Re: What's the most "legit" way to convert USD to MTGox/Bitcoins?

You don't know what a wire transfer is? Are you just being sarcastic or what? How do you fund your paypal account if you don't have a bank account/credit card? MtGox accept cash deposits to their USA bank if I'm not mistaken.

https://mtgox.com/users/addFunds

It's pretty easy to deposit some cash into MtGox's USA chase bank account. It's easy and fast. but you have to trust MtGox with your personal information as a verified MtGox account is required to do so, according to the site.

You could try to find someone trustworthy on these forums who would sell you bitcoins for cash in person, or by cash in the mail. That is probably the safest and most secure way to go about it.

yes I dont know what a wire transfer is, honestly dude. i hate to admit it but i've never needed to "do" a wire transfer. i get payment directly into paypal for my work and then move funds into my bank accounts.

i've been looking into Dwolla which lets you move cash into mtgox then trade it for btc... is this another option? I feel that moving cash into mtgox may be easier instead of relying on somebody else to do this for me? I just need to know a trustworthy site to try out, Dwolla seems to be one option.

What's the most "legit" way to convert USD to MTGox/Bitcoins?

I only have a PP account and store my money in a local credit union. I've heard a lot of talk about other ways to send money (wire transfer, western union, bank check??) but I have no clue about any of these things. wtf are these things lol??

I guess I'm just wondering what is the easiest, fastest, and most secure and trustworthy way for both parties in exchanging USD for bitcoins? I know I need to move away from paypal and I hate having to use it right now anyways. if I need to go open an account somewhere or signup for something I'd like to figure it out now so I can start moving money ahead of time.

please excuse my ignorance on the matter since i've barely had the need to interact with this overly-convoluted banking scheme. i'm willing to try anything since it's all probably better than paypal! but i'd like to hear your ideas on the matter and what most people are using today to convert USD into mtgox etc.

Re: Trying to Deposit MtGox Bit Coins into Another Account Elsewhere?

If you want to deposit bitcoins into mtgox, you send bitcoins to that deposit address. If you want to withdraw bitcoins you click withdraw funds in the left menu and write the destination address (the address where you want to send the coins to)

ohh okay I see it! yeah it was the strange verbage used on both sites but what I want to do is withdraw from mtgox into a diff account.

thanks brother   Cheesy

Trying to Deposit MtGox Bit Coins into Another Account Elsewhere?
by

on 22/10/2011, 15:18:22 UTC
I know this has obviously been asked before but I can't seem to find a topic online or here..

I have btc in my MtGox account and need to move them all elsewhere. I have the deposit address which is 1Aja3qmbNMDFSk2qH7irpk3WESrrt86XxA

But I can't find the actual "deposit" page on the MtGox website. Even when I'm logged in all I can find is moving money into bitcoins or turning my existing bitcoins into cash. Neither of which I want to do!

If anybody can help I'd truly appreciate the support. Still new to the system and I'm sure you remember it is frustrating to start Smiley

so question are you looking for people who have bit coins and want to sell them for paypal cash?

or are you looking for people willing to buy bitcoins thru paypal and then re-sell them? this thread has gotten a bit confusing, I'm just curious if you could explain

There is no way anyone can have an exchange and not know that paypal should not be mixed with bitcoin.

I say a horrible attempt at an exchange, scam or otherwise.

See my edited post, also, since the actual transactions occur between users, I doubt they would make much scamming anyone.

Also, I would consider this less of typical BTC-USD exchange, but more of an escrow service that considers Bitcoin as a/the currency and PPUSD as a commodity.

do you think it's a bit too much work just for obtaining bitcoins?

would it be easier finding somebody on here to exchange with?

Now that ExchB died - I am also looking for the same thing.  I can't deal with the 5 day lag on the trade sites.  If you have bitcoins to sell and want some cash instantly via paypal I will pay market rate or slightly higher for your trouble and I am 100% reliable no charge backs ever in my history of payments been on paypal years and years.

Please pm me.

Thanks

- Blackout

i'm at this point as well.. I pay all my bills through paypal and make a living doing web work. so i'm not on here to "play around" or scam anybody! I do have a lot in my pp account right now which I'm willing to transfer for bitcoins whenever.

if anybody is willing for quick cash I will provide payment instantly via paypal. looking for 10-30 bc right now... I'm even cool to wait a few days if you want to confirm the funds will transfer out of pp into your bank account before sending me the bitcoins. still new here, trying to build a solid rep

I have a good history on ebay and through payments via freelance work (web design, dev, mobile apps, etc.)

PM and i'll be happy to share more details and prove legitimacy

I found the site http://otcexchange.net/ in another thread, and it mentions easy transfer of PayPal funs into bitcoin. I'm wondering has anybody used them before with success/failure?

was mentioned before on another thread here but I can't remember the link... the poster said it was legit though

Re: So do I need to install special software to use bitcoins?
by

on 18/10/2011, 20:50:33 UTC
Hi generickid,

After you download and start your client(wallet) you will need to wait for the blockchain to download in order to see your transactions and transfer coins. This can take a very long time; even a day or two. You should get your client running as soon as possible and have it ready when you do need you use it.

Bitcoin transactions are almost instant and with an up to date blockchain you will see them immediately, you do have wait for them to confirm before they are added to your balance or before you can transfer them. Confirmations only take a few minutes.

You can always use the blockexplorer to view your transactions.

n.olmos

well so I don't need to use a client if my bitcoins are held elsewhere correct? such as stored in mtgox or transferred into mtgox I don't need a client on my computer, but it would be a  good idea?

I just dont  know any good software for osx but now i'm checking for Linux distros

it's a very good point you make. Do you know if the bitcoin transfer is instantly (or basically instant)?

or rather let's say I'm transferring 50bc from mtgox into a wallet I've got on my laptop. how long would this normally take? I'm looking into software for both windows and mac cause this seems like a good alternative

The bitcoin client lets you transfer funds to other users via the long address. And you can also receive funds from exchanges and store them in your wallet. And if you want to mine you'll need another program that connects with a "pool". You also need to create a user and worker at pool to mine with your mining program.

right this was a fantastic explanation thank you!

I'm talking about with online marketplaces. I already have an account with Mt.Gox and I'm thinking that's enough to move currency over

but I've been reading people have installed bitcoin software? I don't understand the purpose of this unless to mine for bc... also read about a "wallet" file which I thought may store the currency. just trying to get pointed towards the right direction thanks in advance!
