Re: Phillipino nannies remit over $20billion yr

You don't necessarily need to know what is bitcoin and how it works to use it for remittance. There are a bunch of start-ups that offer bitcoin remittance services.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-firm-enables-remittance-withdrawals-450-philippine-bank-atms/

https://rebit.ph/how-it-works

I've read about one of such businesses (can't find a link) enabled both senders and recipients to pay/receive in fiat, so they wouldn't even have to know that bitcoins have been used for transfer.

Thanks for sharing about our service - I'm with coins.ph, by the way. Our goal is to increase access to financial services using digital currencies / bitcoin. Remittance is a two-way process - there's the sender (OFW) and the beneficiary (family member / loved one). The good thing about this process is that it only takes the sender to understand bitcoin (how to remit money using bitcoin), and the process can be completed - money can get to the beneficiary through familiar means. Hence, we are very glad to add 24/7 instant ATM cash pick up into our list of remittance payout options. https://coins.ph/atm-cash-pickup

Advantage of remitting money using bitcoin? Convenience and being able to save on fees - hoping this could help motivate more senders / ofws to give it a try.

Quoting from techinasia article: "The new [coins.ph] wallet allows customers to shop at online merchants who accept bitcoins, but the real emphasis is on sending cash to family and friends, paying bills, and instantly topping up prepaid phones." https://www.techinasia.com/coinsph-launches-bitcoin-wallet-tailored-emerging-markets/

+1 I support coins.ph but why is it people save money using coinxchange.ph?

Anonz, please save money at coinxchange.ph because we try to beat coins.ph pricing at every opportunity.  So you buy bitcoin cheaper and sell it for more money back to you.

Pricing is one aspect of competition, but we compete on many others as well, such as transaction speed and transparency. Coinxchange operates on a different process than Coins.ph.  Here's what I mean:

Selling at Coins.ph:
  • You send your bitcoin to an address at Coins.ph
  • You wait until they tell you what they sold your coins for. Hopefully it's during their business hours or you could wait longer. You also trust them not to cherry pick a price that's good for them and bad for you.
  • You wait a little longer for your deposit.

Selling at Coinxchange.ph:
  • You send your bitcoin to your personal address at Coinxchange.ph.
  • Once the transfer confirms, you enter a sell order and you see exactly the price you'll receive (no guessing or waiting).
  • The coins sell instantly and then you have PHP in your account that you can hold or withdraw to your local bank. We do electronic/online transfers to five different banks.

Overall the process at coinxchange.ph is faster and more transparent to you.  And of course, cheaper as well.

If you're on Facebook, Jonathan Ong just posted a review of Coinxchange: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cryptominersph/.  You may have to scroll down.  It's a busy group Smiley
Can i ask you if you transfer to metrobank account and how fast is the transaction?

Just to correct the info about coins.ph, processing takes place usually within the same business day and there are actually 27 pay-out options: 16 banks, 5000+ cash pick up centers, door-to-door delivery, GCASH, mobile load (Smart / Globe / Sun)
