Thanks for all the support, I am working hard on the background to improve things. As I also do respect all your opinions I decided the following for the next versions:

  • My intention is not to discourage you to change / play with the settings, so the dev mining will start after 5 minutes instead of 2 minutes. This will give you time to grab a coffee / check your settings / correct it if you see a lot of HW errors / do multiple settings at once after a restart before it starts mining on the dev pool.
  • The dev fee pools are shown again in the mining status overview (light grey colored) and also in the kernel log, so everybody can check / see what's going on. If you still have questions about it, please ask friendly in this topic.

Well done! Nice to see an honest person on the net .

Thanks

Just installed the 12/10 version. I was able to tweek my boards a bit better. I was able to get an extra G.

Out of my 2 machines I'm getting a total of 30.5G using under 1500w combined.

Chain#   ASIC#   Frequency   GH/S(RT)   HW   Temp(PCB)   Temp(Chip)   ASIC status
1   60   537   6583.55   6   53   73   oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo
2   60   537   6291.02   753   51   69   oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo
3    where is chani 3

in other mines show 3 Chain#

Try with lower frequency 537 is to much, don´t know why bitmain do it, but there are to much HW-Errors and the Miner get mostime to hot, too

When you run the Miner with 220-240V then try 506
with 120V try something around 450

can't help but throw this in again, doesn't matter if you are 240 or 120 it matters what your psu can do without strain. *IF* you are using an old server psu where at 220 it is producing 1200w and at 110 it is producing 900 w THAT will make a difference - but if you have a 1500w psu that can run on either, then 1500 is the max you are looking at.. the 220 vs 110 is only going to change the amps going *IN* to the psu (less heat on your cord or ability to use a smaller cord maybe less strain on the psu in the way of heat) but that will in no way affect what setting you can put on the miner itself, from the psu out 12v at whatever amps is going to be 12v at whatever amps.. doesn't matter AT ALL if it is 110 or 220 coming in. - thickness of the individual wires in the 6-pin makes a difference, the amps your psu can handle on it's 12v rail makes a difference.. but the miner doesn't care at all. not even the tiniest bit- if you have issues at 120v with 537 then either you have a miner with issues (plenty of them out there) or you need a better psu.

When i wrote it, i have the orig. Bitmain PSU in mind, and this is to small on 120V with frequency 537

I have strange problem
after 4 hours it gives me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx again
so do I need to decrease the frequency as i have 537 with 220 v
please anyone help

The problem is these boards are extemely finiky. Unfortuately Ihave to run one at 300. No other setting whether i Increse voltage or not works. The good news is my 2 machines  sre getting a total of 30GH is only sucking on 1500W

Hey Blissz,

What fan speeds are you showing for Low(quiet)

Both machines are 1700-2700.  Is there a reason they arent same speed?

Thanks

Blissz,

Class move fixing the bricked L3. I saw you stated it was your software that did it so you felt it was your duty to fix it. To be honest tit truely wasnt your fault. This should show Anyone who has a problem with the dev fee, he is an honest person.

On a sepperate note.

I just got back a board from Bitmain warranty(california) seems to be working fine. The  process took about 2 business weeks. Not great but the communication was great with Bitmain and their ticket process is pretty good.

Also this firmware has allowed me to run both machines at a combined 1550 watts. And it could be better, but some boards require more volts than others.

Thanks. Electricity cost is around $0.04/kWh plus a fixed hosting fee per unit. So I'm best off getting as much hashrate as I can from the units without killing them in <2 years. I've been tweaking my test units the past few hours and feel like I understand the options better. Relieved that I can continue updating as FW improves.

FWIW, I was not at all confused about the dev fee and feel that 1.5% is reasonable if I get at least 5% net improvement. I hope you'll be well paid for your continued FW development. I'm not really expecting much from Bitmain in terms of advancing the FW. One question on the Dev fee, though: I understand that you choose your own pools, but do you alter the unit's other parameters during the Dev fee time? If I have my settings just so, does the dev fee period ramp them up, or just leave them as I've set them.

Thanks.

To change things like frequency or volts would require a reboot.

we should really start an independant thread about mining other algo's has nothing to do with this thread about a very specific topic of D3 firmware enhancements.

no one is making you use it.

Go do it yourself  and then give your time and expertise away for free to the community. I support you in this.

