Bounty program link is missing. How many BARC tokens are allocated for bounty?

Project is promising. I like that you already have an app on Google Play. People participate in many loyalty programs and Bartcoin could simplify user experience by providing one platform for all programs. But you need very aggressive marketing because if there will be no users, shops and businesses will not join.

Thank you! We are doing our best and working on marketing hardly.

We allocated for bounty 5 040 000BARC

Re: BTC Lending Market (Poloniex) Discussion

Hi. Could anyone explain to me if there is any easy way to see the current interest rate one is paying on a margin loan on Poloniex? I know I can go to lending and see what's on offer. Some of the rates I am seeing like .001 which I think comes out to 3% apr seem really low to me. How can I tell if that is the rate I'm currently paying without going to the lending page?

thanks in advance!

Uber apparently has a $40 billion valuation. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/investors-unfazed-by-uber-missteps-153329387.html

Would be pretty cool if Counterparty could develop some relationships with co.'s beyond the bitcoin economy, like uber and lyft. One would think the asset function could maybe be a good way to develop loyalty to individual drivers and companies.

Ubercoin as a Counterparty asset anyone?

I think the more we can avoid the paranoia and trolling that affects other bitcoin related mb's the better. Insider trading to varying degrees is a fact of life in just about any asset. However, I personally haven't seen anything with Counterparty/XCP that is indicative of that. Maybe it happens but it is nothing near IMO the wild eyed conspiracy you seem to believe in. Maybe you just bought and sold at the wrong prices. Anyway, if it looks and smells like a troll... I'll stop feeding it...

So how about that rewards points idea and the functionality of the platform to be able to buy XCP directly with $. Anyone have thoughts on that?

I'm gonna be a hypocrite here and talk about the price despite myself. Anything with a market cap of $15 million or so will be inherently volatile. There is really nothing wrong with that until XCP and Counterparty grow much larger than it is now. If, hopefully XCP market capitalization (the value of all XCP) reaches say $150,000,000 or $50 an XCP (roughly a quarter the market cap of overstock) then maybe it might make sense to work on greater stability. I'm not a huge fan of volatility, but I think it probably draws in as many people as it turns off.

Let's revisit all this when XCP is at $50 WinkSmiley

Regarding the recent XCP price drop, we want to start by saying that the Counterparty team has been silent on this because we do not engage in price speculation, as a policy. As others have noted, XCP is still a rather young, small and illiquid market, that is as of yet not trading on what most would consider a “major” exchange. Therefore, larger purchases and sales of XCP can and oftentimes do push the price up or down by quite a large amount.

Other markets, such as the physical gold market, and BTC (e.g. via Second Market, Coinfloor, etc)  oftentimes have OTC markets (i.e. off-exchange markets) where interested buyers and significant holders may advertise their desire to buy or sell larger lots, in a manner that does not directly affect the market price. We are in the process of working with certain industry partners to see if such an offering could be reality for XCP. If this materializes, it should hopefully help to stabilize the price, while making it possible for larger positions in XCP to be entered into or exited in a more controlled fashion.

Yeah, I am sure it will be very easy to bring new comers after that insider trading mess.

I love this project and I think its a shame you try to cover up what happened instead of just admit there was a problem and maybe try to prevent it in the future. the graphs are not lying.
I really like XCP (I had xcp for long long time) but because I am not a super-duper-mega-ultra trader - I can't afford my self keep playing in this game.
that's all, no hate no trolling. just my honest opinion.

edit: thank all for your comments on my original post, I read it all Smiley

I like how user friendly Counterparty and its asset creation function are for non-techies like myself in terms of the accessibility of the platform.

Hope this continues to be a priority for the devs. Here are some thoughts (thinking out loud):

Would be interesting to see a co. issue reward points on Counterparty. Is there something in the works to make the functionality of rewards points user friendly?

I also think once the kinks of buying XCP directly from the counter wallet are ironed out it will be more user friendly, and also when one can buy XCP and BTC directly by sending fiat like $ to the platform. The money transmitter thing must be a big issue, but I would stipulate that the upside to having Counterparty more functional by avoiding third parties may make it worth the hassle.

Right now, having to obtain BTC and then use BTER to get XCP, then transfer to Counterwallet is probably too difficult for the mass of people who would benefit from accessing Counterparty-related assets like reward points...

Also, I would love to organize a Counterparty/XCP get together in LA... Please advise if anyone might be interested.

to the people speculating on the price

Early posters like myself right now and a few others in prior posts seem to be suggesting that at the very least you move your posts to the price speculation forum posted earlier. There is a place for everything.

This thread has been incredibly helpful for people who want to know what is going on with the Counterparty protocol and other initiatives to the development. We don't need speculation on the price action and reasons behind it on this particular thread. Because it's a distraction from more informative posts.

