You should check out steemit/hive bythe way, you can make blog posts on there and people upvote you. Upvotes earn a share of the cryptocurrency. Good way to get some cash flowing in. It won't be much but at least you can do something and it's on a decentralized blockchain which helps contribute to building decentralized tech stuff

Re: storing BTC at exchange wallet long term
by
iluvpie60
on 07/02/2021, 04:50:32 UTC
Everywhere I read tells me it is not a good idea to leave BTC long term at an exchange wallet.  However, the same people who say that recommend crypto interest earning accounts such as BlockFi or Celsious.  Doesn't make sense to me.  So I should not trust Coinbase or Gemini yet I can trust BlockFi or Celsius to keep my crypto safe?  What?Huh

From all the hacks on exchanges that have happened over the years you should not keep more than you are willing to lose. If you are looking to trade a few thousand USD worth of stuff and leave it on an account that's probably pretty safe. Risking 10k+ because you want to earn interest is not something you would want to do unless you don't care about losing it.

Famous hacks were

MTGOX, BTCE, Cryptopia, many various others over the years. If the exchange exists it will probably be hacked at some point. MTGOX people barely got anything back.

Some of the best methods of storing your crypto are using the hardware wallets. If you are truly wanting to do stuff with interest earning that is all on Ethereum, some of their things like SushiSwap can earn you over 100% APR a year. I haven't looked into what kind of interest you can earn from BTC, have you seen something that is comparable? Might be possible to lock BTC in WBTC on Ethereum and stake with that, that way you always control your wallet.

Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins?
by
iluvpie60
on 04/12/2017, 02:45:00 UTC
I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?

There are some great alts like ETH and Steem I think will do really wel.

ETH has a cool new kitty game out I see people talking about. Steemit is a great decentralized blogging space where you can make money and earn Steem tokens.

For sure invest some in both of those long term, as they are still quite low on price for what they should be worth years from now.

I would never buy drugs period, because I don't do any drugs and really don't drink alcohol either.

That being said, watch out buying thing on the block chain that is public. There is a tool called blockchainanalysis that the governments are using to find people who do stuff like this. be warned!

Re: Will the price of bitcoin increase forever?
by
iluvpie60
on 03/12/2017, 23:46:57 UTC
Since the total number of bitcoin is fixed, so the value of bitcoin will keep grow, and it's price will keep grow also. So will there a price cap for bitcoin?
Yes Op, I believe that as the demand will keep on increasing day after day so shall the market value of Bitcoin keep on increasing. But remember that Bitcoin market value Will get to height where its value will remain stable and then , other altcoins will start getting more acceptance world over and that will create a strong competition among them.

We still haven't seen even 1% of the world using BTC yet. Once that happens the market cap will have to be really high. If we get to 10% of the entire world has or uses bitcoin the price will have to be worth millions each.

It will be the single biggest event in the world(cyrptocurrency) that turns people into millionaires.

Re: Bitcoin in College???

Bitcoin as a course or any related currency on web.
In my country we have multiple courses in computer especially programing and web developments. My course is also information technology, but i've never heard or learn about online currency as bitcoin. In present, and future studies is there any chances for inserting about it in education. In your country is it available?
It would be better for any country to adopt bitcoin in educating new generations. Instead of playing games and wasting money in surfing xxx sites.
Bitcoin has not even been legalized still in our country.I heard that just now, colleges in some european countries have started to add bitcoin as a subject in their studies. Its a new technology which has created a revolution in the world economy. We may expect soon bitcoin to be added as an important lesson in universities all over the world.

That is interesting that the technology isn't legalized in your country, but they are going to start teaching about it!

That is good though that people will start to learn about it in school but it should be legalized. Government always stifles creation and they are just getting in the way once again for no good reason, other than to retain their power.

Absolutely not!  I'm always adding BTC.  I thought I was too late when I started in May when it was $2k.

How much BTC are you buying on a regular basis?

I totally agree that had I been buying some every week(instead of putting into 401K) I would have been a lot better off.

Oh well.

Right now there is a good price increase happening and I hope it continues. I think there will be another dip soon and I am prepared for that. Maybe next week! Hopefully. I think doing 100USd a week is a good starting point for me.