Marty ,

Breath.

He has been totally upfront and transparent about it, if you read the thread.

He is taking 1.5% of your time per hour.

It's for his coding time.

Totally fair and reasonable.

v1.1 :: 02/12 :: recommended update

Download:
https://mega.nz/#!nthHEQ5R!EwtiWy94w683ohv9CjI8_9xU3JQ0AvJ_rd49G8dguEo

Changes 02/12:
- improved temperature sensor reading stability of all chains
- improved board / chain detection
- fixed an issue where the miner could hang mining the dev fee if your first pool is down
- improved awesome miner compatibility (special thanks to @funminer for beta testing)

happy mining!

thanks for the continued work!

I know threads can get long and posts can get lost. So I just wanted to state again. It would be really nice if the fan speed was on the same page as the advance settings. That way it only takes one reboot when switching from silent/performance settings.

For the people loosing a chain.

Try running just that chain by itself.  Unplug the other chains from power and the control board.

If it works at default settings then its most likely a power issue.

If it doesn't work by itself you should warranty it. I have one board at bitmain now. So far the process has been very good and their support has be pretty quick to respond.

The "chain" is one of the boards. They are made up of 64? chips. they are represented by an 0 on the miner status page. If you have and x there instead of an 0 you might have a problem or you might just have to make some power setting adjusments.

D3 have 3 boards (chains).

At my power saving set up I use the quiet fan setting and my performance setup i use default fan setting (its loud)

Also I can get 16.1 at like 780w or so, but I cant stay about 16 and get down to 750w.

Its very dependant on each day, as these boards are not consistant. So some days on my power saving mode I can run at 1v but some days I have to run 2. And I have one board that needs 6.

I pretty much run my machines clocked down to save power.
16,400 @ 800W  1-2v

Today I  thought I would fiddle around a bit.

Running at 19,300 @1100w 13v(bitmain stock)

So its an increase of 18% in speed and  37.5% increase in power consumption.  Its not worth it!.

Power mode Im at 500-525. Some boards will run 550 but I start creaping to 1250w. I have run it stable at 21GH but its not worth it.

in quiet mode I really have to fiddle with the settings but its mostly around 450. one board wont run low volts unless i put it down to 400.

Any chance we can get the fan setting on the advance setting page?

THat way you only have to reboot once when  switching from performance/quiet setting.

Thanks

"Lowest" voltage is value 1, right? I tried lowest voltage and 412mhz clock and works. Can lowest value can work with higher clock, for example 450mhz?
Why blissz wrote lowest voltage on 400mhs, when clock can bi higher?

Its just a recomended starting point if you want to run silent and low watts.

You can move it where ever you want. These boards are so different that you can't say this one setting is for everyone.

These boards are very finiky. Each day (i have to shut down at night) I spend and hour setting them up. Zero consistancy.

A great feature that would be really helpful is different power profiles. So you can run quiet when your home or let it rip while you're away with just one click as apposed to having to change each board individually.

Would make it easy so you didn't have to remember the settings for each board in each machine.

***************Well it lasted an hour and then the same board crapped out.****************
It ran the entire time without an error. Just hit the refresh button and 60+ in last few minutes and board that one board stopped

Ok so I don't know if its juat another day or the new firmware.

I put the bad board back in after the new update. I now have Machine 1 up and running for about 20 minutes and no HW on the "bad" board.

I'm running at 15.3

The bad board is clocked down to 350 and I have to use 10v. But at least its providng 4000+.

Not sure I feel safe leaving it unattended. Not because it will burn out but when the board fails it still sends power to the board and its just a waste.

Blissz can you shed some light? these boards do seem to be tempermental day to day.

Flashed new firmware this morning.

Machine 1 running 2 boards went from 10.7 to 11.3. Watts didn't change.

Machinen 2 running all three boards went from 16 to 16.8. Havent tested the watts yet.

Well after running for 10.5 hours today I lost a board on my "good" machine. (machine 2 if you reference other posts) I'm running 11/23 and that is the longest ive had it running.

I had it at lowest volt,  456. Fan default.

Just giving a data point. i will flash the new firmware tomorrow and see how it goes.

Good luck everyone.

I should also add that it was board "3" same as machine one that eventually crapped out.. I'm not saying this board is dead like my other one, but I find it interesting that it was board 3 on both.
