Looks good so far. I noticed two things that could be improved:

  • None of the donations addresses are clickable
  • The "Who Controls Bitcoin" section makes Gavin sound like a person with direct control over the network, when at the present time there are now two independent full implementations of the Bitcoin protocol besides the reference implementation.

Good advice. Donation addresses are now clickable.

I'm working on amended wording for the Gavin bit...

The first wallet you recommend is a referral link.

If all of the wallets offered referral programs, they would all have referral links. We chose the order of the services based on ease of use without taking referral programs into account.

After a few weeks of work, we are proud to announce the launch of our new Bitcoin guide, Bitcoin simplified.

We set out to create a guide that would be great for your friends and family who might be less technically inclined. We have a lot more work to do, but we would love your input going forward.

Our long-term goal is to create a resource with the navigability of a wiki, but with high-quality, carefully curated content. Let us know what you think!

Good news, friends! I found a way to do instant payment verification with the Blockchain JSON-RPC API!

Other features (added a countdown timer) and bugfixes are also in the latest version.

Check out https://github.com/btcgear/OpenCart_Bitcoin for the latest code and, as always, let me know if you have any issues by sending an email to support@btcgear.com.

Any chance of getting prescription Gunnar lenses ? I remember asking this last year, but got a no. Sad

GUNNAR does sell prescription glasses, but they don't distribute them through us. They're also way more expensive. You can check out their prescription offerings at http://shop.gunnars.com/prescription-eyewear.html.

Hey, we're about to put in a new order of GUNNAR Optiks computer glasses and gaming glasses. Anyone who orders from http://www.btcgear.com before our order goes in this Friday will get 25% off with coupon code GUNNAR4BTC. We ship internationally and are proud of our excellent customer satisfaction track record.

GUNNAR Optiks are a brand of glasses that were designed for people who spend long hours staring at digital screens. Headaches and trouble focusing are among the eye strain symptoms that can be lessened and relieved by these glasses. Click here for more information about GUNNAR Optiks.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I bought my first pair of GUNNARS when I started experiencing eye strain issues that greatly affected my productivity at work. The glasses reversed the symptoms I had been experiencing within a day or two and I've now been symptom free for over a year.

When we approached GUNNAR about selling their glasses for Bitcoin they agreed with us that the group of technological early adopters who are into Bitcoin should overlap nicely with they type of digitally-centered people for whom they develop their products. We are still trying to prove that the Bitcoin market is worth going after.

I highly recommend these glasses to anyone who experiences eye strain symptoms and works in front of digital screens. Most gamers out there know about how useful these glasses can be, but it surprises me how few office dwellers have heard of them. If you have any questions about the glasses or anything else, contact us at info <> btcgear <> com or just PM me.

Well, friends, I have some bad news. It appears the Blockchain.info JSON-RPC API can not play nice with my payment module in its current incarnation. The payment module relies upon immediate acknowledgement of a transaction (0 confirmations) in order to function properly. There is a delay between sending payment to a Blockchain.info MyWallet address and Blockchain's acknowledgement of the transaction. It appears to wait until 1 confirmation. This means that it is impossible to do a slick immediate recognition of payment (as my payment module is programmed to do) with the Blockchain.info API at the present.

I could write an extension that would accept any order regardless of whether payment was ever sent, OR I could write an extension that would instruct the user to wait 10 or 15 minutes to see if their order went through. Both sound like a rather silly way of doing business, but unfortunately that's all that would be possible with the Blockchain.info JSON-RPC API (until they improve it).

Well, I finally figured out why it wasn't working with the Blockchain.info JSON-RPC API. It appears the JSON-RPC API returns Bitcoin values rounded to three decimal points (!) So... the smaller orders I was testing with returned 0.000 received when they should have returned 0.0001... There was some other weird behavior with the blockchain API so I need to test more thoroughly before I push out a fix.

I also have some other features (including a timer and a bit cleaner interface) and bugfixes that I'm hoping to roll out in the next day or two.

I'm dying for a module like this because if the strong fluctuations.. it only works if the standard valuta is USD - but mine has to be EUR.. I recon it's not too difficult to fork this module for the european market? I emailed the guy, and I just hope someone can explain me how to do it sooner rather then later Wink

Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you when you emailed about EUR support. I integrated it and then couldn't remember what e-mail address you contacted me through or if it had been a forum PM or whatever so I couldn't let you know I had gotten it working.

As for everyone else, if you're still having issues with my extension, email me at support@btcgear.com and I'll see what I can do. I can make a test site and/or test bitcoind server available to one user at a time which can make troubleshooting much easier.

Why don't you do the logo in your avatar with the gears? I didn't see that option. Personally, I like that one better than any of your current options.

Smiley

Interesting. We do like our logo (and will put it on the back of our new hats, just like our old ones), but we were thinking the community at large would be more interested in a more generic hat design.

Please vote!

Hey folks, we're getting ready to make another batch or two of Bitcoin hats and we're looking for community input. Our first Bitcoin hat is black with the classic orange tilted Bitcoin logo. What color, what logo, etc. would you like to see in our next offering? Let us know by voting on the polls here.

Any other input or suggestions you might have would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help!

is there extra cost for shipping to UK?

Yes. Shipping to most parts of the UK is around $13 or $14 (about half a bitcoin).

Shipping in the United States is under $4.

Last day of sale!

EDIT : I figured out a way to add to cart

Click this link instead
http://www.btcgear.com/bitcoin-hat-black

It seems to work then.  Any coders understand why that happened?

Hey, thanks man! I forgot that OpenCart can be very www sensitive sometimes (but only in specific situations). I've fixed the links above.

I usually give out discounts for this kind of detective work, and even though we're already at our bottom dollar on this sale, you'll find a 15% off code in your inbox. Thanks for your help!

Well, that is unfortunate. I've tried it now in Firefox and IE and it works first time and every time for me.

Backup plan: For you and anyone else who has trouble with the website, I can process the order manually via PM.

Cool, I was thinking about buying one of those. The "add to cart" button doesn't work, though.

Yeah... it makes you choose a size first. We should set up a more obvious.
