Any news on hosting for miners (non-canceled orders) that I understand were to be hashing now? I heard over a week ago we were to get a payout for the miners we paid for and kept hosting with steamboat. Anyone heard about or received a payout?
A Star topology offers a more direct route so that would be my first choice pending testing. Why not spend a little extra for two Pi units for less chance on a single failure causing problems? (both the primary usb hub and the pi)

Re: Need your help, new Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon
has something changed with the build of cgminer in this version?
=== from minepeon 2013-06-11==============
/opt/minepeon/bin/cgminer -help cgminer 3.2.1 Built with bflsc bitforce icarus avalon modminer ztex mining support.
==from the one I compiled from source on raspbian (works) ================================
cgminer 3.1.1
Yes the -S option was removed from 3.2.1, The simplest solution would be to just use your 3.1.1 binary. cgminer 3.2.1 moved to a direct USB access system.

Re: Gigabyte 7970 Ghz Edition is bad - What's good?
I have two 7970's - one GHz edition and one normal edition. Running them both on high I have no issue keeping temps under 80 degrees. I would highly recommend you look at getting some more airflow into your case. I actually modded my Bitfenix Shenobi to allow me to mount a 23cm fan directly blowing air onto the cards.
+1
I also Have one of each, they need light airflow or yes they overheat. I have a 180mm AP182, excellent fan and overkill but works well.
as a fellow pi user, they are great... but id drop the peon, arch is a pain, a normal rasp weezy and you can compile cgminer from git source hapily.. also worth looking at :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76502.0
Oh That looks rather easy. What do you like about the DIY method vs the ready made MinePeon Image?

I'm willing to keep an open mind on this... Any preliminary plans on how many chips per device?

A script for picking drivers sounds great, old driver for 5xxx and newer for 7xxx.
Thank you for considering this.

Agreed that hardware watchdog reboot is very cool. I would love to do that for my one problematic GPU rig as well.

To confirm, new cgminer will not make much of a difference right?

Anyone have success using a similar device with more processing power than the Raspberry pi? ODroid or others. This should work right?
* 1.7GHz Quad core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore * 2GB Memory * 6 x High speed USB2.0 Host port * 10/100Mbps Ethernet with RJ-45 LAN Jack * Android 4.x & Ubuntu BSP
Ouch, I believe that is twice in the past week EMC round durations have gone over 1 day. Although they did have a run with higher than average earnings right before.
Is this an inherent challenge with smaller pools? How should I look at this objectively?

I'm running rigs on BAMT with 58xx 59xx Cards. Stock drivers.
Would upgrading drivers and/or moving to cgminer make a performance difference? If I did cgminer then does it make a performance difference to run the latest stable version 3.1?
I appreciate any tips, I've been running a while but looking to optimize as much as possible.
