What they possibly could do? All systems are offline, what do you want? A personal receipt?
My opinion, that there's no point for Kraken to quit, especially now. They earn nearly million (or more) $ per day solely from the trade fees. It is a solid business they make there.
What they are doing - I think - is upgrading their buggy trading engine for ALL OF US - while in the same time sacrifising their own profit - being offline for two days costs no less than 2 mils...
I also have money there - but somehow I believe in their spirit...
And also the time is right - the fluctuations in market these two days are minimal. Couldn't be a better time frame to perform this upgrade.
Allow us access to withdraw, if all they are upgrading is the trading engine why not allow withdrawing?

I know there are talks about making sure your funds haven't moved but your funds are never stored in your deposit address. They're moved to our hot wallet. Similarly, if you request a withdrawal, your funds won't come from your deposit address. They'll come from our hot wallet.
No fiat or crypto withdrawals are being processed during this downtime.

I'm sure you can understand my skepticism with regards to that. I have a large amount in Kraken and just want a way to confirm my funds are safe other than a few words on a message board.

We are sincerely sorry about how long this update is taking. We know you're not happy and honestly, we're not either. This was supposed to take a handful of hours yet here we are.
Our entire development team is working around the clock to solve the issues with the trading engine, but as of right now we don't have an estimate as to when we'll be back up. Rest assured that your funds are as safe as they've ever been on Kraken. We're only upgrading a trading engine and your funds are exactly where they've always been.
Kraken isn't going to be the next MtGox and we're not running with your funds. Once we have an update we will post it on our status page.
We're anxious to get this up and running so you can see how great the new trading engine really is! We can't wait to release the Kraken!

Say we have FIAT funds on the exchange, can we put in a support request to have them withdrawn during this down time?
2 days really isn't good, not just that you keep saying "several more hours" in the updates giving false hope. Either give definite times or don't give times at all.
