Re: Does Bitcoin stable ?
by

Bitcoin will always remain volatile no matter what happens in future. The short uptrend upto $19k is kind of a bubble which kinda popped before Christmas to weed out the greedy and weak traders.

But since then, the price reached to a moderately stable form at around $13500 with +-20% variance. So you can't really define stability in that sense.
Now if you segregate price segments into several periods of dominance, you can call it moderately stable though.

wait for many btc fork price will increase again
Not all fork will make bitcoin price increase i think but majority maybe.

This. Don't think numerous forks are the prime reason for the price hike.

You are asking if something you found in a "random" pastebin is true? You do realize that literally anyone can post literally anything with zero filters or verification?

Yes, that is why I mentioned below to take that with a grain of salt.
Although that "random" someone mentioned that they are going to provide proofs in coming times, which is why I'm gonna keep a close watch in it.

Is this some kind of FUD or true?
by
jamesl22

Last night I casually checked in pastebin and stumbled upon this paste which reads as follows:

Code:
Traders, certain information has come to my attention that is causing me grave concerns and i feel it is my duty to warn each and every one of you.

We all know the scaling drama has caused a huge rift, resulting in bitcoin forking into the soon to be "Bitcoin Cash".

I know many have large holdings and savings in bitcoin, and are 'hodlers' and will never sell, so when the selling starts, you may lose everything if you don't also sell.

Gentlemen, this is certaintly not going to be gentlemen.

Certain information has come to light from back room channels, sources i cannot disclose ~ even writing this post will probably reveal my source - but i feel by gods will, I must warn you all.

Selling is coming. Selling the likes of which hasn't been seen since MtGox era.

Already as i type this, battleships of bitcoin are being shorted on all major exchanges.

Gentlemen, The enemy, the big blockers, have colluded and joined forces. The chinese, Jihan & co have put together a plan to replace bitcoin with bitcoin cash.

The plan goes like this:

Chinese miners (f2pool, antpool etc etc) have organised with major exchanges (via/huobi/okcoin etc) to support and launch bitcoin cash.

Initially they will let everyone who wants to sell, sell.

Once the coin has bottomed out, and everyone who wanted to sell has sold, they [chinese miners/jihad/chinese exchanges] will begin accumulating lots and lots of bitcoin cash.

They will then begin to pump the price  to around 0.1 BCC/BTC - 10%

The big pools won't mine it ~ they will let the smaller pools see the returns from mining this expensive, but low difficulty coin and start mining it.

Later, the larger pools will join, and as we know, jihad has ALOT of hashing power, their plan is for bitcoin cash to have more hashing power than bitcoin ~ and lets be honest, once t he chinese move over, that is pretty much it.

Around this time, the 'hard fork' section of segwit 2x is not going to happen ~ it never was - Bitcoin cash will then be seen as the original NYA coin..

At that point in time, Bitcoin cash will be on all major chinese exchanges, possibly some western exchanges aswell, and have majority hashing power. Western companies & other merchant providers (BitPay - @Spair) etc - paid off by bitmain etc will go along with the new bitcoin cash narrative and will push for the 'bitcoin cash' to be called 'bitcoin' on all their platforms, leaving only coinbase et all which will then be the odd ones out..

Now comes the scary part, The old bitcoin, the bitcoin we know and love, is going to get DESTROYED.

What determines a coins success ? It's market cap.

Big old school blockers and miners are going to dump bitcoin back to the bottom, they will take literally billions and billions of dollars out of bitcoin. They will use the money to fund the marketing, and development, or 'bitcoin cash' - Think, Bitcoin core - FIRED.  Think - forbes article, "why bitcoin miners and companies are moving to bitcoin cash" - think - "Why the market is chosing bitcoin cash as bitcoin not bitcoin core"  - They wil lsay the market has spoken, that people have voted with their money.

Right now, massive huge shorts are being built, already on finex, shorts are at 32k - not seen since $200 these kinds of numbers of shorts, and its climbing, all the t ime, consistently, they have ALOT of coins to short.

The most painful kind of selling, is where it never bounces and if you remember MtGox from $1000 to $70, you'll remember what no bounces feels like ~ and I can tell you. This won't be any better.

Good luck all, remember - fair warning.

Below is I grabbed, i also have some slack and telegram logs, I will sort them out later when i get back, i just want to confirm what I can safely disclose first for my own protection.

Email from [alice] to [bob] - http://imgur.com/a/FcZIp

Whether it is some kind of market manipulation or a FUD, and although we should grasp it with a grain of salt, it is quite concerning to note such radical divide amongst fellow Bitcoiners.
Bitcoin core developers should really come up with Lightning Network and a solution to the overall scaling sooner, before it's too late!