Re: Where to Invest BTC?
by
iluvpie60
on 02/12/2017, 23:43:02 UTC
Maybe try investing in a on line casino bank roll. The home edge me youalways earn and it's very rare that you generate losses. I have opportunities both in just-chop and cans video games and they seem to pay out a great return in your initial investment. Make sure to distribute the investments more than several websites.yt-orp
That is too much risky, if you do not have good knowledge about the casino they can take away your money. I think you need to hold your bitcoin and do not invest it anywhere. By holding bitcoin as its price is increasing therefore it will give you good profit.

Holding will give you good profits in long term but it will never give you regular profits which is possible by investing it anywhere and no doubt investing in any casino site is very risky as you never know what will be the final outcome of your investments so the best thing would be to invest your bitcoin in trading and start trading altcoins which will generate regular profits for you and your knowledge and your actions will decide your profit margin.

Right, regular profits coming from trading day to day. You will not get the chance to buy on the dip and sell on an all time high if you are only ever holding.

Holding also can be bad for any coin, because in years from now new coins could be dominant. There is nothing that says bitcoin always will be worth more. Nobody thought Dash would be worth about 800(double ETH almost) and nobody thought XMR and ZEC would go to be hundreds each, while LTC still isn't going much higher than 100.

Re: interest in bitcoin is increasing
by
iluvpie60
on 02/12/2017, 23:39:30 UTC
An example for the increasing interest on bitcoin is experienced over India. When the bitcoin was selling around $11000, around the globe India has got an value more than $13000. This is all because of the increasing interest of people to prioritize it an investment source.
I do not think it is only about the demand, it has to do with the fact that their government began a war on cash just a few months ago and people are looking for a way to protect from that, this huge demand happens in every place in which governments are having problems with their economies.

I think the stock market being at an all time high is playing a major factor into this. I really worry when I see it so high that it is going to cause a huge crash and normal people like myself will lose a lot in our 401k/stock for retirement.

I think the 401k and retirement IRA stocks are all a scam that cannot possibly maintain. The market will crash for Fiat, and lots of money is flooding into crypto so people can save themselves.

Re: Criminality and Bitcoin

https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.

I don't tend to believe things like this because they usually cannot track the fiat trading of drugs/illegal stuff happening. The only reason they would be able to track the bitcoin stuff is because it can be traced backwards to other wallets/sources. The fiat can't really be(unless the serial numbers on the fiat was from a nearby bank or something).

It is a lot easier and more profitable to target older people by calling them and having them wire money to you through a scam, much easier than hacking stuff and coding viruses.

Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children.
by
iluvpie60
on 02/12/2017, 23:26:36 UTC
Like every other investment such as real estate, stocks and other forms of investment we know that you can invest in that kind of things and then you get something like say a Certificate or a Binding Document as a proof that you are part of that investment, now that of bitcoin all you have is just your address, your password, key and seeds as proof of the ownership of the wallet.

BTC

So now if one is considering buying bitcoins and saving for his/her children in the future is there any way to do that with bitcoins apart from having to write down your details somewhere. I'm asking because with that kind of stuff if no one knows your seeds or password no one can get the coins. Huh Huh Huh

If you are leaving it to your children in the form of some kind of Will, you would be able to have it put into a secret filing with an attorney who helps you write your will. Then you can store the private keys in a bank deposit box on a few usb drives and or cds/dvds. I don't think it costs too much money to store stuff in a small deposit box. They will keep it safe from fire, and will insure it too.

Re: Are you surprise by bitcoin price now?
by
iluvpie60
on 02/12/2017, 23:24:57 UTC
With my last estimation,  I thought that bitcoin had the potential to reach $10000 before the year ends but with this week alone it almost broke into the $12000 and receded back to $9000 and now the current price is around the $11000 range. I believe that it has the ability to go past $12000 again.

I fully expect it to hit at least 15,000 before the year is over.

The amount of Tethers being created is increasing a lot and I think that has a direct correlation to pumping up all crypto prices(not just btc, I mean everything).

Looks like more were made today and the price will likely go up once they get to the exchanges. The exchanges let people margin trade at BitFinex at a 3.3 to 1 ratio, so they can loan out 1 BTC to people who try to invest with it and it is 3.3 BTC basically, if it goes up they make tons of profits. If it goes down they lose a lot fast.
