I’m writing in here to partially retract some of my earlier statements. Few weeks ago I finally did receive my coins in full and as advertised. While I continue to be unhappy about delivery speed, I have to admit that GoldSilverBitcoin in general and Justin in particular have handled the situation well. Whereas I continue to think that I will never use this site again, my earlier statements about the site being dishonest or or/and the operator being incompetent now feel overly exaggerated.

Re: Cryptsy Bot Project

Beware as Cryptsy.com is known to lose finds and be unfriendly for automation. On April 28 , 2014 I’ve attempted to withdraw some coins from Cryptsy.com. The withdrawal got stuck and never came through. After opening two separate tickets (#128955, #131570) and having bunch of futile exchanges with a person(s) named “Phoebe”, it became apparent that:

a) I won’t see my money back.

b) Cryptsy managed to lose track of my funds, could not provide transaction numbers and was not interested in working with me on finding the problem.

Never mind, found it.It turns out I just had to change the request type to POST, the parameters still travel via URL (this is silly). In case you wonder the full command is:

curl --data-binary '' "http://my-host.com/nxt?requestType=getAccountId&secretPhrase=whatever-is-clever"

Hey guys, what is the POST equivalent of this call:

curl "http://my-host.com/nxt?requestType=getAccountId&secretPhrase=whatever-is-clever"

I've tried:

curl --data-binary '{"requestType": "getAccountId", "secretPhrase":"whatever-is-clever"}' http://my-host.com/nxt

but it does not work

The short answer is you have to walk the entire chain & collect outputs pointing to your address. This would likely take hours

The long answer is here: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/10090/how-to-get-an-addresss-balance-with-the-bitcoin-client

Feature Request: Allow altcoin deposits from Ripple
by
kwilliams
on 24/02/2014, 09:16:01 UTC
Many ripple users are holding alt-coins (LTC, DOGE, etc) inside the Ripple network and looking for ways to trade them around.
By allowing altcoin deposits from Ripple to Cryptsy you will gain additional business and new loyal customers.
Such features already exist in the competition (https://justcoin.com, https://www.kraken.com, etc)

Re: Self Regulation Or Else ... Govt Intervention

You can achieve safety trough regulation.  However it impedes progress and leads to corruption. Eventually you pay for this safety dearly as you are robbed by the system every minute of every day.  If safety is your goal, I suggest studying slave and feudal societies. Most were relatively safe even by today’s standards.