Here's the live countdown of the happening of SegWit2X fork: https://coinsalad.com/2x/countdown
If you want to check how SegWit2X is doing in real time, go to this website: https://coin.dance/blocks

The date I received that this would happen already passed.

No it hasn't yet, refer to the countdown link.
I think you are confusing between Bitcoin Gold fork with SegWit2X fork. Both are different.

Re: Question about selling during the upcoming fork
by

on 07/11/2017, 20:48:59 UTC
Panic selling won't be beneficial in any sense at all. Although you have that option to sell all before the fork and buy back after the dust settles, even then there are certain compromises you'll have to make;

  • Inability to claim airdropped coins.
  • Inability to hold both the coins and decide which side you will go with in future.

The viable practice in this situation would be to hold and watch how everything plays out over time...

With your previous count of notoriety how can anyone trust you with 1BTC?
Also the site isn't developed yet along with no database of previous hashes of winners. I would surely stay away until there are enough evidences of smooth experience, which can be conducted through giveaways.

I request everyone to read this before downloading an unknown chrome extension-
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/23sjle/chrome_extension_just_stole_my_btc  (This is about one type of malicious chrome extension that stole BTC)

If you love our account and not want to get screwed, beware of such services. I know OP already mentioned that the chrome extension is hosted on GitHub but dont just swayed by that information. Because OP already knows more than 5% members here doesn't know any coding and by seeing something hosted on GitHub will give a firm implication that the extension is 100% safe.

That's my warning for you guys. Now its your choice.

Re: Sell Bitcoin domains
by

on 23/07/2016, 16:17:23 UTC
I have some questions:

when was the domain registered?
when will they get expired?
and in which domain provider service they are?
and what is your asking price for them?

Some of the questions you asked can be easily extracted from their WHOIS lookup. Here you go:

1. https://www.namecheap.com/domains/whois/results.aspx?domain=bitcoin-exchange.online
2. https://www.namecheap.com/domains/whois/results.aspx?domain=bitcoin-casino.site

OP should whereas mention the starting bid and the following bid increments if he is looking forward to auction them simultaneously.

Re: 1 oz Silver 0.5 BTC Lealana Bitcoin Funded MS-69
by
jamesl22
on 23/07/2016, 16:10:03 UTC
It was funded by the buyer not Smoothie. Older ones were sold pre-funded by Smoothie. There are 3 types of Lealana

1- Original series that were all funded via Smoothie
2- Coins not marked buyer funded - they were funded via the buyer before shipping
3- "Buyer Funded" they shipped not funded and get marked as such

Smoothie stopped selling them funded shortly after Mike got his letter from the USG.

So who generated the address: 1BTCcF9UjF3aAVwtGsUTDnDMGnEC9sp51f ?
Smoothie right?

I don't have any problem with buyer funding as long as Smoothie generated the private key.

Thank you for the link. Yes I know funded but I wanted to make sure.
Today morning I saw one thread where the bitcoins went missing for a funding coin. Probably this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559773.0

Anyways. I planned to bid on this one. So my bid is: 0.54BTC

Concept is cool. But I want to try it out ASAP.
Are you hiring beta testers for testing them out and reporting any bugs/loopholes if found? Let me know because I am highly interested in it.

Btw, on a scale of 1 to 10, how secure is this going to be compared to the well known traditional paper wallets?

Re: Do bitcoin accepted in your country?

on 23/07/2016, 12:17:33 UTC
You can get to know the legitimacy of Bitcoin for each country by following this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country

According to Philippines: "On 6 March 2014, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued a statement on risks associated with bitcoin trading and usage. Bitcoin exchanges are not regulated by BSP at the moment."

There are also 7 merchants who accepts Bitcoin in Philippines: https://www.techinasia.com/bitcoins-spend-7-merchants-accepting-bitcoins-philippines

Lastly, you can visit your local board here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=219.0
in case you have any further queries.

These are some of the complicated scenarios where Bithra, Escrowmybits or any other online escrow services doesn't help much rather than keeping it on their escrow address nearly a year before having it fully under their custody.

That's why a human mediated escrow service is two times better since they will be able to come to a conclusion based on the number of proofs presented by a party and his own intellectual judgement.

Next time don't make any mistakes in choosing an escrow service.

Re: Blockchain.info Questions from a noob - Help!
by

Blockchain.info's wallet can be accessed via tor by their following onion address mentioned here: https://blockchain.info/wallet/anonymity
But this is generally not a good idea since you will be dealing with your own money and an exit node can easily intercept your username/wallet identifier.

According to the anonymity, you can use Bitmixer.io if you want our coins to be untraceable from a particular address. The more frequently you mix the coins, more difficult it becomes to trace it.

Yes the newer version is much more intuitive and better with respect to the legacy version.
Although there is one drawback with the recent changes in their wallet creation. That makes you unable to extract passphrase of an address in the normal format. Otherwise everything is okay according to me.
