Thanks, edd, and your address has been added to the list as well. I doubt that there'll be any major discrepancies with most of any combined smaller ones covered by the last 15 BTC adjustment I've devised and outlined, specifically designed so to make sure all who've contributed are satisfied.
Oh, I'm sure you were very thorough and this does seem to be the best way to satisfy everyone involved.

I rarely visit this forum anymore and I let the domain registration of bitcoin100.org lapse some time ago. I agree with Ente that one of the two above options would be acceptable. I vote for returning funds to donators proportionate to their contributions over finding a way to continue with the original intentions since it would be considerably easier. Bitcoin100 was a noble pursuit and I think it served its purpose rather well, but it's probably time we moved on.
Bruno, would you care to contact Rassah or should I track him down? I believe he is active on Reddit and Facebook.

About b): I'd say this is two jobs: one trustworthy person to handle the funds, and, ideally, a group of people to decide that a charity is good to receive. If we find a few people to background-check charities (NGO, non-religious, only recently accepting BTC, charity exists long enough), finding someone to do the bookkeeping won't be such a problem.
About c): Uh, this is a very technical, very complicated, very confusing suggestion you made! :-)
Also, I think we still have too many funds left to just throw it in the wind randomly.
Another way would be to check who is still reading here. Maybe we have enough still here to be able to decide freely with the remaining sum. We'll account the spent funds to the absent donators, and the remaining funds to the ones here.
I, for one, am still here and open to suggestions to spend my donations differently than initially planned.
But I would still prefer a) or b) ;-)

I agree with just about everything you've posted here.
I'd prefer finding a way to distribute the remaining BTC to new charities but it seems that no one really has the time or motivation, myself included. (I haven't even updated the site recently!)
Considering that I'm the first response since your post about four days ago, I think it's safe to assume not many of the original donators check this thread regularly.

That was short, but he-he Bitpay dropped a sponsorship not Bitcoin but well I guess that was an ok tweet.
I'm surprised BitPay ever sponsored a sporting event to advertise Bitcoin. That doesn't seem like the group most likely to use Bitcoin. I know Florida is their home state though and they probably wanted to do something for the local community, which is nice I guess.
Sponsoring it again wouldn't garner as much press as the first time did. It may or may not have been worth it, depending on how much their potential customers are impressed by something like that.

Money hidden in multiple places at home?
When did she say it was "hidden?" I heard "from around the house."
In my house, at this moment, there's cash in my wallet, in my wife's purse, in the safe, in a drawer and probably a couple of other places I've forgotten about. The amounts are all under $1000 but I'm sure if I was targeted as Burt was it would all be confiscated and I'd describe it in the same way.
Well you obviously want to be discrete about having that kind of cash in your home. I am sure they were not advertising the fact that they had cash.

Without additional information my suspicion is on some marital problems or addiction or something other cause that I can't think right now. Money hidden in multiple places at home? With young/early school-age kids living in that home? It just doesn't compute. The fresh-flower market that I've mentioned before had one/two nearby jewelry/watch/buy-sell-gold kiosks. One day one of my elementary school classmates came to school with gold bars and started giving them away (I'll say 1/4M$ at the current prices). Some observant janitorial/custodian lady collected them back and alerted the administration. The real reason was alcoholism of the parents of that kid.
People and families handling cash/cash-equivalent-valuables have everyday rituals that assure their safety, mostly from common crime. I just can't seem to find such "safe-normalcy" I would expect in the BurtW's family or any other family that lives with and runs cash-intensive occupation.
It would make more sense if they were addicted to some illegal drug(s), although it is not against the law to be addicted to illegal drugs (it is illegal to use/possess them though).
I still don't think it would be all that out of the ordinary for a family with millions of dollars to have $30k stashed in their house. I would assume that the hiding places were out of reach of children and possibly under lock and key
Keeping $30,000+ in cash on hand when you're trading bitcoins makes sense to me. I only trade infrequently and even then almost always in amounts under $1000, but I've had plenty of traders tell me "If you know anyone looking to buy/sell $X,XXX or $XX,XXX worth of BTC, let me know." Someone who trades regularly and in large enough amounts to make it fairly profitable probably comes across such traders quite often. Withdrawing that much cash or travelling to a location outside the home seems much more likely to draw unwanted attention to me.

At worst this sounds like an awful scam. At best this is terribly insensitive way to help the homeless.

Money is usually a universal salve. Clothes may not fit, food allergies may be a concern, etc, but money is almost always accepted.

No website or anything yet. We want to see if we are capable of pulling this event off before trying to turn it into a charity organization instead of a charity event. No offense about wanting our identities. I am not sure we want to trust just anyone with our identifications but if that is holding back donations then we could ask OgNasty to release our identities to a donator if we fail to deliver a video of a money drop.
I understand your reservations but you might have already reached the limit of what this community will donate. Threads get buried quickly so even if there are more members who might contribute, they might never see it. Exposure elsewhere may be necessary to reach your minimum.
It's a fine line, I agree. Raising too much poses its own set of problems.
