Hey Sal,

sorry for not responding sooner.  I'm not really interested in using an escrow service.  I would be more open to using a member as escrow.  But even that is a little time consuming, and time is something I'm short on.

pwn's bitcoins did come through finally.  They came in at around 6:30 PM central time - a good 3-4 hours after he sent them lol.  kinda strange, guess slow network or something.

Maybe it's my client - I'm running an older version.  No worries though, I see that you sent it in the block explorer, so we will just wait.  I have no doubt they will show up soon.

Still waiting for the coins to show up.  Since you sent from deepbit, perhaps there is a delay on their end.

I just sold 20 on ebay, in less than 12 hours.  $90/ea.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251227658907

I'll get back to everyone interested.  I was pretty surprised to see these go so quickly.

I have a huge pile of these cards leftover from my mining days.  I mined a couple years back for about 4 months.  Since then the cards have just been sitting in my basement, taking up space.  All of these 5850s worked great - I can't remember any specific issues with any of the cards.  I will verify to make sure fans spin before shipping.  They were only used a few months, and not aggressively clocked and voltage never changed.  I will guarantee that they work with full refund or replacement if you notify me within 7 days of delivery.

I have other mining hardware I'll be selling too, including some 5870s.  So keep an eye out for those listings.

I am asking $75 per card.  We split shipping.  I prefer not to ship overseas anywhere.

Thanks!

Very cool idea, just hope it isn't used to scam people.  How easy it would be to change the address without people even knowing it.

StopSpraying.us (Truth Media Productions) accepts Bitcoin donations
by
citizen
on 25/08/2011, 02:31:56 UTC
The website www.stopspraying.us - the official website of the documentary movie "What in the World Are They Spraying" is now accepting Bitcoin donations.  The website is operated by Michael Murphy, the producer.

He's working on his second film about chemtrails.  I know Michael personally, and I know he can use all the help he can get to pay for the new film.  G. Edward Griffin helped with the funds on the first film, but Mike's going to go it alone on the second film, which will be titled "Why in the World Are They Spraying" and I'm sure will delve deeper into the chemtrail issue in search for answers to the why portion.

I'd encourage anyone who hasn't seen the film to watch it.  If you're tempted to knock it, then you definitely need to watch it first.  You can't knock something you haven't seen.

Hopefully some people on the board know about this stuff.  Any donations for the project are appreciated.  It's estimated that millions of people have seen the film already.  You can download it, distribute it, etc all for free.  People are looking up.

Why don't they let people know what % of their holdings they can expect to see returned?  I'm glad I didn't have any coins with them, but I know a lot of people did.  There is really a trend of unfortunate circumstances arising out of the centralization of something intended to be decentralized.  MTGOX, Bitomat, and MyBitcoin

My sympathies to all who lost coins entrusted with these or other live wallet services.

Re: People still waiting for their MT Gox account

Apparently I had not clicked the "Submit my request" button to on the claim page found in the original link in the original claim request response email.  I'm not sure why the necessity to click the button escaped me, but it did.  I had submitted info, but never clicked the button.

So....maybe now my account will be straightened out?  It would have been nice if someone had pointed this out or mentioned it.  Is anyone else suffering from the same thing?Huh

See if you ever received an email after you started the claim process, it should have a link in it, click the link, submit as much info as you can, and click the "Submit my request" button that is like in the MIDDLE of the page.  I don't consider it very clear that this button needs to be clicked.  It was easy to overlook it or think it was just for submitting additional info.

Anyways, maybe this will helps others.

I've tried both my old password AND the "new password" that I used for the account claim thing.  No luck getting in.  I've also tried "I forgot my password" link to reset password.  I don't receive an email.

Re: Has anyone gotten their Account Opened at MtGox?
by
citizen
on 28/06/2011, 05:12:31 UTC
I have also been unable to reclaim my MT Gox account.  I had about $1500 worth of funds in it at the time of the meltdown.  My password was very strong - 15+ characters psuedo-random (computer generated) mixed case, numbers, symbols, etc.  So that should not be an issue.

