*cough* who do i report to if i cant OC it.

I have 4 ants. 3 oc'd fine. The last one reports 400 freq but still hovers at 180.

I know OC'ing is not covered. I'm very happy with the ants so far.

Just curious though Cheesy

Happy hashing people!

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti - Mining worth it?
by
cryptodrifter
on 03/04/2013, 22:23:10 UTC
If you are looking to enter the mining arena, I'd say play with it and get the mining working. Be warned of low hash rates due to it being nvidia.

But once you have a feel for the gui-miner/cgminer apps etc. Go bigger with a larger gpu.

At this point, the power draw may not be worth the output, but at least you can get a feel for what you will need to do if you want to pick up mining in earnest.

Good luck, and welcome to the fold.

Please note. From info/reviews i've heard, Powercooler cards are not good for mining. I wish i could elaborate more though.

But from what I've seen/researched, powercooler = not friendly to miners.

Re: ELI5 - Budget Rig
by

I am interested in building a budget rig, but am not at all sure where to start. I will probably just start with LTC since there is less competition there, but I still need to know the bascis and how to get the most hash for my buck. It is also important to know that I have to have a case, and I am worried about temps.

Anyways, I assume I will want to just install Ubuntu. So, what CPU should I go for? How much RAM should I have? Can I use different cards on the same system? Im doing research and looking things up as well, but thought I should at least start a topic and hopefully get some advice from those who have been there, and done that.

CPU - Any will do; they're useless for mining.
RAM - 1GB, otherwise it gets kinda slow managing the miner

You'll need to go big on the GPUs. ATI 5830s are preferred. They go around $100 a pop.

For LTC? I thought some of the other boards said you need CPU to mine better?

For LTC gpu's are now usable. Cgminer and Reaper are capable of mining LTC on gpu's

Re: FreiCoin (FRC) discussion (was FreiCoin (FRC) for TRC, PPC, LTC or BTC)

So essentially there isn't enough hashing power on the network to make things suitably quick?

My client is reporting 15677 blocks complete, and the last was generated 13 hours ago. Normally it takes but a few seconds to sync up.

Hoping the freicoin network is intact.

Edit - Decided to push some hashing power to the network for the evening. Lets hope someone gets the next block.

The network is still fine. For one, it's the exact same as bitcoin.

We haven't monkeyed with the proven parameters that make Bitcoin work, not even the targeted inter-block time.

As you can see at cryptocoinexplorer.com, the current block is 15677. http://cryptocoinexplorer.com:4750/chain/Freicoin

Thanks Galambo. I will be sure to check out the cryptocoinexplorer to make sure my client it up to the latest block. (it is now btw)

You may be having problems due to the disparity between difficulty and the current network hash rate.

Blocks are sometimes taking the entire network hours to solve and as a result the client believes it is not synced.

Keep the daemon-client running until the next block is solved and it will sync.

If you shutdown the client-daemon and the latest block it can get from the network is hours old when starting it again, it will again need to wait until current block is solved to sync up.
