This looks like a cool coin but private investors are already involved in it. That is poor practice.
Is this just a pump n dump scam for the early investors?
Sure the product looks cool and will be useful but it seems like it will be used to cover up a pump n dump so a small group of friends can profit huge.
anyways... it's still pretty early on... can I invest in FACTOM yet?
Now the questions is... who has the skills to actually turn this into a POS coin.
Isn't the dev an actual coder? That was my impression.
Even if he isn't, its ok. If he has a good job or owns a successful business then he can hire someone to perform the code change. It's not like it's a very hard change. It seems like every coin is switching to PoS now.
So when our coin sits at Bittrex, is Bittrex collecting a stake on those coins?
Probably. Bittrex is known for doing anything to make a buck. They even go as far as getting insider information from devs and running bots on their own site to accumulate cheap coins.
Wouldn't put that as a possible procedure at some exchanges, but there's no evidence that Bittrex is or isn't doing that. There needs to be regulations on some things in cryptos. Imagine if the stock market didn't have some form of regulations, the elite would certainly price fix and manipulate the market to there favor completely.
I've spoke with Richie before about just ripping all the staking code out; I believe that is what they do
While badgering Cryptsy to add us, I learned for sure that they do actually stake coins that have over a 24 hour maturity, which puts us right on the cutoff. That's part of the reason I was pretty mad at Cryptsy last week and stopped trying to get us added there. Imagine the largest wallet staking nonstop in a system designed to get around fees. Easily transferred in-system to not pay any fees on a totally staking node. It would be catastrophic to our inflation control system for both BALLS and MMXIV for us to be added and have that happen
So when some of you think we may be lazy not getting added to new exchanges, there are actual, concrete reasons we are doing what we are doing
I've heard directly from both Big V and BitJohn saying they don't stake POS coins due to them chewing up system resources. Though I do know back in the day Big V gave away pennies to us in chat that had been staked by cryptsy.
There's more and more competition to be an exchange. I'm hoping that we soon start getting way better services from exchanges. Point of sale systems, online checkout api, ATM resale options, staked coins, premium block explorer, mining pools, cloud wallets, registered proof of dev.
Cryptsy and bittrex should realize the potential that they have. They could end up being bigger than the NASDAQ in 5 years.
Right now coins are begging to get on exchanges. It should be the other way around. Exchanges should be begging coins to list on their exchange.

The price of many of these coins could be manipulated so easily. Especially the newer ones like STV. Someone could raise the marketcap of STV higher than DOPE for < 1 BTC. DOPE also could be worth 1000 sat next week.
I don't think price can be used while working together. It has to be a totally different way of working together.

Is POT going to be involved in any way with the 420 Joint Alliance?
Also, would this venture attempt to peg these currencies to each other? If anything like that, why would any copypasta pump and dump coins be lumped in?
It will never work if coin price is used as a factor of how the coins all work together.

It's nice to see D9 show up here. I give him a lot of respect for that. He's a good guy with good intentions.
I wonder if the POT devs will say anything here.

dopecoindude,
Are you going to go along with D9, Jyri, the POT devs and the CCN devs with being a public figure? If not, you probably shouldn't be the one to own the domain name.
PoS only with a multipool buy CCN set up looks good. I don't get why people sell this coin for such tiny profits. There's so much money to be made if you just hold it.

Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★
I'm posting this here because in my opinion the VIA community could use some more "fun". I know that memes usually have a trollish touch, but when they're good they get shared a lot on social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, whatever. They receive attention. They engage people. Dogecoin probably is the best example for this viral power and while it was surely a lucky strike, the lesson to be learned here is that any PR is good PR.
I think it's another good way to further create some awareness and engagement that I haven't seen leveraged so far with VIA at all. Just my 2 cents
