There is still time to buy some bitcoins. But I'm guessing that this increase is going to take only for a week until we reach 2-3 days before this month ends. And for sure there will be a rapid dip too, so we dont have to wait for that time. If you can avail to purchase bitcoin today, buy.
With altcoin can mining as LTC compare with token platform for sending money fast as XRP, I think LTC better than XRP.

People are sell their coins holding because of the upcoming August 1 hardfork issues! Panic is the reason why people are sell even at lose currently before even the events happened. Most likely into dumping stage possible because of this upcoming segwit that will happen in august1. Yes, panic selling happen and I believe when downtrend is the best time to buy. We cannot predict at what price its dip but buy for now for sure we can earn profit in the long term.I was looking at the price history of the top 50 coins and they all seem to have very similar price charts. They all seem to have spiked up the first half of this year even if they have been around for several years. My question is what caused all these altcoins to surge up in value so much?
Because in first half of 2017, BTC has been growth strong and stable, then ETH and XRP join this trend and prove 2017 is year of cryptocurrency with growth ratio change 1000-4000% just in short time. After that happens, all market are increasing and just need buying, you can become rich man 
. But this trend ended in June and make bearish trend until todayI am holding on to my coins as well with 40% losses on paper, I believe the price will rise again.
And yes, I agree that if I sold the all coins before the dip, I will have the opportunity to buy at lower price. Hence these are my losses now.
Selling at now is bad choice, you just have low ratio opportunity for buy dip with the price now in market, most trader are holding their crypto or take loss in past crash or go to FIAT and USDT for waiting the price falldown and buy dip as you. And yes, I agree that if I sold the all coins before the dip, I will have the opportunity to buy at lower price. Hence these are my losses now.

I think it's better if you buy bitcoin now if you have the capital but don't buy them all in bulk, diversify or divide the budget you have intended to buy bitcoin and buy them everytime the bitcoins price dips. That's called averaging too.
