And to think that I've tried mining with an Intel Atom CPU. Some of these set ups are really neat. I might still do some GPU-mining in the future just to play around.

Re: Which is the best Bitcoin Exchange on the go ?

I believe most of the major exchanges have mobile apps - I can't recommend any particular app since I've never traded on mobile (nor do I have an iPhone):

Bitfinex - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bitfinex/id1079033582
Bitstamp - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bitstamp/id996483140
Kraken - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kraken-bitcoin-exchange/id914671502

Re: What will you do if you own 21 BTC?

21 BTC would be a nice round number to have stored away in cold storage. If I didn't need it for anything else right now I would do lock them away.

Maybe we're in the halvening already. The Halvening Day itself might turn out to be pretty uneventful. The effects of it though might stretch back a while back in time and forward into the future as well.

Blockchain is one of those tech buzzwords. Everyone and their grandmother is going to offer a blockchain. The innovation of Bitcoin is only partly the blockchain, more important is the permissionless and trustlessness nature of the system.

There are a ton of projects ready to take your bitcoin for funding. You can check out cyberfund for some projects currently fundraising. This will involve a lot of research and still no guarantees that it will be profitable. For lower risk investments with much lower rewards you can look into lending: for example Margin Funding on Bitfinex or Coin Mixing with JoinMarket.

Re: Can I trust Blockchain.info wallet?
by

I started my wallet there in 2013 and forgot about it.  I recovered it and now updated it to their "new wallet."

I saw a lot of posts on Reddit that say it would not be wise to use them. But I like the site and the app for my iPhone.

Dumb question, if I make an address with it, can I use that address with a different wallet? If so, do I just use the address and key to migrate it?

I'd recommend you to use Coinbase, as it is just as secure & best of all, Coinbase pays the mining fee. Wink

Coinbase is also much more invasive about your personal identity and the source / destination of your transactions.

Re: Why Bitcoin is the best future currency?
by
coinpr0n

Bitcoin has all the advantages of digital cash and allows one to be in control of their money. Although involves taking security precautions, it's what makes it such a good currency for the future.

I don't think we need to worry about the future of bitcoin, as it is getting more popular day by day and it will reached to many people  worldwide in coming years.

I agree. The ecosystem is way advanced now for it to just disappear overnight. Options are becoming available where they weren't before. More and more people are getting involved.

I spend bitcoin whenever possible, it is cheapest for me to usually to pay for things in bitcoin instead of converting to fiat - but sometimes that's inevitable.

Maybe there are options so you don't have to quit your day job. Depending on what it is you may be able to convince your employer or else use paycheck-to-bitcoin service (Cashila and BitWage that I know of).

I wouldn't trust more than just spending amounts with Blockchain.info - but I do use them and cannot complain too much about their service. I like the ability to import / export private keys although it's more about convenience rather than security. At this moment in time I'd use them before using Coinbase, but I have also been hearing a lot of negative statements about how they are wasting VC money.

Seems like they're just looking to profit off their name. Well, Silk Road's name. I haven't looked into it, but how is this provably the same owners as before? Did they sign something with a known private key? (Article says the owners are allegedly the same. Hmm.)

Banks should really be scared of bank runs, if everyone took out their money at the same time. It would expose how they run on unsustainable fractional reserves and exorbitant fees. They are "good" at lending out that isn't even there.

Re: ETH is good for BTC
by

I suppose ETH could've been even better for Bitcoin with some kinds of integrations or something instead of issuing a new token. At this point though it feels as if Ethereum has the network effect (or at least mindshare) for the smart contracts ecosystem. It's getting bigger everyday and it's starting to look like Bitcoin in relation to other altcoins when compared to other smart contracts projects. I personally have no investment in Ethereum so I don't mind either way.

Yes, very much believe in Bitcoin. I live mostly using bitcoin so how then could I not believe? Bitcoin is already here!
