ICO Scams will exist for as long as there are people falling for them because of dreams of becoming the next crypto-millionaire.

Re: Recovery actions for stolen Bitcoin
by

We need a (paid) service to recover coins which are stolen through hacking / phishing. Just like the bankers who use the help of recovery agents to get back the amount paid out as loans.

The problem is that you can't just "pull" the BTC out of a wallet that it was sent to post-theft.

Re: do i have to pay tax on bitcoins ?

so i wanna know do i realy have to pay taxes on bitcoins and does my gov recognize bitcoins as my property and do i have to care about any legal action by  gov on my bitcoin property ?

Without knowing your specific jurisdiction, all that I can say is that some places tax bitcoin and that you should look at your home locations regulations.

Re: Cryptocurrency Lawyers for hire

Not sure why others post jibberish. This thread is for lawyers who specialize in cryptocurrency law to advertise themselves.

A lot of attorneys on this website won't post their information here. Most jurisdictions (I can only be 100% certain of the situation in the various jurisdictions within the US) regulate how you can advertise and how you can practice. If I were to post my information here and do something for someone I could EASILY lose my law license unless I was certain that I had only done work for people who were located within my jurisdiction.

Re: Does Bittrex, Coinbase/Gdax, Gemini report to the IRS?
by
kkent
on 21/11/2017, 19:24:12 UTC
Someone a while back told me they used coinbase and did some trading but they got either a 1099 or w2 for like 100k when his profit was around 20k.  He said coinbase counted transfer from his wallet to coinbase and vice versa as income.  He said he had to contact coinbase on this issue.

Does anyone know if coinbase, gdax, bittrex and those exchanges report to the IRS?  I recall it was mentioned you needed to have 20k in transactions minimum and also believe it needed to be at least 100 transaction... i believe it has to fit both criteria in order to receive a 1099 from coinbase.  Does anyone know if this is true or not?  And does that apply to now?  The thing is if you are cashing out a lot of money from btc, well say you did 30k in cashouts.  The thing though is your profit could only be 5k for example or even 1k etc.  If thats the case, would coinbase or those exchange send you a 1099 or report to the IRS that you made 30k in cashout to your bank account?  Because it seem like if thats the case, everyones 1099 would be incorrect since ppl buy bitcoin or get bitcoin and then sell it?

Also can someone here confirm coinbase is the same as gdax?  Or is it a bit different?  Does anyone know about gemini and bittrex?  I am planning to trade altcoins on bittrex and then cashout any profit i have if any using gemini to my bank account.  Thus if it show that im transferring btc from bittrex with other altcoins, would they send that to the IRS?  The thing is if you record your profit/losses correctly... isn't there still an issue because the 1099 or whatnot from them will show your total cashouts as oppose to your actual profit?  Because i know if you get any w2 from the casino etc... that is what you need to put down and if its not the same number as your w2s or 1099s, then well you will get looked at and need to explain why the numbers are different.  But would this issue arise when trading altcoins and bitcoin etc on bittrex and then cashing out to bank account with gdax or gemini?  Because imagine you have a few thousand in profit only.  But you cashed out like mid 5 figures to your bank account.  But you do a lot of buy and sells.  Would there be issues with this since they might look at your total cashouts as your profit?

I would like to know from people who used bittrex, coinbase/gdax and gemini on this issue.  Have you ever received any documents from them?  And if so, did you traded a lot in terms of money?  I assume people that do a few transactions for tiny amounts probably do not get any of this?

Thanks.

You should always assume that you have been reported, better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Do ICO's need licenses?
by
kkent
on 21/11/2017, 19:22:52 UTC
Lately there's been a lot of talk about regulation. What about ICO's?

What do you see with the ones complying with governments? It seems to be a big play longevity wise.

For ex. Unikrn got their Malta license, making esports fiat wagering legal in most of europe. Does this pave the way for future ico's? Should this be an indicator of a good, trustworthy ico?

More info: https://www.coindesk.com/regulated-cryptocurrency-betting-just-got-big-boost-europe/

I think a lot of people would comply with regulatory structures even if they don't HAVE to. The compliance could be used to make their ICO more appealing to the more "traditional" investment infrastructures in our society.

