Incidentally, "We are still waiting to hear back from the bank regarding our remaining account balance" suggests to me that they may have received the check, but that it was for an amount less than they were expecting.

Agreed. I've been trying to make sense of the words chosen for that message. It doesn't say "our account balance", what is the significance of "remaining"? Always more questions than answers.

Really glad I only had a couple bucks in there. Cool

Luck you! You know what fucking annoys me the most about this whole fucking thing? As a rule I NEVER would have had that much USD in my account under normal circumstances, but when Roman tipped his friends  off ahead of time that he was shutting down it created a huge bitcoin buying demand by those lucky few getting rid of their USD at whatever price possible, drove the price way up, smart traders like me, having no idea what was about to happen, saw this spike rising and took advantage of the demand and I did what I NEVER do and I sold a nice big chunk of BTC. I forget what it was, like 20BTC I think and planned to buy back in as soon as the price stabilized.. but no sooner than I sold my coin and before I even had a chance to create a buy order Bitfloor halts trading and Im sitting here with $4k USD in my account ... I NEVER HAVE THAT MUCH USD IN MY FUCKING ACCOUNT.

There is so much shady suspicious bullshit going on here it makes sick that I ever felt any sort of trust for that fucking criminal.

Same exact story here, but with different numbers.

Well I sat this one out, was nice to watch. This does however change my view slightly to...not sure really. What's a cross between a bear and a bull? Yeah that. That's me. Probably.

That reminds me, while Proudhon's latest bull-stance is off-putting it's been a while since he has popped up here. Where is our friendly bear in bull's clothing?
Is he not a bull in bear's clothing?

Something like this, perhaps?

The odd thing for me is that this does not feel like panic selling ... just relentless selling pressure. Yesterday, when we broke below 120 we went into freefall ... this feels very different ... worryingly so
That's why i don't think we've seen the bottom yet ... no panic and not even that much volatility

This feels like people are throwing in the towel. Capitulation, if you will. With none of the hype and buzz having any positive effect on the prices like it used to and a growing distaste with feeling like the price is at the whims of the puppet-masters, it seems like people are ready to step away for a while and let this burn itself out.

Or that could just be me.

ROMAN WHERE ARE YOU?? WE NEED TO KNOW WHATS HAPPENING

This.  Perhaps Roman is more of a doer than a talker.  I hope he does something quickly. I feel no sympathy, nor am i angry.  I want shit handled.

*I want to believe*. Perhaps it's misplaced optimism, but I don't find it too hard to believe he is simply ignoring everybody until he has something new to report. Some of the @bitfloor tweets after the 20th even say as much. Still, that voice is increasingly drowned out by "fuckingshitfuckfuckshit".

But will $120 hold?

If they maintain it and it doesn't hold, we go to at least the 90s

I'm not sure, but I put in bids at $120 with the last of my fiat  . . . and now I'm trying to cancel.

This is probably reported somewhere more appropriate but there's a half hour programme 'The Report' on Bitcoin on BBC Radio 4 right now.

alpacas talking everywhere these days.

So, has anyone received anything yet?   Still trying to remain positive.

                                                   type        status         amount
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 22:51:34 GMT   ach    pending    -xxxx.xx USD

                                                         Amount                         Balance
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 20:24:51 GMT    +xxxx.xx                         xxxx.xx USD
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 17:35:01 GMT    -xxxx.xx                              x.xx USD

The fuck does this mean?

Previously, if you put in an ACH request after the trading closed BitFloor would show it as processed and having left your account. Obviously it didn't actually show up in your bank. The snippet you posted simply shows that the ACH was attempted on 4/18  but on 4/23 the funds were put back into your BitFloor account. This should make you feel better as they still have a record of who had what in their accounts.

Any idea why Bitcoinity is still showing <140?

139.46 USD / BTC
mtgox    0.01   2 minutes ago    140.67
WTF?

Sometimes it seems to get "stuck", F5 usually sorts it out.

140 and climbing. We are roughly up 100% since March 22, even with The Crash.

However, if someone wants to be a thief, why not steal my money?

The fact that (some) people were given (some) warning about what was coming and even those that weren't have been able to get their coins out leads me to believe this wasn't a con-job. Why go for the USD and the ACH route but not take the lowest hanging fruit of all?

The silence and the speculation that this is more than a simple bank issue does raise a few questions, but if all the USD was actually frozen because of a LEO investigation wouldn't they freeze the coins too?

HI just find it a bit amazing that people are willing to pay 119 for 1 bitcoin with all these exchanges being shut and DDos'ing and hacking and considering how difficult it is to even buy the thing.

Sometimes forbidden fruit tastes sweeter.

But seriously, I was wondering today how much the surge in price over the last 24 hours is due to more people trading on Gox because they were forced there by the closure of other exchanges. I haven't thought too long about it but if you have more buyers forced into an exchange it could increase demand enough to raise the price. But this jump seems to be more than that. Another alternative is once we hit $100 all of the people on the sideline waiting for the green light decided it was time to get back on.

What's going on? Missed a day and we got from 80 to 130?

96 to 136 in 10 hours. Seems legit.  Wink

I think 150-160 in 7 days is reasonable if we stay on the bull trend. Of course that could change without notice. My bearish projection would be 105-120. There is absolutely nothing supporting my figures, so don't ask.

$111 - great price to buy. Looking quite oversold in the short-term.

After being froze out in a USD position by BitFloor I've been reduced to placing orders on coinbase and trying to predict the market over the next five days. Obviously my purchase points have risen over the last few days, including a small buy of 10 at $129 this morning. I ain't even mad about that one, I have a feeling that we will be above $129 in five days. Since this is the softcore lounge my analysis is based on nothing but that feeling.

It's hard not to buy more in the 1-teens, but I'm still trying to pace myself and do a bit of dollar coast averaging until my verification at various exchanges clears.
