Re: WinMiner v1.91a - auto switch windows app for multi miner optimization
by

Tried the portable version last night.

Shut itself down within an hour or two - multiple times. Left miners running as background processes even once the GUI had already crashed out. Numbers never updated. Coin choices seemed all wrong. If it actually managed to run for more than an hour or two before crashing, the returns (based on the bench's and predictions it was showing me) would have been considerably less than NH.

NH was always stable. Never had crashing issues with it. Machine is stable. Nothing is OC'd. Pretty much everything non-essential was removed form startup long ago.

So, for now, I'm back to running BOINC (which is also nice and stable) for GRC on all available devices. But I'll need to set up some alternative mining on the GFX card to cover the running costs. Was hoping it would be this. But it seems way unreliable to me. Gonna pull the finger out and just run a direct miner I think.

Re: [ANN] TenX: Making Blockchain assets spendable

Hi guys, not into TenX but been searching for a good card after Xapo died (for non-EU countries). I visited TenX site but it looks like you cannot order card.

Anyone knows the easiest way to get MasterCard or VISA that you can use to spend crypto? Any company will do

You may be struggling.

I take it you are not resident in the EU?

VISA & MasterCard both put something in place which means card issuers for Crypto cards can only issue them to people in the EU. Doesn't affect just TenX. It affects any Crypto card issuer who is VISA or MasterCard certified. They are all in the same boat.

There are three things involved effectively. The company behind the card (TenX in this case), the card issuer (was WaveCrest, think they may have been replaced now?) and the card certifier (in this case, VISA). Rules work their way down the chain. And the non-EU part is a VISA/MasterCard decision (VISA made it first, MasterCard followed later), so they all get affected.

I believe this should be resolved in the longer term. That was certainly the aim. But I don't know what the current state of play is.

For me, TenX is a long term hold anyway. But even taking a long term view, they really need to get North America and Asia back on board. Especially Asia. I'm still expecting that to happen, but don't know when ....

BTC hitting $5000 was always likely to trigger a correction.

China banning ICO's. And crypto purchase status seems to be uncertain in China as well.

Combine the two ...... perfect dump-storm. Expect it to go down more before it (hopefully soon) goes up again. And I'd imagine the recovery of some China based tokens may be slow to non-existent. Could even end up with a couple of completely dead ducks out of all this.

Fun times!

can someone explain what the term AIRDROP means in crypto ? all I see on google is something related to an Apple software to transfer files etc...

AIRDROP = free tokens ( in this case free IND if you are holding PAY tokens) doing someting (register to a site , twitter facebook,)

it is a marketing strategy that some tokens/coins do

if you want the details: https://www.ethnews.com/indorse-announces-token-airdrop

It said that a snapshot of the blockchain was taken on August 18, 2017. Do you know if my coins were in bittrex I'll receive this airdrop or they should be in the wallet?

In case iI receive the airdrop I'll have the possibility the doubling them just putting my email and eth address. Could I put my bittrex eth address or should be the address of a coldwallet?

Tyvm

They'll need to confirm.

Much like any other airdrop (XLM did one for BTC & XRP holders recently), it will be up to the exchange if they support it. Bittrex did support the XLM one, so you'll have a decent chance I'd guess. But only Bittrex can tell you for sure.

The block explorer http://hshare-explorer.h.cash/ shows total coin supply at 84,000,000 so what is then left to be mined? I wonder why the expected total coin supply is already reached without POW  Huh

I think the current tokens are like an IOU of sorts.

They will auto-swapped to the new type, and the old ones destroyed, once they finish developing it.

From what I could find on Binance (they have a brief ANN for it) and the (badly translated and vague) white paper, this is a "we do everything" hub that will sit in the middle of ..... everything. And do ...... everything!

Some seriously lofty technical targets. Nothing to back any of it up. Little info on the people involved. And a big price tag, for effectively .... nothing. As things stand.

If it ever gets that far, might be worth trying to mine some of the final version when PoW becomes available for it. If that's even possible. Looks like a couple of the backers are Chinese mining companies/communities. So they'll probably be all over it and home miners will struggle to get much out of it.

Wave-trading ..... yeah. Why not. Make some easy fast cash. It looks like it has the volume to support it. If that's your game.

Would I buy and hold? Nope. Seems a high ticket price for something that's completely vapour-ware at the moment.

Marketcap is grown huge. And a dont know anything about this coin...  is a good technology??? Or just pump?

Who knows.

It doesn't exist yet. And the white paper doesn't give anywhere near enough info to make a call like that.

I'd class it as "Hype-ware" for now ....

