Re: New ICOs and how to choose a proper one?

I pay more attention to the ICO in the field of finance and real estate, I think they will be the first really working projects on the crypto market!

To briefly expand on that, irrespective of the filed you decide to invest the  main thing is to look at the whitepaper and other places like telegram groups etc to gather as much info as possible. This will tell you if the project is worth while or not.

So in any of the ICO you are interested you join the their telegram group? It surely is a good way to get know the project team and to get the latest news about the ICO but it costs also a lot of time to get through the whole history of messages. For a bigger investment/participation in the ICO it is surely worth the time to have an overview about it.

There are few factors which you should consider before investing in an ICO like:
Motive of the ico: Why are they doing this? If it’s simply to provide a return on an investment, then buyer beware.

Experience of the Team: What has the team executed on in the past, together? It should first and foremost be technology related.

Capital Structure of money:  How much crypto are they offering to the public? Gauging demand for a crypto is key

Raising the adequate amount money during their ICO: This connects directly to the point above. If they raise too much money during the ICO, they’re going to have to clear loads of ‘flippers’. These flippers are those that purchase tokens during the ICO and as soon as the team lists the token on the first exchange.

Yeah, the flippers could be a problem for any ICO. Actually some of them have a kind of proof-of-caring in the ICO phase to avoid these flippers and to have people "on board" which believe in a long-term success of the project. Obviously this proof-of-caring methods can also be manipulated by the flippers or they are also a sort of spam from the ICO team. I don't know actually how many of the ongoing ICOs do have this "proof-of-caring" because in the beginning it can also have a negative effect on the tokens sale.

Can't believe that nobody (that I read so far) did not mention the movie Coco! Such a nice animated movie and in the end with a lovely story. We bought a new beamer and "tried" it with Coco...the beamer works well and I would like to see the movie again Smiley

To choose a good ICO project takes a lot of time.
- first you need to check the age of the site.
- second you need to check the domain, IP of the website in any country
- Tuesday you find out the image of the team is developing the project.
- 4th you need to check the idea of the project.
- 5th you need to check the contract smart.

The first point is not 100% clear to me. What do you check exactly there? And if the site is a new one...what does it tell to you?
The other points are clear Wink

This topic always keeps popping in the forum, Well in choosing a good ICO all you need to do is research and read all information regarding it because researching a ICO before engaging with investing, Your money is at stake here so you need to be sure in every decisions you make and try to know more about the developer, services, And the Products that will offer by this ICO.

Some newbies like me just rush into ICOs without proper research. Most local crypto groups mislead people by hyping a project and making people to invest. The gullible ones fall to this because some one who is grounded and knows what he or she is looking out for in a project will do proper research before investing.

Yep, I agree totally with you. There could be a hype about one ICO because of a good marketing strategy of the project team but the project per se could not be a good one or maybe not the adequate and for newbies it is not very easy to separate the good ones with the not so good ones. With the time, one gets more experience and learns continuously but meanwhile one should be careful.

Simple here is the formula.
Income - savings = spendings.

This one is the masterformula of the universe Smiley But this is also true.

My personal advices: Depending of the country you are living, the money one is spending in nightlife or just going to have some beer/wine could be the most significant. The best is to have a nice group of people and meet at someones place....normally its way more fun and you will never spend a lot of money Wink

What are your criteria to choose a good ICO? I am looking a little bit around and found have some interesting ICO in mind but I am still not sure if to buy some coins or not. Actually there is for example this ICO running now: www.culturalplaces.com . Its about a new cryptocurrency called Cultural Coin and it should be used as an platform for culture and events. Ticketing should also be paid with the same cryptocurrency. This is for example a project which sounds interesting for me. But obviously there are others also.
Would you choose this one or what are your most important ICO criteria?
Thanks Wink

The others already pointed the most important things out. I checked out also the culturalplaces project and will mention it in this list of criteria:

1) The ICO rating sites (they were already mentioned several times by other users...you know them Wink ) : This is or should be the first step to check if the rating of the ICO and also (very important) if it is a scam or not. If it is a scam, then you can skip the following steps (obviously) Smiley
Your project has quite good ratings as I have seen on some sites.
2) The whitepaper: Read it and read it carefully to understand everything. It could take some time but its worth it. I just overflew the culturalplaces whitepaper...its well structured and explains in a easy-to-understand way.
3) The roadmap: You should know where the project is now and where it will be in the future....the roadmap should show you all and in compact form
4) The team: Does the team look serious? Do they have experience in ICOs and cryptocurrencies? Any special advisors? (the culturalplaces team seems to satisfy this questions)
5) The marketing and social media activity (facebook, twitter, telegram, etc etc): Also very important....check it out and pay attention if they are active there.

