher performance product what's the point? Everyone will simply switch back to $100 used RX 470s and 480s and call it a day while AMD goes down in flames. Something is definitely odd.

I had a few similar issues. Final solution on the worst one was the power supply was killing my SSD, higher than acceptable voltages were getting to the SSD and corrupting/destroying sectors occupied by the operating system....It took 2 separate fixes to finally catch the actual problem. New 3rd SSD new 2nd power supply, problem finally solved with no recurrence. I learned to check the voltages on the power supply cables 1st thing now.

Also had a few issues with bad risers causing BSOD. It only takes one gone bad to throw everything off. (That was the first replace attempt when troubleshooting the above issue)

1 rig also had a similar issue, it would mine fine for a few minutes then the hashrate on one card would drop off to about half then finally down to nothing and then the BSOD popped up. That turned out to be a bad PCIE power cable, the riser was fine. (Yellow and Black Chinese PCIE cables are NOT a good choice)

I think he means that there are several algos that GPUs cannot mine which are CPU only. I've mined HODL, ROI, and a few of the Argon2d algos myself. I think it's a waste of time to try and compete with GPUs and ASICs to mine a GPU/ASIC coin with a CPU. You may as well mine BTC with your CPU if you insist on throwing money away for electricity and mining for a loss. You're better off to stick to a CPU only algo coin if you mine with a CPU. Trade those CPU coins for BTC and buy Monero or whatever coin you want in the end. It's not rocket science and you'll profit instead of lose.

It's normal to get a lower hashrate on a GPU that has a monitor plugged into it. Either power down the monitor and disconnect it from the card, or setup Windows startup programs to automatically run your miner program on system boot up. The latter will be the best option IMO as your miner will automatically restart after a system reboot from a Windows update or something with no monitor connection or interaction from you required. Some guys disable Windows update, I don't. There are many reason Windows needs to be up to date. Easy to find a step by step guide on Youtube to show you how to add a program to the Windows start up folder.

Hashrates will be up and down depending on the share submitted, no worries.

Thank you for a great CPU/GPU miner. I'm currently getting an average of 360 H/s each on RX 560 2GB cards mining Cryptonight heavy. That's about 50 H/s more per card than when I was using them on SMOS with XMR-stak or XMR-rig. Plus with the --no cpu command I'm able to cpu mine a different coin with a different algo miner and there is no noticeable loss in performance for either coin being mined. Maximum hashrates all around.

The RX 560 4GB and RX 580 rigs are next on the list of moving to your miner program. Thanks again and the dev fee is definitely reasonable and worth every bit.

It would certainly be nice of you were to write a multi-algo miner to cover them all. HODL comes to mind.......

On that motherboard, you'll have to go into the bios settings and disable the onboard graphics to enable the pcie slots. Yes it sucks not being able to use the onboard graphics especially with a gpu mining rig. I don't know if it's a design flaw or a batch of bad boards but I had the same issue with the same board.

If you are planning to use SMOS , you can ssh into the rig without connecting a monitor or you can view the rig in real time on their website/your rig list page . You only need to connect a monitor for the initial setup of your system, afterwards you won't need it to be connected to your GPU. Chris B.

If you're going to spring for a Vega 64, check out the Vega frontier edition first. It's a much better card for mining with 16GB of memory and the price isn't much higher than the 64 now.

With Asic miners in the picture, it was only a matter of time before GPU mining was a complete loss. Ebay is overflowing with used cards now and the prices aren't getting any higher. Sell before the block reward reduction comes or you may end up with a set of GPU paperweights or door-stoppers that used to be worth something. Best route to continue mining ETH would be to purchase a large solar system (20KW+ in panels) and asics. Chris B.

They're not "standing up to Bitmain" and it is foolish to claim as such. They are centralizing asic mining to profit from 100% of all asic miner sales used for this coin................ Communism is alive and well in Crypto it would seem. I wonder what decision will be made next to benefit the Sia team?

In case anyone has forgotten, the whole base principle of cryptocurrency is decentralization. Sia is now centralized and no doubt they will have representatives arguing till the end of time they are not but the facts are evident. At this point in time you couldn't run fast enough to give me a Sia coin.