XCP is tiny and will continue to be volatile. I for one am probably not gonna sell for a long long time so I find the conversation on the protocol developments ten times more interesting than scrutinizing volatility that is fairly typical of many digital and other assets. Comes with the territory, now let's get back to the real conversation.

In talking about potential competition coming in, stealing ideas or code or coming out with similar products or even other competitors who may or may not have products with faster block times (like clearinghouse) I have only this to say:

A lot of my professional experience has been in business and marketing (business to business and corporate), in that world you come to learn some important facts very fast, namely it doesn't matter if your competitors have slightly better products or even slightly better deals. It comes down at the end of the day to how like-able you are. Assuming 5 people show up trying to sell a product, and all products are similar (even if 1 or 2 are slightly better or worse), the real determining factor in success will simply be if those who are pitching their product come off as better prepared, more understanding of peripheral technologies and companies within their sector and are people who the buyers of the product will get along with more and can imagine doing future business with rather than which product is "technically" a bit better.

I use that example to bring up something Patrick Byrne said about his choice on choosing Counterparty devs for Medici over the other projects which brought similar products (which may have been potentially slightly better or worse technically). His specific reason was that of all those in the 2.0 space offering cryptographic asset platforms, Counterparty devs had similar philosophy as Patrick, similar drive,  and he felt he could get along with them more and thus instantly saw a future of doing business with them.

This level of preparedness in the Bitcoin space as well as their ability to make sound and quick judgement calls that get shit done the right way the "FIRST" time is not something you can find easily even if you were to look at other platforms with similar technology...Also keep in mind that there are plenty of genius people who can spend years innovating, but you can't just look at the crypto-coin space from a computer science perspective, you also have to look at it from a business perspective, WHO will be the first to bring real and usable products to market?

This is why I have full faith that Counterparty will reign supreme in this 2.0 space, they have all the tools not just technically but also mentally and spiritually that will be needed to be the global leader in providing cryptographic asset creation and now smart contracts as well  Wink

+100

I agree. The straightforward and non-megalomaniac approach the Counterparty Devs used in their whitepaper is what initially won me over. They seem like a group that knows how to play well with themselves and others vs. the socially impaired ego maniacs we all too often see in this space.

Long overdue given the considerable investment from Patrick Byrne and the sheer intelligence and initiative of the core developers.

Could easily become another bitcoin in terms of return over time. I'm holding.

The fact that counterparty is still at an $11 million market cap despite the Byrne news is mind boggling. IMO should be 5 times that, as least as much as BitSharesX and probably where Litecoin is (10X). Byrne, some Mormons, and myself are going to make a killing on this thing.

I'm confused by the outcome of the vote. I didn't vote I figured it didn't matter much-- market would set price. Now I have three sets of swarm in my wallet. "Swarm", Swarppre, and Swarmvote2 . Which one(s) really reflect the true amount of swarm I own. Which is the legit, traceable currency? Any info appreciated. thx.

I agree. And no promises that funds are safer than in a bank (big bits warning flag- just incredible). A bunch of developers plugging away on a very useful platform is very different than an ego-maniac developer making outlandish claims in convoluted language. What initially drew me to counterparty was in part the developer's modest and no-nonsense mission statement.

But the fact that fundamentally it is a collaborative project and not a money grab ultimately differentiates it.

Anyone here follow BitSharesX? It seems like a scam or at the very least a beta project that makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. How does counterparty plan to continue differentiating itself from such obvious scams, and is there a contingency plan for when the SEC or other govt. entity does a crackdown that doesn't differentiate between legitimate projects like counterparty that are done with little hype and plenty of real development vs. altcoins like bitsharesX that smell really bad?

Some of the articles on here discuss the problems with bitshares http://prestonbyrne.com/back-of-the-envelope/

Serious replies appreciated!

Counterparty separates itself from scams by not being a scam. If there is ever government action in the 2.0 space, Counterparty sits head and shoulders above other projects as there were no funds raised (no IPO). It's worth noting that Counterparty is an open, agnostic platform. Legislation and regulation will occur jurisdiction by jurisdiction while Counterparty is available world wide.

Also, we kind of touched on this in recent posts, but it's worth noting that Counterparty's development team is crushing everyone else. Perhaps I'm wrong and it's somehow a close race between Counterparty and other project devs (if it were even a competition). Even so, we're sitting on devs that are funding our project completely out of their pockets as they work on it full-time (giving them a significantly higher cost per XCP than everyone else). That, above all else, makes me confident in the future of Counterparty. They know what the road map is better than anyone else and they, as intelligent, informed individuals, are continuing to dump time and money into a quickly moving project that appears to be accelerating.
