I'm guessing you know the mining pools down at the minute?

http://pool.votecoin.site/  is DOWN!  ETA for fix?  I’ve got coins pending.  Thx.

I messaged on Discord and they said devs were contacted.

Pool is up and running. Sorry for the inconvinience.

Thanks, all good again  Grin

I'm writing a request to Bittrex to de-list ZClassic, with all the good reasons provided. This thing is only proving to be a pump & dump, with many new users popping up and losing money with it. An exchange like Bittrex shouldn't have crappy coins listed, like ZCL. Rhett is happy with the progress of Bitcoin Private, forgetting about his old two scams:

 Roll Eyes

Do you really think Bittrex will delist their biggest pumper? Or should I say, their only pumper these days.

They didn't list Bitcoin Private, which could've been even a bigger pumper & dumper. They seem to be looking forward to more solid projects than to volume. Moreover, if I recall correctly, they recently announced on Twitter that they'll be de-listing a few coins soon.

Let's see if they respond positively to my request. I want this crap to be limited to craptopia only.

says the person who's advertising a gambling website - I'd rather see your site de-listed from the internet to be perfectly honest

I can't seem to get my ZClassic Electrum wallet to see the network anymore.  I have some ZCL locked away in there from before the BTCP fork which I want to move.  Can someone please steer me in the right direction for this?

I have been searching but have come up empty handed.

Thank you kindly

there's a bit halfway down the page in this article that might help

https://medium.com/@zclassicce/zcl-your-wallet-options-after-31st-march-a774431840c9

basically this is a new electrum server that's available and is maintained by the community

I don't understand how people can trust this coin or even consider sitting on it after all of that massive pump and dump from february.

I think Zclassic has been dropped by the original dev team, who moved onto BTCP. ZCL has been transferred over to the community - there's a post here about it

https://medium.com/@zclassicce/whats-happening-to-zclassic-e9976fe8372f

they appear to be fairly receptive to communication on discord https://discordapp.com/invite/NRdczWC

seems to be active development going on with a new wallet

Hi Max

Yes, the whole concept would be of funding and steering a project through a publicised project's roadmap and, in effect, allowing people to buy into the timescale of development by committing funding to various aspects of the project. But yes, there would never be any financial losses as work would progress in the direction determined by voting. I wouldn't expect voting to be the main source of funding for a project, but I'm sure VoteCoin could be used in some way to raise initial capital also. Dependant on the project, there may also be a reward in some form based on the level of a person's contribution

We need your help.

I need your personal view on how VOT would be used in actual examples, in the circumstances you consider or explain why a decentralized system of this kind would be useful and where.

From the info you (all that want to help) will provide, i will try to get a better view of how such a system is expected to work, and see what from these opinions is feasible technically or fit VoteCoin concept and purpose better.

Please send me use-case scenarios and tell me why your example should work like that and what are its advantages in your opinion.

I will read and analyze all your messages, and i will be rewarding all really valuable idea that will get implemented with a symbolic VOT reward.

(i don;t know how much the reward will be, because i am not sure how valuable the ideas will be and how many, but i will be spending some of my stash to support this at least at a symbolic level if not more)

(you can contact me via message in here, public or private, or email to max at votecoin.site . Public replies would be better i think, but in that case discussing your idea more in depth wont be possible.)

Hi Max

You're doing an excellent job of keeping interested peeps (like me) informed of the progress of this project as well as your obvious enthusiasm for VoteCoin, so very well done there.

I'll keep this brief and sketch out the main (but by no means the only) use of VoteCoin that I see - apologies if this turns out to be longer than anticipated...

As the coin actually represents a financial commitment when voting, then I don't think there should ever be a possibility of simply losing your money if you don't 'win the vote'. Rather, voting on some project priorities strikes me as a much better plan. As an example, voting on which wallet for a crypto coin should be developed with a GUI first (windows, linux, MacOS). This way, all three options will eventually materialise and the development time can either be divided as a simple 1st, 2nd, 3rd or a percentage of dev time weighted directly on the votes cast to the relevant windows/linux/MacOS wallets.

More generally, I'm thinking something along the lines of crowdfunding, but also including steering project direction through a voting mechanism. Effectively, funding and steering a project through it's development phase (and beyond).

So how would this work in practice? Well setting up a MySQL (or other) db to store options/results/project details/wallet addresses etc. which would be accessed from the clients wallet would be the way I'd tackle something like this, but I'm sure you'll have plenty of your own ideas.

I can probably elaborate on this a bit, but just thought I'd run this past you as a possibility before going into any great detail...

but how about the wallet.dat? it will also be replaced? I will not lose access to their coins Huh

Always have a back up of your wallet.dat and then try new things.

As I know new wallet (vanilla from Github) doesn't contain wallet.dat and there is no replace.

But I really suggest to copy wallet.dat in a safe place beforehand.

Yes, I copy wallet.dat to a usb stick and store it somewhere away from the computer - wallet.dat stores the keys to access your info on the blockchain so it doesn't have to be an up-to-date copy if you need to recover your coins, but you can hide it away in a safe and top secret place and not worry about what happens if it all goes bits up on the PC. You can also get one of those encrypted USB stick things and put it on that if you want to password protect the beast...

Thanks for the fee suggestion guys Smiley

Tom is now exploring z-nomp and trying to setup the pool fee.

As of now VoteCoin official pool mined and paid out 3916816.04419753 VOT since we launched it.
1% is about 39k VOT which equals roughly $1000 at current prices.
With that kind of money we can't do any serious marketing, but it is still better than nothing Smiley

Of course you could always use some of the 29BTC that you collected from the ICO rather than try and drive away miners from the pool - but hey, what would I know - I'm only a miner...

Btw, has someone tried barterDex already?

yes, I see VoteCoin is now available in 0.8.5-rc, albeit with the wrong icon... but it is indeed available

coinmarketcap - You can only scrape the rates historically on daily - they advertise an API SOON but nothing i know of right now

I did not know about it, thanks!

crypt~o~saurus sorry for the wrong direction.

Btw, has someone tried barterDex already?

no problem - what I have will be workable. If I've got time I'll have a wee look at BarterDEX tonight - I see some mention of VOT in the code...

Hi

Before I end up re-inventing the wheel, does anyone know if there's already in existence anywhere that serves up the historic price of VoteCoin/BTC in JSON format - ideally 1 minute intervals maybe going back up to 24 hours?

ta

Iain

Actually, that was much easier than I expected - a few minor hiccups but this is now all working - the output is a fairly simple btc price and time for VOT...

[{"btc":"0.00000320","timestamp":"2018-01-22 21:09:46"},{"btc":"0.00000320","timestamp":"2018-01-22 21:10:17"}]

but the web host is having some issues with PHP so until that's fixed it's not going to be a stable thing

Why don't you pick up coinmarketcap  API and make a request with python?
https://coinmarketcap.com/api/

hmmm - I can't see how I would get historic data from that at the moment (and I doubt it would ever be at the 1 min resolution) - is it possible? Currently I'm using the tradesatosh api to get the current rates and simply save this to a mySQL db. This gives me the scope to setup the data in any format I want using a SQL query, so for example those candle chart things would have 30 min intervals with a time, high, low, open and close value in each row of the dataset
