Wink

Also das günstigste, was ich sehe ist Spondoolies-Tech mit 2$/GH. Also 1500€/TH
Und dann noch Lieferung und Zoll. Und musst bis Oktober irgendwann warten, mindestens. Keine 20nm Technologie.

Aber Du hast schon Recht, es ist nicht billig gute Hardware zu bekommen.
Sie ist ein bisschen gebraucht, stimmt, seit Juli. Funktioniert aber.

Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking

Is it possible to peal of the yellow sticker from the VRMs ?
Is it safe the put aluminum or cooper heatsinks directly on the VRMs with only thermal paste (link) and not thermal adhesive pads (link) ? As VRMs convert electricity and heatsinks are electrical conductors.

Yes. I pealed the yellow sticker from the VRM, and put the heatsink on top.  See pictures in next posts....

is it even necessary to peal the yellow stickers off?

on neppy probably...on nov...not so much as they don't heat up as bad as neppys do

yes I meant neppy. But than I assume, warranty is gone...hm

Peeps....
I thought every miner knew....

You should only use SINGLE RAIL PSU'S
anything else you are wasting $ and taking huge risks imho

Multi-rail PSU's are SHIT,
I burnt out a couple last Generation before going to all Corsair single-rail
Even when the multi's "worked", they could not keep up with the rest
Even 5 year old-crappy used HP desktop PSU's were better. Just sayin'

Yeah.  Even when the multi-rails are powerful enough to run mining gear by spec,  I seem to have much more problems with multi-rail then single rail PSUs.  I'd go for a 1200 Corsair over a 1500 Enermax any day. And I'd go for a server PSU over both =)

Over on the KNC board there are several complaints that the Corsair AX1200i's are shutting down at startup presumably because of the protection mechanism built into the PSU.
Yeah, I needed to solder a second connector for each Neptune box. After that one AX1200i was able to power 3 boxes at 475 MHz through 6 PCI-e cables.

Soros would you post some pics please?

KnC said for batch 1 and batch 2 Neptune "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment".

My order status is still "paid". When I asked for refund, I got reply from Anna:
"As shipping has already started, we are no longer accepting requests for refunds."

Then I insist that my order status is "paid", not shipped, and the reply from Anna is:
"Sorry, no longer possible."

.................................................

Ouch. call them.

call them, and for what?

Just say "European consumer law" and they will shit their pants.

according to http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-11-675_en.htm

4) 14 Days to change your mind on a purchase
The period under which consumers can withdraw from a sales contract is extended to 14 calendar days (compared to seven days legally prescribed by EU law today). This means that consumers can return the goods for whatever reason if they change their minds.

Extra protection for lack of information: When a seller hasn’t clearly informed the customer about the withdrawal right, the return period will be extended to a year.

it seems that everyone now has a one-year return period? but how to claim it? Smiley

But we are not B2C, according to KnC it's B2B.
And there are other laws i think

Each Neptune Cube uses a high-quality PCI-E connection and draws approximately 300 watts at it’s port

300 x 5= 2100? Huh

Disappointed. It was my understanding that Plan B cloud hashing was to compensate for any delay in delivery.

When they announced the 2-for-1 second Neppy in August they gave the impression that it was in addition to, not a replacement of, Plan B. Seemed to me that they made the 2-for-1 offer to compete with Spond who were selling their August SP30 Group Buy at that time... to reduce the number of Neppy refunds.

I was pretty happy with Plan B, until now (apart from the fact that they promised it in "early June" for CA batch, and it won't start until 23 June). Now, why would I trade a few weeks (i.e. hopefully they ship soon) of cloud hashing for an entire Neptune im August?

Jeezes dudes, they are even worse than I thought.

Exactly!
I really don´t understand why they are doing this to us.
Don´t they want to have happy customers?

and tomorrow is holiday:
http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/sweden/

so, if I´m too late now to change back because they started shipping and tomorrow is holiday, then on monday my status Paid will be changed into shipping and so I won´t get a single day hashing and no second neppy.
Checkmated! Fuck!

thx..  also...  The mower's 0-Gh/s has a better btc return than any Miner I see right now...lol

meh, nothing in-stock worth looking at just now; and i just plain refuse to go down any alt-route.
hence just buying up more coins today - gotta put friday the 13th to some use huh?
Oh shizzle... Friday the 13th.....  Good thing it's tomorrow.... lol

***Weren't we told by KNC there would be news by today on the Cloud-hashing contracts?
("Later this week" in the news)
Looks like yet another broken promise.....  I wonder now if they actually WANT people to refund...?
and where the hell are the pics of our 20nm wafers when they taped out weeks ago?
Any cutting edge chip developer should have been proud to post the pics of something like that I'd think...?

