Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place.

i don't see the point of ASICS saving power as well. Not bashing here but ASICS saving power i can't comprehend. People would just end up buying more asics and hash and in the end what you will have would be same or more power consumption with higher network hashrate and difficulty. Profit would simply readjust and be the same in times like this. ASICS in general i feel is sort of like a nuclear arms race.

The only time i see asics being a viable choice would be perhaps a portfolio diversification where you have x amount of GPU and require x amount of asics to balance your mining venture.

For those w/ 1080/1080ti's

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3370685.0

http://cryptomining-blog.com/9757-get-up-to-about-50-mhs-on-eth-with-gtx-1080-ti-and-ohgodanethlargementpill/

It's a tool that injects modified gddr5x memory timings during runtime. Kicks the ethash up another notch

I saw this, is this something that can be used to boost hashpower for Cryptonightv7 aswell? I've always tought about Ethash and Cryptonight as the same memory intense algorithms but maybe im wrong? Someone should know this here!  Huh

Tested on XMR/using Claymore and Stak -- and gets a boost around 10% more, probably due to Cryptonite is not as memory heavy as ETH and ZEC.

I tested on ETH and it's impressive ~ easy 50mhs per 1080ti

I will not be surprised if the PILL can boost ZEC mining impressively too (testing as soon as I get more 1080ti off Linux to WIN10)

I experimented giving the pill to the LUX miner (z-enemy-v1.08 on WIN10, 1080ti) -- and mining went BEAST MODE !

As long as you have big GDDR5X, like what the 1080/1080ti have - the PILL should work???

SMOS dev is testing the PILL currently under Linux ... hope this can be reality soon.

Guess the saying hashrate hardener for big packages hold true.  Grin really is an amazing tool for 1080ti owners

I also have issues with the payout of LTC, no support available, are they on vacation? no message since Saturday.  Grin

So I am not the only one with the withdrawal problem.
I also tried to withdraw LTC and got the same error.
Support not responding to my messages.
Maybe they have some problems I guess.
We will see today.

now would be an interesting time to see if eth miners would actually switch over to monero and ease on nethash and difficulty. if eth nethash shows no remorse and  difficulty still increase in a steep manner i guess we already know who is at play. interesting yet difficult times ahead.  Shocked

shitmain really needs to be taught a lesson, but considering the amount of capital they have now, it's hard to make a dent on them. they are probably laughing their asses off mining with F3 silently, damn gayhan man.

Right now I'm concerned cause I really thought the asic companies would never build a cryptonight asic cause that is too shameful, cryptonight is the last defense right now against all evil in the money world. This is really bad, those companies don't have a single bit of decency or morality whatsoever.

The ASIC producers, cheat their buyers several times.

- D3 Dash miner: todays profit 3.96USD (if You calculate the electric power cost, not profitable at all)
- L3 Litecoin miner: todays profit 8.2USD (hardly profitable)
- S9 SHA256 miner: todays profit 9.98USD (with small drop of BTC will not be profitable)

Some of those units people bought for over 3000USD. Now they have only noisy heaters, and lost their money.

What a business model! Produce the unit, take money from buyers in advance, put it in mining farm for 3 months while it is very profitable, and than deliver it like used ones. Make a huge oversold of units and algo diff. skyrocket, profitability ZERO.
They know what they are doing, and doing it with every new model. Huge hype on the beginning (representing big profitability at moment), presale etc... Only early adopters can profit, all others, when they receive units, have very long period of ROI.
I hope that new buyers will understand this "ponzi scheme" and protect their money.

Regarding this new "cryptonight miner", I think that this will be the first time We have here antihype atmosphere.
Monero team  (biggest Cryptonight coin) announce antiASIC fork, followed by other (IPBC etc...). All other cryptonight coins do not have enough daily trade volume, and when we will have more coins than it can be sold price will drop.
Coin owners invest lot in their coins, I believe they will protect projects, and will follow the Monero, IPBC etc...in anti ASIC algo change.
It is much better than see the prices around one satoshi.

umm maybe you should look up the definition of Ponzi scheme. sure its a shitty  business model but its far from a Ponzi, your implying that people are dishing out money and not getting anything back in return which isn't the case, those buyers are getting asics, theres always risk involved with those and to disregard that is just stupid just like calling it a Ponzi scheme which it is not. those that get suckered into a true Ponzi DONT GET ANYTHING BACK and they LOSE IT ALL

i think g3 coins should have something like x16r with multiple chained algos, i think that should deter if not resist asic from messing up the networks

i think we can keep track with the difficulty level of ETH to see how much is true about the F3, but i do not like what i'm seeing with the difficulty chart of january to february, i hope it's just millions of gpu being deployed, remember the difficulty spike of dash before D3 ? hope they fork the shit outta shitmain.

Yeah those are onda mobos plus cases that are on alibaba. Really nice cases with overkill 3700rpm fans. Keeps my 1070ti minis at 60 degrees.
That shirt will be drying very very quickly, that's for sure! Cheesy

How much are you paying in rent for this type of room, if you don't mind sharing? How many rigs will you stack in there?

54 rigs will be stacked there, 432 cards. 88x 1050ti are coming which takes up 11 rig space. The remaining space can be filled with 150-180W tdp gpu rigs like 1070tis.

Rent is $250 USD a month.

The fans are so powerful that the clothing rack will topple over! I wish the rig cases have the option of fans between 2000-3000rpm.
i'm curious though how do you deal with noise and attention, with the spate of break ins do you employ some sort of noise dampening or reduction to bring down the overall noise and attention from the fans ?

hello everyone

I'm new in mining, just bought the hardware for my first 6 GPU mining rig.
I read that when POW change to POS everything will change and mining will stop being profitable... If True, why and how is that? And when will it be?

thanks for the help!!
it will be when amd and nvidia decides to pack their bags... FAT CHANCE
