Re: blockchain.info not sending 2FA emails, locked out of wallet - recovery?

Sorry I'm making this a monologue... I *was* able to log in to the wallet using the app.  I had to log in with the wallet ID & password after clicking that I didn't have access to my camera.  All my coin is safe.  Well... the ETH & BTC is anyway, the app doesn't support BCH, which is still going to be held hostage until I can log in via the desktop.

Thanks to stupid Blockchain 'support' I had 2FA turned off for the first time EVER for several hrs today & TOR addresses were enabled.  I'm lucky I didn't get robbed.  (Note that 2FA was 'turned off' for I suppose anyone but me, trying to use my registered email address!)

THANK YOU to everyone in this community for spreading the gospel of smarter wallets.  A lot of us really are reading & heeding.

Yeah... I just downloaded the Blockchain app on my phone & it wants me to log in to my wallet on the desktop to do a scan!

Blockchain.info is worse than useless & anyone reading this should migrate their coin out of there ASAP.  If they let you!

People have reported problems with the mobile app too.  And I don't know how to set up the mobile app if I can't log in to the wallet.

I guess my question is... I've never had to do this before... if I use the recovery for the Blockchain wallet, doesn't this just automatically make another Blockchain wallet?  Would I just have the exact same log in issue?  And there's an additional step (I believe) of having to recover the funds, right?

Would that still put me a step away from having the funds in the Electrum wallet?

Obviously the easy thing here is for Blockchain to be minimally responsible & fix the 2FA issue.  Since that might never happen, what should be my next steps please?  It's OK to talk to me like I'm an idiot.  Cheesy

FYI I have BTC & the BCH I automatically got in this wallet & only as of the last day now some ETH.

This isn't a problem just for the OP, it seems widespread for Blockchain users.  They aren't providing support.  It seems to clear up for some people but it's absolutely on BC's end & not the end of the email recipient.

... the only thing I feel semi-good about is that if I can't get into the wallet hopefully that means no one else can either.  Had someone hacked it I don't think this is the set of problems I'd (and many others would) be having, there'd just be an empty wallet... right?

blockchain.info not sending 2FA emails, locked out of wallet - recovery?

Hi folks -

This is the first thread I'm starting.  I've only been reading this forum the past day & wish I had a long time ago.  Ironically today I was trying to log in to Blockchain to migrate my coin the heck out & BOOM, can't!

I've had the same wallet with Blockchain for a number of years & no problems.  I know my ID, I have my password, I have my 12 word sequence written on paper.  I would log in once every couple of months to see if my BTC was still there & it has been, every satoshi.

Yesterday I started the process of migrating my coin out of the wallet with the BCH they now support.  I did 2 transactions within the wallet for the max amount to exchange BCH -> ETH.  It turns out Blockchain is partnered with ShapeShift to do this.  It took FOREVER yesterday, I contacted ShapeShift customer service & they quickly let me know that the ETH end is crawling b/c of the virtual cat thing.  Last night I logged into the wallet to see the ETH was transferred into my account & I logged out for the night.

Early today I tried to log back in & rec'd the usual message to check my email for 2FA link.  No email.  Tried again several x, no email.  Saw on social media several others saying that Blockchain is not sending them 2FA links either.  Filed a couple of support tix.  One said I could reset email & 2FA.  So now Blockchain is using a different email address (I have access so no big problem) to communicate.  Still no email, not in spam folder & not in inbox.

Worse I gather too late that I might have unwittingly instructed blockchain to TURN OFF 2FA, which is not what I thought 'reset' meant.  I could turn it back on... IF I COULD GET INTO THE WALLET.

... or maybe I haven't turned off 2FA after all, because when I use my wallet ID & password I *still* get the message that a 2FA email was sent.  And none is.

Blockchain 'support' has not responded to my responses to the first ticket (which told me to reset 2FA) nor to my second ticket.  There are a bunch of us sending angry messages on their Facebook page & I've tweeted at their officers & @AskBlockchain & @Blockchain.  No response thus far.  It's a disaster.

My Q (finally): Is trying to do the recovery with the 12 word phrase to create a new wallet going to help me in any way, or is that just going to put me in the same boat with their 2FA email issue?  This seems to have been a persistent issue for Blockchain for months & yes I do plan on leaving them forever.  Thanks.

I can confirm the same issue as can many Blockchain.info wallet users on Dec 5.  There are many of us on social media who are being told to click a 2FA verification email that isn't sent.  Not in spam folder.

On top of blockchain.info being lousy security & sending BTC (I'm pretty much a noob just learning reading here how bad they are), they can't even dispatch an email.
