I used the Windows Qt wallet, running on Windows 7 this time. Remember, if you get an error when first running it, please try opening the wallet again.

There is also a known issue where the Windows wallet can crash when you open it for the first time. Re-opening the wallet should work, if that is the issue.

In the meantime I got my hands on a Windows machine and am downloading the blockchain from scratch. When it's complete I will upload that bootstrap.

Sorry that didn't work for you! I created a new blockchain ZIP from a different wallet node: http://evilcoin.xyz/download/evil-blockchain.zip

It worked for me when I tested it on a separate VPS. Please let me know if this one works - if so I will replace the one hosted on Github.