I have read the OP but I don't understand why you need a coin/token to share VR content.
What is the market?

The market (they hope) is the mobile (ie - phones using VR add-on's, the cheapo end of VR) one. Initially.

Their token is a content promotion/propagation/reward mechanism. That's the cryptocurrency part of this.

Technically, the VR part is not required. They have chosen to build a VR platform to apply their content promotion token to. It could just as equally be applied to any other digital content. There are already other projects out there doing similar. (Curation/promotion/advertising tokens that is.)

That's what puts me off this one. The VR part is expensive, technically difficult, has a questionable size of user-base (who can use YouTube to view the same type of videos - and YouTube is pre-installed on pretty much every phone on the planet), and is not really related to the token in any real way. It's only VR because that's what they've chosen to attach it to. Lots of extra expense which is of little real benefit to the token. And they are not looking like being first to market with the promotion part.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I won't be investing unless something in their business plan changes radically between now and the ICO starting.

And I'm an early VR adopter. Who spent a pretty decent chunk of cash, and has a dedicated room, for my VR setup.

Sorry Spectiv.  Undecided

by

Im not sure even Jihans and Rogers hands are as strong
It may be a poker game, but BCH lost a big battle here IMO
what happened is vast majority of miners just got up and left as soon as diff increased. it means they are not supporting BCH beyond some possible quick buck.
I think BCH will try to trigger emergency diff adjustment, its the only card they have now.
for EDA to trigger there has to be less then 6 blocks mined in the past 12hrs
as you can see viabtc and unknown mined last two blocks more then 3hrs ago
I think they either gave up or will try to trigger EDA before prices start to drop too much

And this is why adaptive difficulty is bad.

This puts us back in a similar situation to when the fork first happened. Not enough hashing power to get blocks through. Price pump to encourage miners. Temporary switch. Difficulty drops. Miners follow the profit. Then follow it back. Hashing volatility in both chains.

Not good for anyone.

Why abuse?
BCH difficulty was very low due to few post-fork EDAs, and many miners started switching after the price started increasing just before retarget.
The result was mining next 2016 blocks much quicker.
This, in turn, led to x4 diff increase for the next period.
So, this is not "Error by design" but rather "works as designed"

Because it's only happening because of a combination of price and hashing manipulation.

Which is causing instability in BOTH chains. As the hashing power moves around following the best payout, one chain speeds up, the other slows down. Until the profitability flips again, and they all go back in the other direction.

When you have self interested whales, and self interested miners, playing the numbers to make the most money is always likely to happen. And clearly has been for the last few weeks.

But in the longer term, I agree with the Bones guy, that isn't good for anyone.

And if a third chain is spawned in November, I hope to god it dies off quickly because the hashing jumping between THREE chains will only make things worse ....

what was the ICO price ? is it still undervalued or already above ICO price ?
Going to buy some

Lol it's slightly higher than ICO price Cheesy ICO: 350 PAY: 1 ETH

It's considerably above ICO price.

I bought in for 3 ETH. At ICO time, that was around $900-$950 .... ish.

With todays ETH price, my buy in was slightly less than $900.

My holding today is worth $2765. So approx. 3x ICO price as things stand. If I'd left it in ETH, it would be worth less than when I bought in. If I'd left it in BTC (I moved ETH to BTC and bought in with BTC to avoid the GAS fight when the ICO opened. It worked.) That BTC would be worth more than then, but not as much as my PAY is now.

So yeah. I'm happy so far. And they haven't even started payouts yet. That's all free money (in ETH - which is also going up again now) on top of the token gains. Which are irrelevant to me as I'm holding. These are a long term payer. Worth a lot more than $2 a pop (or whatever they're at now) when you factor in continuing payouts.

Right, 350 PAY = 1 ETH, but there was also a bonus. I paid 0,75$ for 1 Pay. They Price today is ~2,80$. So its approx ~4x for me

Yeah. I think everyone got the bonus cos the ICO was done in under 10 minutes. (now we see why....)

Supercomputing is the new hype and this coin should pump soon.

lol

Next big thing? Keep up FFS!

Welcome to 15 years ago.

Which is how long BOINC has been running. Distributed computing is not new.

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php

Also, http://www.gridcoin.us/Guides/whitelist.htm

... which has been running, partnered with BOINC, for almost 4 years.

You know, doing actual real distributed computing. Rather than just proposing doing it like the ones you listed.

I need to push more on their reddit/git for marketing and adoption work. The coin is there. The projects are there. It all works. It just needs more demand/marketing at the output end ....

(GRC is also only $0.03. Given than Golem is 10x this price and barely in Alpha, GRC is undervalued given how much further down the path of being a working product they are ...)

