Re: The Swap Scam

One common practice that makes my blood boil is the "swap scam" as it pertains to token swaps.

Basically, any token that doesn't have a perpetual window to swap is acting unethically and criminally.  Because inevitably there will always be people who lose their investment because they failed to swap their token within the given time frame.  I don't know how anyone can rationalize that this is not theft.  Anyone who believes otherwise is unethical or very stupid.   And if this industry were regulated, these people (the swap scammers) would be in jail.

As someone who is not particularly deft in the law I am asking for advice:

What can be done if anything through legal avenues for people to get their stolen money back?

There are many reasons why they are doing swap it could be that they are transferring to a new chain, or they are changing the contract, that is why you should always follow the update and do not leave their group channel in case there is an announcement of swap, more so if you are holding a big amount of token that is about to swap, the developer should be considerate in accepting late swap.

Many ethical teams have perpetual swap windows, it isn't that difficult.  People will use irrational excuses to justify stealing money from others.  In the least there should be one week a year in which swap windows are re-opened.

These people steal because they can get away with it.  Scumbags with no integrity that should be in jail.

In the least, for a few days every year, they should re-open the swap window.  But many ethical tokens have perpetual swaps.  It isn't that difficult.  People are simply stealing because they can get away with it.  They have no integrity and are scumbags.

The Swap Scam

In the crypto industry, there is a very large elephant in the room.
This industry is filled to the brim with unethical, no integrity scumbags.  They may talk nice, may have great credentials, but nevertheless, they are utter pieces of garbage.

Re: Experience with UQC?

I have been fighting for days to not get swap-scammed by them.

Here is what happened.  I held UQC token in an Idex wallet.  They had a token upgrade with very little warning.  Anyone who held in an Idex or another DEX like Etherdelta wallet didn't get the upgraded token.  I feel it is very unethical to steal someone's money because they held that token in a Dex.  Swaps that are not perpetual are tantamount to theft.

Their support has been frustratingly inept.   They say to
1)  Check MEW wallet for new token
FFS, if I don't have the new token it won't magically show up in MEW.

2)  Ask Idex to give me new token
Idex never got distributed new token.  How/ why would they give me the new token?

Does anyone know an upper level team member from Uquid?  I am sick and tired of dealing with their incompetent support staff.  I shouldn't have to spend many hours of my time to not get scammed.

Just saw on the white paper that Crowdsale participants get 50% of the tokens, so it looks like the investor break-even number is $12 billion now in payments =(
Edited my previous post.

From their white paper:
E-commerce   worldwide   sales   in   2014   were   USD   1.33   trillion   and   are   projected   to increase   to   USD   4.058   trillion   by   2020.   E-commerce   share   of   retail   sales    is   expected to   increase   from   7.4%   in   2015   to   14.6%   in   2020

Let's be generous and say worldwide sales are 3 trillion.   Monetha would have to process 0.4% of global payments for investors to break even in a year.

6 weeks ago I tried to warn you guys (page 39)...  that this was extremely overvalued garbage.  They should have set a lower hard cap, but they were selfish and greedy and betrayed their investors.

The fair price for this is not more than 3 cents.  It's just basic third grade math...

I hope that somebody makes one with ample enough spacing to run a full 6-8 higher wattage GPUs, such as GTX 1080 Ti, Rx Vega etc.

Looks like your prayers were answered :

Colorful recently launched a 8 GPU motherboard, similar to the boards in the Pandaminer and clones.

Where is/will be the best place to buy Colorful Motherboards?  When will the 8 GPU riser-less mobo be released to the public?

payout rates will equilize as some miners switch to other coins

But payouts will equalize downwards as 90%+ people won't be taking their rigs offline.  When Ethereum profitability goes down, everything else goes down.

So if Monetha raises $30 million and the coin holders receive 0.5%, Monetha will have to process $6 billion in payments for its investors to break even?  Am I missing something?  How likely is that Monetha processes $6 billion in payments and in what time frame?  Isn't this the question we should be really asking?

agree with you.
Anyway gas suggested for ico?

It can be very difficult to find 6+ GPU motherboards online and the prices are going up.

For those of you who have 4-5 GPU rigs, what mobos are you using?

is anyone dual mining eth/etc/exp + decred with rx 470? could you please tell me your power consumption per card? Thanks

I am mining ETH+DCR. The consumption is between 95W - 101W hashing 28MH/S. I have XFX RX470's.

What is your hash rate on decred while dual mining?
