Re: JP Buntinx

Am I the only person that thinks JP Buntinx is bot and not a real person? I searched and didn’t see any commentary on this forum. I’m pretty sure JP Buntinx is not a real  journalist. Thoughts?

I have worked with him for two years and even I'm not sure sometimes  Grin

Your transaction took a little long to confirm, so before doing anything else you post a scam warning in a public forum? Stupid and irresponsible.

Re: [ANN] LakeBanker | Free Banking for the World

Of the people I've spoken to, their main concern is that LakeBTC (and LakeBanker) are based in the PRC. I think they're worried (whether it's valid or not) that the Chinese government may one day crack down on token sales, or introduce a new regulation that makes the platform non-usable. Similar to how China has slowed down the growth of Bitcoin exchanges by limiting bank transfers in and out.

What would you say to reassure them? Alternatively, are there any actual advantages to being based in China over other countries?

If you're into ICO news there are a few sites that aggregate them & are always pretty up to date. Here's one:

https://www.icoalert.com/

CoinDesk still does good reporting but they have more a general blockchain focus these days. Bitcoin.com is OK, has a fairly anarchist bent.

One new site is Bitsonline.com (disclaimer - I write for them so I'm biased). It's made up of people who used to write & edit for the two publications I mentioned above. Check it out:

Latin America, Southeast Asia... these are the regions where Bitcoin & blockchain payments should really take off – but how to get through to the people there?

I haven't done any blockchain analysis of it, but I'm assuming they got moved to other Mt Gox 'cold' wallets where they were gradually siphoned off by whoever stole the rest of them.

If anyone has more info than that, then bitcoin fame awaits! Everyone would love to know what happened to those coins.

You'd be a pretty useless journalist if you didn't at least try it.

Probably nothing you didn't know already, but here are some direct explanations from OKPAY on the issue:

Is there any way we can check if the dividend addresses we provided are official and valid?

To this day I'm still not sure if the address I emailed was ever received/registered or not, as there was no reply.

Got this message yesterday:

Hello,

Refunds for R17 ended on May 1st. A refund may be possible after Black Arrow ships if there are enough requests from R17 to refund a full unit, however at this time it cannot be completed.

Thanks,

I'm going to hold on to my whopping 1 share just for the fun of it.

But I would really love to be able to log into DZMC's site to see my order & details. Sent an email support request and got a link, but it was just a broken version of their old site that did nothing.

So I wrote about it all for CoinDesk: http://coinde.sk/1h2nD6u

Hilarious that so many seem to think this constitutes some kind of promotion or ad for the company... think I wouldn't last very long in advertising if I wrote copy like that.

Re: Why Doesnt Satoshi Continue Replying on the Forum?
by

Whoever Satoshi is/was, he knew enough about strong crypto not only to develop bitcoin, but also to understand what happens to people who release such power balance-shifting technologies. Especially ones that actually work.

I'd say he had a pretty good memory of what happened to Phil Zimmerman after he developed PGP in the early 90s, and wisely chose to not reveal his identity.