That are my most important criteria. Anyways....just because of curiosity: Are you already an owner of some cultural coins? Wink I have seen, that the ICO is still going on...

Yes, I know the ICO websites, thanks Wink Checking the ICO ratings there is also one of my first steps (if the ICO is listed there...if it is not listed, then I wait a time or search on other ICO rating sites).
You are also totally right with the social media activity too! No marketing-->no buyers-->no selling product-->as simple as it is.
To answer your question: Yes, I am already participating in the culturalplaces project Smiley The ICO is now in phase 3....so there is still 2 weeks left.

Glad to see this project listed on Coinschedule

For those interested, you can learn more about the project here Smiley https://www.coinschedule.com/ico/cultural-places#event2488

Ahh nice to see it on coinschedule! Actually I came to culturalplaces because I was searching some new ICOs on ICObench (or some other site) and this one had a quite good rating and the projects idea to use blockchain for ticketing was also one big reason for me to have such an interest in it.

Re: Future of ICOs?
by
doughnut

ICOs will evolve into STOs (Security Token Offers) which are mostly the same thing, but regulated. Unfortunately ICOs are raising funds from the public without any rule, some of them are scams and other ones do change rules after they announced things, even after people have invested in them. I do not like regulation, however I don't like to be in the "law of the jungle" either. There has to be some order and unfortunately this means some kind of regulation. Also, I don't think that they will be as attractive as today. They will change, evolve, and adapt.

I can understand your concern perfectly because unfortunately they are a lot of ICOs going on which are really a scam. but fortunately they are also ICO rating sites where one can eliminate the real scams from the more serious ICOs. The second step is then to trust the project and the team. Maybe the security token offers are a better option for the future because there will be more ICOs in the future and one can feel really lost in all that.

A good perspective ICO can be seen immediately, as soon as its ANNTread appears on the forum. Many comments at once, and not simply: "good project", "good luck to the project", and meaningful comments. A promising project has charisma. This is immediately felt.
Yes, I can just confirm that. After a while here in this forum I got a feeling to that. Actually I already joined the cultural places ico and now have some proper cultural coins. This is my first ICO where I am really part of it....its really exciting to join a project and follow it...feels good to me now Smiley After all I think that I joined a serious project. There are a lot of interesting projects out there, but as I am also interested in culture and music (especially music) this one was the one which convinced me.

Hey, I'd like to see the video, but cannot find it. What is it about? And when are we expecting the next announcement?

Hey Smiley i have answered the question in the post just above your own...you can look it up over here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3080625.msg34617759#msg34617759

Funny coincidence...just a few hours ago, one of the moderators once again confirmed on the telegram channel, that a new announcement is going to drop in a few days. ^^
Ooops, sorry, the thread is getting kind of long Cheesy But that's good right, people are obviously interested. I am curious about the new announcement and will follow up on this. Thanks!

Haha, no problem, i am surprised myself how many other people are commenting too but i guess the potential is quite visible in this case. Wink Guess quite many have also been part of the bounty program - topic number one right now at the telegram channel besides the announcement. ^^
Yes....after a while its not easy to follow everything....especially in my case, when I come back here after some days. I just read about this announcement which should come from the cultural places team in this days....any news which came through or is it still a secret? Cant wait to hear/read it Smiley Did they tell on telegram when they will announce it exactly? Wanna stay informed about the process.

The idea of selling and distributing tickets for various events through a platform based on the blockchain seems to me quite interesting and really necessary in our world. After all, it is really convenient and fast, and even it turns out cheaper.
But is this really necessary? I've seen quite a few different services and platforms that give organizers the opportunity. Is it really so necessary to realize this on the technology of blockchain?
In my opinion it's safer to utilize the blockchain technology and I know that a lot of people still prefer not using credit cards for purchasing with the smartphone. And the Cultural Coin has its system, so in my opinion it’s a better solution.

