Gifts are much better at making profits than others, and also in my experience buying new coins from the exchange, where the price is still very affordable, and holding it is the most profitable thing. However, everything depends on you.

Recently, I was thinkig. Is there really any reason for the BTC to be the market leader? The only thing that is giving the value to BTC is pretty much the fact, that it was the first crypto currency. It is the grandfather of all cryptos. But we know it has its flaws... It was never designed for broad usage, it has scaling issues and so on.
On the other hand, we were given ETH. The Crypto Kitties or w/e the awesome internet meme ETH appliction is called showed us, that ETH network has issues with high amounts of usage. BUT, 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard, brought to us by ETH. The smart contracts using the Solidity are extremly good piece of technolgy.
So my question is. Do you think, that BTC will keep its leadership, or will ETH be the winner of this year and surpass its ancestor?

When ether is coming soon, I always think that it hasn't reached that right all the time, and that is what we will see in 2018. Demand is there, infrastructure is there, and technology works well. Just need a little big push to make ether the best.

The best key to finding the best ico is to investigate and read as much information and all important, positive and negative aspects as possible, to find out whether the coin is good or not to buy.

I depend on certain altcoins because there are many altcoins like ethereum and litecoin that can be stored for long periods of time, they will provide good profits if you are right in time, but you can't do it with every altcoin on the market.
Bitcoin is the oldest and most valuable cryptocurrency, but a crop of nimble competitors, including Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash, could lure investors away.
For other coins that want to croak a bitcoin crown, then they should come up with a better and sophisticated technology offer.
If still below that, then it will be difficult to provide great resistance.

The biggest problem of altcoin is the decline in market value. The seller buys and buys a lot of altcoins when the price falls and hopes to sell it at a high price, until when? No one knows. As long as altcoins do not have a stand in determining their own prices, I think that forever will only be a complementary coin, not a priority.
I would not recommend moreno to anyone, or even beginners. Everyone must be careful about what is called a privacy coin, financial institutions in many countries request exchange of cryptocurrencies to remove privacy coins such as Monero, Zcash etc. Better you choose the already popular like Bitcoin or ethereum.
I bought some Litecoin when the price was on it's way up. The price took a dive but I've been holding them in the hope they will recover to their former glory. This doesn't appear likely to happen any time soon, would I be better off selling them now and limiting my losses and investing elsewhere or do you think it's likely to achieve a higher price in the long term? At some point, Litecoin will definitely shine again, but the development team must step up and do something great again to achieve that. When bitcoin will have the next bull run, litecoin will increase as well, but I think the price will be a little slowly than before, market trauma will greatly affect purchasing power.

That can happen if the internet network will be everywhere and stable. Now it is impossible, what will those people who live in the area where the internet is bad? Not crypto, but cash. Not everyone uses a credit card so what do you want from cryptocurrency.