Re: WALLET SERVICES REFUND FOR STOLEN BTCs
by
kkent
on 21/11/2017, 19:20:17 UTC
I had my BTCs on GDAX and were stolen and the transaction was unauthorized by me which is obvious they were hacked.
I immediately called them in two hours as I relaized the BTCs were gone from the Wallet.
Would they help me with the refund.ITs worth 4.5 BTCs.
Any inputs on how to work on this?
Are the BTCs insured on the Wallets?

This is why you need to always use 2-factor authentication on these websites.

Not declaring bitcoin income
It is a virtual currency created by a person and put on the floor
It helps us earn money but does not mean to be declared Undecided Undecided Undecided

Legally speaking you absolutely have to declare Bitcoin income. Income is income, and most countries technically would require you to declare drug dealing income as well.

Yes that is right that still it is good time to  buy bitcoin. i am sure that even now if a person will invest money in bitcoin still he has good time to earn money. Because bitcoin has still good potential and its price can increase more and more. i think that very soon the price of bitcoin is going to hit 8000$ Therefore i think investing money in bitcoin right now will be the best decision.

It all depends on how high you realistically think that BTC will go. It would be a good investment at $100,000 if it ended up going to $200,000.

Re: Religion is like a Penis

The fact that they use it to excuse the child abuse (see recent Roy Moore defenses) is why the first two statements are false. Willful ignorance is no longer something that we as a society should tolerate. It is constantly used to excuse despicable things and the only "benefit" that people can cite is that religion makes people feel better. You know what else made children feel better? Security blankets, but we tell them to grow the fuck up and mock any adult that would dare to bring a security blanket to work, why don't we do the same with these dangerous fairytales?

The proofsuite tokensale has begun. You can find more details at http://www.proofsuite.com/token/.
For information, here are the official contract addresses :
- *Tokensale Contract* : https://etherscan.io/address/0x15eac74d043d9945823afd171677ab2f72215003
- *Proof Token Contract* : https://etherscan.io/address/0xc5cea8292e514405967d958c2325106f2f48da77

A few important guidelines:
- Only send ether to the *tokensale contract* *(0x15eac74 ..)* or via our *tokensale portal* (the link will be shared shortly)
- After contributing, you can verify your token balance on the Proof Token contract (*0xc5cea8 .. *)
- Do not send any ether to the Proof Token contract

Also, feel free to ask any questions. Cheers !

Very important to double-check and triple-check your addresses before transacting, I have seen too many people send crypto to the wrong place over the years.

Ah, just saw the video. I think the potential of this coin is being heavily underrated. Ability to create/test smart contracts and ETH tokens easily and tokenize real world assets along with legalization process is really what the crypto world needs. Gotta buy some of these Proof tokens. If the team really sticks to the plan, then this project can be hugely successful.

That's my thought as well.

HEY! This guy on Reddit is saying your ICO is only 3 days but your website says the tokensale ends in 29 days. Someone should let him know. https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7a13ql/blockchain_proofs_ico_is_live_now_until_nov_1_to/

It looks like someone corrected him and he deleted the post.

The official crowdsale begins in 35 minutes!

For verification:

ONLY send ETH to the contract at 0x15eaC74d043D9945823aFD171677ab2F72215003

Any other contract is fraudulent!

Agreed, more clarity is always a good thing when attempting to establish Blockchain confidence.

Definitely, and it has been refreshing to see such candor from these devs. They believe in their token and honestly interact with us.

Yes, for sure. I have rarely seen this, and it is especially promising when combined with the presence of those physical billboard ads.

There are several PRFT token contracts and I now have a few different PRFT tokens in my wallet (from pre-sale). Which one is correct? None are verified on etherscan.

Can we get some clarification on this devs?
Yes Please! Confusion is never good for knowing what we should hold on to.
What are their names?

The official Proof token controller address  (where to send your Ethereum) is:

https://etherscan.io/address/0x15eac74d043d9945823afd171677ab2f72215003

And the Official Proof Token (PRFT) is located here:

https://etherscan.io/address/0xc5cea8292e514405967d958c2325106f2f48da77

Any other PRFT from any other contracts are merely test contracts for the presale delivery (which should already be allocated to you) or an illegitimate contract.

BTW this is Tai from Proofsuite.

-Tai
Thank you. Will you please "claim" or "verify" the contract 0xc5cea8292e514405967d958c2325106f2f48da77 on Etherscan so it stands out in the list?