I absolutely agree with you, besides the simple fact, that credit card fees usually are more costly and credit card data is way easier to manipulate/"steal" than blockchain-based services.
Totally agree with both of you! I know a lot of people who prefer paying things with hard cash. And I can understand them because you have way more privacy with cash, than using credit cards. And from time to time there are rumors about a ban of cash. Not right now, but some day. I guess that the blockchain tecnology will bring a lot of safety then.
The ban of cash would really be a great problem... also because there are a lot of people, that should learn more about these technologies before starting to play only with them. But for example there are fees with foreign currencies even with credit card or debit card payments with the local currency. So probably the Cultural Coin will permit to save money also from this perspective.

Exactly, the future will surely be "cash-less"....but it will take still a lot of time to be practical for everybody because the "older" generation did not grow up with so much technology we have now and dont know how to use it or dont trust this new technologies because of missing knowledge or information.

Can you give me your telegram?

I have read that several times before and am quite curious why crypto currencies are so often connected with Telegram channels...did they kind of advertise in the scene or are there special services the messenger does offer? Just curious. Smiley

Not really sure how it started but i assume the mixture of security measurements - as i said, your phone number is going to be invisible for others - useful bots for moderation and FAQ purposes and the inclusion of little gimmicks like crypto-specific sticker smileys is quite popular and holds the community together. Wink

Btw...are there going to be new announcements soon? The little video series about the asia trip of Cultural Places was nice and i am interested in the results to come. Smiley
@Sazakan: Where have you found the videos of the asia trip? Are they on the cultural places website or on some other channel? Would like to see how things have been there and also to stay informed about the project evolution Smiley

there are lots sites on online who search the best ico for u
so u dont have to spend much time in doing research about ico
1. ico bench
2. ico bazar
i used this to site for tarcking ico

Thanks for this info. I already know this sites and actually there are also much more ICO rating sites. This sites are kind of the first step to check out an ICO. First of all to check if it is a scam ICO or not and then the ratings and compare it to competitors. But this sites are in the end an additional informative source and one has to have some proper criteria for an ICO and of course...be selfconvinced of the project.

With so many ICOs coming around it can be hard to decide.
I believe it's important to make your own decision : not just to follow hype, you know (though in ICO field hype is a sign of success Wink
Take time and make your own investigation: read the whitepaper attentively, ask questions to the team and see how they'll react, review the team background.
Also, I can suggest you overlooking ICO listings sites. There are many of them where experts can give their opinion or rate the project. That also helps
Thanks for the answer. Of course one has to take care with a hype and investigate by oneself if the project is worth it and will/could have success. A good whitepaper is just the beginning of a good project. Are yourself very familiar to ICOs (or maybe an expert)? I don't want to join now a lot of ICOs....would remain more focused on one ICO. If you have a lot of experience in it....at first sight, what do you think about www.culturalplaces.com?

I think that credit cards per se will disappear in the future and will be replaced with blockchain based cryptocurrencies....maybe not in the next few years but on the long run.

I was thinking today about the fact, that also in the European Union there are a lot of countries like Denmark, Sweden, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland... that doesn't have the Euro till now and that offer very interesting sights... Payings tickets etc with the App and the Cultural Coins surely would be easier. So also here in Europe there is a great potential in my opinion.

Yes you are right. Neither Croatia, Bosnia or Serbia have the Euro (Bosnia and Serbia in fact are not in the EU) and there are already sightseeings in this countries which have an agreement with Cultural Places as I have seen on they App.

it seems the ICO you say is a good ICO and will be successful. I saw a coin that had sold almost half of the target. the coin on this project is likely to be sold out before the expected date. ICO criteria I like are like this ICO because it is obviously the development of their token sales.

Thanks for the answer! They already sold more than 6 million of the so called cultural coin in the second phase. What I like is that the project is clear and transparent.

ico is always a good way to invest. it just has to be the right one. The team has to be active and the ico must be transparent. and if there is still a good bonus in the pre-ico and the sold well, you can also get a good profit. but you have to be careful because there are also many scam ico today.

Exactly. The team should present themselves on their project webpage and also have for example a linkedin profile to check the team members. And an important factor is also the social media presence. Nowadays there are really interesting projects with novel ideas but you have to be present in the social media and have a high activity there. If there is no presence or just a little bit, people firstly dont know about the ICO going on or feel that there is low activity which is also associated with suspiciousness.