I keep coming to the well for water, but finding it dry when I was promised the most refreshing water ever.
They left a note though... "We got the water! more news about the best water ever coming later this week".
and although I paid in advance for my best water ever, there are people walking by with water from 7-11 that was cheaper and delivered sooner. That's okay, because they've promised to give me double the water I paid for, even though I may die of dehydration(Difficulty) before they arrive and meanwhile the 7-11 guys are enjoying Big-Gulps hoping my well never has water in it, hovering like vultures, cursing my beloved water provider when I just know they are as pure as the driven snow.  Roll Eyes
and its now the last day of the week... no sign of moisture even.

lol  Grin

ya, hard to see the dark side is

Still, I´m hoping, although I´m very thursty now

BTW, anyone else notice how they put the component that reports the chip temperature at the very *edge* of the board

What is the manufacturer's part number on those chips Avenger ?

http://forumias.com/uploads/FileUpload/75/fe62df0a3cd236b9e41f49d700933a.jpg

you are also trolling Avenger. Be so kind and stop this shit, thanks

Talk to you guys soon when Neptune ships ON TIME and OVER SPEC to see what kind of CYA excuses you are making for yourselves.

I´m also still holding and hoping for my Neptunes, but there will be no reason to laugh at anybody. Just be happy when it finally arrives.
Everybody made his own choise, and everybody thinks/hopes that it was the best he could do. Now we will wait and see.

Maybe we could treat each other with a little more respect.
Like, hm there is another member of this same community, with a different point of view, ok, but still a member, no reason to spit on each other. Calm down guys.

I´m also waiting for my neppys.

Anybody else, or have you guys all refunded, Titaned or Frankened up?

Because they made all this shit from PRE-ORDER MONEY.

WE funded them with peorders. They were the nice guys with under promise over deliver, netwotk protection statement... and so and so.....

Now they fu.. our ass....

I couldn't say a word for example Bitmain do this, or Bitfury made his own mine... They never used customer funds to show something.

You wrote you ordered Neptunes, I think you got here at this stage. Check the beginning of this whole shit and you'll understand what is going on here.

Ps: And they on their way to make the largest mine on the world..... (maybe)

Still don´t get it.

Ok, maybe I´m just dump, but please be patient.
I´m reading this topic for a while and was wondering why some people are getting so angry.

I really don´t like the tone of some of you here, just because you are shitting bricks, you can talk normal.
Why are you guys getting so emotional?
You know you shouldn´t play with money you can not afford to lose.
Ok, it maybe sounds like a teacher. Just wanna let you know, I also ordered 3 Neptunes in November with a loan from my Bank.
Nobody forced me, it was my decision. So I can just blame my self.
I understand that KnC is behaving not very nice and customer friendly in some points. We all waiting for infos.
Clearly I would also be angry if I had to wait for weeks until I get my refund, or even an answer.
But until now, this didn´t happen to me with KnC.
Every time I wrote an email, I got an answer and had to wait at latest 2 days for it.
Maybe I´m just lucky?
I´d like to understand, why anybody changed his order to FrankenJup?
Ok, you´ll probably mining next week, but you´ll have 28nm and just 3 month warranty. Never ever would have done that.
Also wouldn´t change my order to Titans. It´s just scrypt, not scrypt-n and I think, we all are pretty sure, that it´ll come to late.

So either stay with Neptunes or refund.
So after all the speculations here, lets stay with the facts. And please correct me, if I´m wrong!

Until the Jupiters, KnC delivered as the one and only european company who builds asics as promised and way better.
Why would they saw off the branch they're sitting on?
They have a good name, they´ll surely try to keep it. They earned money, and yes of course, they want more.
Fine for me, as long as I get, what I paid for and I get it in time.

Who can prove, that this won´t happen? Q1 is over, I know, but they never promised it. Although we all wanted to believe it so desperately.

And please don´t compare AMD or NVIDIA 20nm problems with asics. It´s completely different.

Re: 290 vs 290x 2 card system on 1000w psu possible?

I have a noname 1200W PSU 80bronze and 3 290X (one with Powered Riser) and the System uses 1120W in total. The cards doing fine with 885kh/s at 60grad celsius.
When starting up the system uses 150W.

So I think it should work.