Looks like all the dumpers realized Jack is as much of a joke as a gathering of indians at a hindu conference LOL

Is that meant to be funny, racist, or both?

If they want to aim at a market 4x the size of the USA, where Google Play is NOT dominant, and the government is not sniffing around every asset you own, that gets my vote.

Unlike your shitty racist humour. Which does not.

Meanwhile, in raw fiat terms (as I converted fiat to buy in), my MGO is still worth about double what I bought in for.

I await your riposte of feeble insults and abuse. Internet insults, especially on sites like this, mean as much to me as you do ... ie. fuck all.

2. We are working on a solution to exclude PAY tokens stored on exchanges and in the internal TenX contract from receiving part of the 0.5% rewards so that you as the token holders receive more bang for your buck.

This ...... is possibly the best news I've seen on here for a long time.

Bigger cut for the proper holders. Nothing for the traders. Perfect scenario for a token like this.

(The TenX guys have loads of cash. They don't need the payouts ....  Grin )

next adress maybe can be Berkeley Univ Foundation BOINC,thay have interesting open source programm very much based on eth chain

Incorrect.

BOINC is now paired with a crypto currency. But it is not ETH based. GRC (gridcoin - the crypto attached to BOINC) is its own chain that runs on a PoS +DPoR model.

Nothing to do with ethereum.

I should know, I mine the stuff! (and help science whole doing so)

Drugdscovering was creating project on eth,but SONM devs came and thay have stolen boinc work and destroyed untill now

Don't think you're quite right there.

BOINC has been around for 15 years. GridCoin has been around almost 4 years. They have been associated with BOINC the entire time. Although moved to the current DPoR model in 2014.

Neither SONM, or the shard of it (drugdiscoveryathome), have been around as long. If anything, drugdiscoveryathome tried to create a BOINC project of their own. But there were "goings on" between them, and SONM, where they started out, but then got kicked out.

But my point stands. GRC is not ETH based. Has never been ETH based. And has been around LONGER than ETH.

One tried to absorb BOINC. Probably not realising GRC was already so well established. The other tried to create their own BOINC project as a SONM prototype/test bed. They were part of same team (probably, it all looks a bit shady) at some point. None of it worked out in the end. The BOINC people were not very impressed with them. BOINC is not driven by profit. Never has been. It's driven by science enthusiasts, and always has been. GRC is seen as a nice bonus by some of the long standing BOINCers. But most are more interested in the science than the money. They ran it for free for over 10 years without any incentive ....

Maybe you can't see or understand that, but that is how it is. Money isn't everything to everyone.

Thread on the BOINC forum here discussing the demise of drugdiscoveryathome here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=11747

All very off topic as regard to Spectiv. But you're still mostly wrong on this one.

FFS.

For the millionth time .....  Tongue

MGO is ERC223.

Bittrex infrastructure is not ERC223 compliant.

If/when it is, then they'll list MGO.

When than will be, nobody knows. You'd need to ask Bittrex.

Is it in their (Bittrex) interests to upgrade their infrastructure? Yes. Given that Ethereums development team seem to be behind the ERC223 standard.

Good luck finding one......

xvg, pie, esp

XVG is a good one. x10 is realistic not sure about x100 hehe.

Yeah. This.

I've got a fair pile of XVG tucked away. Already made my purchase money back on it with plenty profit on top. All I hold now is effectively a freebie. And, even as a holder of the stuff, I think x100 is HIGHLY improbable anytime soon. 10x? Maybe. In a few months. But even that is pushing your luck I suspect. It's ATH is only two hundred and something Sats ...

If you are an Exodus wallet user, they will now (sort of) do the work for you to claim BCH. (Requires latest version of Exodus so you may need to update first)

http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/how-do-i-claim-bitcoin-cash

They don't support it themselves. But they will send your BCH to a BCH address you nominate to them. Such as, say, Bittrex.  Grin

Haven't done it myself yet. But a friend used it to send his to Bittrex a couple of days back. Went through without a hitch.

If you don't want to install another wallet, and port keys, or just want to sell it, might be a good option. If you use Exodus of course.

But for what do they pay? For holding the tokens on your wallet?

They pay out to ALL wallets that hold PAY tokens. (in ETH)

But if that wallet happens to be an exchange, the exchange will get the ETH. It's then up to the exchange if they are willing to split that out between the people who hold the PAY on their site. As far as I'm aware, no exchange has made any such commitment.

So yes, if you want to be sure of getting your payouts, keep them (your PAY tokens) off an exchange an in your wallet.
