Your loss is their gain.

Just like FIAT's loss is BTC's gain, BTC's loss is Altcoins' gain.

The difference is, you cannot rename USD or gold into something else.
I'm not sure how that fits with the fact that one could very well support multiple coins for their different features, for example Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash and Monero and gold and ...

Part of the genius of Bitcoin is that it turns greed and selfishness toward the common good:  If you have Bitcoin, you want to protect your savings, so you must stand against people who try to devalue it.  Otherwise, you risk losing your savings.

Everybody who has Bitcoin, has an incentive to protect Bitcoin.  If you have Bitcoin, then you are making the world a better place when you defend the value of your own money.  You can’t avoid protecting Bitcoin, if you want to protect your own money.  And if you have Bitcoin, then an attack against Bitcoin is not only an attack against some idealistic theory:  It’s a financial attack on you, personally!  Of course, you should be angry about that.
Why would anyone attack ("try to devalue") other coins in the first place? Isn't it possible for all coins to co-exist peacefully?

Any tokens left on other exchanges except CCS will have no value after August 15.
The free market will have the last word here. In my case I value more the freely tradeable ERC20 token than the highly manipulated TwnklChain token.

Electrum Balance Widget for Android
by

Is there any widget for Android that shows you the total balance of your Electrum wallet? I've seen a couple of widgets that allow you to monitor the balance of a given address or set of addresses, but I would simply want to input my master public key instead of the individual addresses. I know the official Android app allows you to see this balance, but I want to see it at all times in the wallpaper.

If you copy the current bitcoind (Linux) blockchain and use it with the BCC bitcoind, will it automatically go back and resync all the blocks starting at the fork?
No, it will remain stuck in the latest BTC block. You will have to reindex the blockchain, which is more or less the same as downloading it from scratch.

I just convert it to QR code using some open source QR code generator and of course,  I've run it offline and save it as a PDF file then encrypt it with a strong password, then upload it on some trusted app online, I will not store it on a paper since there are possibilities that this paper will lose including some important files when something happens like a typhoon or some disaster (just in case) since I'm living here in a tropical region/country so I just uploaded it online and I feel it's safe there.

If you put it in the internet it is not safe. You input it in a USB still not safe even if encrypted one.
I think the key point is to make sure the seed is (and has always been) offline (e.g. piece of paper, offline drive, ...)
Why do you think an offline USB drive is not safe?

I just got two copies that have been written in a paper. One is in my storage of important things and one is being held by my wife which I dont know where she keep it.
If the seed is in plain text I wouldn't be very comfortable with that setup...

The hardware wallet has to be connected to the computer... and the seed has to be displayed/output on the computer so you can write it down doesn't it?
The hardware wallet could have a display that shows you the seed.

If you can't secure a piece of paper with a few words on it, you need to possibly reconsider this hobby.
Can you elaborate on this?

You could back it up onto a few USB drives in an encrypted container perhaps as an alternative.
The problem with encrypted containers is that you can always forget or lose the encryption key(s).

I was wondering how you guys back up your seed. I'm not comfortable with having the full seed lying around somewhere.

Sold
by
john_doe
on 18/06/2017, 21:39:17 UTC
I sold about 10% of my stash. I'm not sure whether the bubble has burst or not, but I decided I'll take some profit (bought at sub $100). We might see $5000 or $10000 in the next few days, but I'm pretty sure the price will go down to $1500 (or even lower) at some point in the next few months or next year, and that's when I'll buy more. If that doesn't happen then it's fine, I'll invest in something else.

What do you think of my decision?

Re: ★ ZEIT ★ [COMMUNITY & KNIGHTS] [FULLY PoST | 5%]

Zeitcoin wallets allow you to earn interest and transaction fees, the PoW wallets do not.
Zeitcoin Proof of Stake wallets keep the network running , as the ASICS keep the PoW network running ,
except zeitcoin is energy efficient /sustainable and PoW is energy wasteful / unsustainable.
Does this happen even the wallet is locket? I'm getting high CPU usage even with a locked wallet.

Decreasing the # of blocks decreases the CPU to the lower % range.
What do you mean by "Decreasing the # of blocks"? How do I do that?

Thanks for your help!

I have a question. My Zeitcoin wallet (v2.0.1.7 on Ubuntu) is consuming a lot of CPU (fluctuates between 50% and 100%) without staking (it is locked). I have tried other coins and they consume much less. For instance, Bitcoin consumes 1-2% and Ethereum 5-15%. Can this be a problem with my configuration?

Thanks!