I have initiated the claim process three (3) times.  The first two times I received an email and completed the instructions.  The third time I didn't even receive an email.  I just did the 3rd time today (the first was done as soon as the claim process was published, and the second a couple days after).

After the first and second time I created a help desk request.  "jesse" responded that all the claims would be processed on the 24th and I would receive an email.  I never got that email (and yes, I have checked my spam and done searches, etc....I have a paid google accounts email address).

Then on IRC they said the remaining unprocessed claims were all done tonight (about an hour before I'm making this post).  I still haven't received an email.  MagicalTux who I've spoken to a number of times on IRC in open channel and PMs about other topics seems to be ignoring my inquiries about my account.  I'm not sure why that is.

I've been around a long time with a very good rating in -OTC.  I'm an operator of #bitcoin-otc.  I'd say I have a pretty good reputation.  I would love to get my account working before I leave the country so I can feel better about those funds in there.  I don't understand why it is taking so long, why I can't get any responses, and why other people seem to have their accounts back just fine.  What is different about my account?  I have less than 24 hours of net access left before I'm gone on vacation for a week, so I feel even more uncomfortable about this not being resolved.

Re: EFF donations and the Bitcoin Faucet

It sounds like they are giving the coins to Gavin, and allowing him to decide what to do with him.  I like that idea the best.  He's reaching out to us to ask us what we want to do with them.

So Gavin, I would say use the majority of the new coins - maybe 75% for bitcoin client/community development.  We need lots of work on the client, so why not let those working on it get rewarded in bitcoins?  This seems to make the most sense!

Then 25% for the faucet.  I like the faucet and it's really cool.  But it is only pennies for new people.  The idea of someone giving away free money is really nice, so we should keep it going.  It's good karma Cheesy

@bahnfire or anyone else who can help:
What is your setup with the dual 6990's w/ Win 7?  If you would please give me some details as I'm trying to get mine where it should be.
I'm also using Windows 7 with Dual 6990's.  Currently I have them in crossfireX, using the latest poclbm and catalyst 11.5.  I've played around with several clock speeds, etc but nothing really make a lot of difference.
I have all 4 cores mining, but (3) are mining at 325mhs while the 4th is only at 100mhs.  Can anyone offer me some advice?
I'm using -v -w 128 --platform=0 switches.
(without --platform=0 for some reason everytime I started the 2nd core the whole machine would lock up)
Thanks

I was running 2 6990s in a machine with the sames results.  Cores 1-3 would work fine - getting about 320 mhash/s.  Core 4 would see around 100 mhash/s.  I too was using poclbm.  Has anyone gotten 2 6990s fully working in one machine with windows?  If so, could you tell us the details?

Re: BitCoins For Charity Launched Today!
by
citizen
on 07/05/2011, 09:11:47 UTC
I've thought of this before.  Another way it could be done is Bitcoins could be donated to the charity (or a dedicated receiving address for the charity run by a trusted party).  Then someone who is feeling charitable could donate USD/etc to the charity in an amount to cover the coins at market value.  When the charity confirms receipt of the donations, the coins could be handed over to person who donated USD/etc to the charity.

A good way to do this would be to find a worthwhile charity that Bitcoin users would be likely to support.  Get them to agree to this fundraiser, and then we can all chip in a little something.  It would be great for the charity, and good for Bitcoin as well.  A way for Bitcoin users to "give back."

When I was setting up the bitcoin.exe with -server argument, and had to create/edit the config file, it was a little confusing.  I was getting help on IRC, but the syntax of the config file entries were given to me wrong, so I wound up wasting a lot of time over something very simple.

What about having a config file and having all settings displayed in there.  Lines could either be commented-out or features could be set to OFF or values just be blank.  I remember when some programs would use .ini files for these sort of things, with different headings for different categories of settings.  It was actually kind of convenient.
