Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAV COIN - ANONYMOUS TECH. ● NAV 2.0 SOON ● NEW ROADMAP ● CHAT ●
by

on 03/05/2016, 09:10:14 UTC
I'm trying to download the whole blockchain using last commit from github in Linux (ubuntu).

I was stuck at block 2271722. It was not possible to download more blocks as the checkpoint gives an error:

Quote
ERROR: AcceptBlock() : rejected by hardened checkpoint lock-in at 2271723
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : AcceptBlock FAILED

OK, so I look at the source at:

https://github.com/navcoindev/navcoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L101

And I find the following checkpoints:

Quote
static const uint256 CheckBlock43 ("5f24d8893ab34814b691245e5bdac14f06867d9a9b7016a5d64a2e8e4d571b1c"); // Checkpoint at block 2271723
static const uint256 CheckBlock44 ("6afa0ca1da91252d17efaab0eabdb7deff60d80684e12d6045c3766dcc00d0f7"); // Checkpoint at block 2586565

Now I go to the blockexplorer at http://navcoin.org/block-explorer, and I see that the checkpoints that are hardcoded at the source code are wrong!!

http://www.navcoin.org/abe/block/28fe0c8048a2464cac916d2a699f8f7ce3a7d0facfc1c0001cef83b6a2b4b52b

Block 2271723 has a hash value of 28fe0c8048a2464cac916d2a699f8f7ce3a7d0facfc1c0001cef83b6a2b4b52b !!

Same thing happens with block 2586565.

After I removed these checkpoints from the published sourcecode, I am able to continue downloading the blockchain.

Can someone explain me how is possible that these checkpoints are wrong??

Thanks

This is the GorillaBucks.conf file, the masternode.conf is just supposed to contain the stuff previously posted now in red.

I believe that masternode.conf is not supported.

Re: [ANN] Snowballs | ONE MORE HARD FORK to BALLS 2.0.2 | BALLS/MMXIV Market OPEN

He probably didn't do anything wrong. Deleting log files which have no function serves no purpose. There is an underlying problem. Restarting, rescanning and repairing seems to fix temporarily but the error always comes back. Sometimes after a few minutes sometimes after hours, sometimes after a re-start of the client. It's not the size of the log file that is a problem. If you start the client with full logging enabled the log file ends up ten times the size. It doesn't seem to stop the wallet working though. I've been getting stakes too, whilst the error is displayed but often when re-starting the wallet I end up with double my real balance until a further restart/rescan.........not too worried. It'll get resolved.

What I see at the debug.log file is:

Code:
Added time data, samples 14, offset -3 (+0 minutes)
version message: version 60008, blocks=361988
REORGANIZE
REORGANIZE: Disconnect 10294 blocks; c5d58fb33aaef0f16a6c..6ee7b223b9ce545c0d39
REORGANIZE: Connect 56 blocks; c5d58fb33aaef0f16a6c..4c2a420566853c9a6282

************************
EXCEPTION: 11DbException
Db::put: Cannot allocate memory
Snowballs in ProcessMessages()

ProcessMessage(checkpoint, 110 bytes) FAILED

I suspect that a node running an old version 2.0.1 tries to connect and causes a reorganization, but fails. Just after the fork the 2.0.1 nodes were successful because the blocks to reorganize were only a few, but now 10,000 blocks are too many blocks.

I've been able to stake today after getting that message, so I guess it is not a big issue ...

I have still some ETD on Bittrex and I must withdraw it immediately (delisted by Bittrex) but my wallet is not sync. Please help to fix it ! or show me where can I keep it ?

I have not seen "ethereumderk.conf" . Where can I find it ?

Sincere thanks !

Download last version from https://github.com/liteuser/EthereumDark/releases. It should sync correctly, but if you still have problems then add these two lines to your ethereumdark.conf:

addnode=seednode1.ethereumdark.com
addnode=seednode2.ethereumdark.com

Check with the explorer that you are synced: http://cryptobe.com/chain/EthereumDarkCoin

Liteuser, I really would like to see you takeover this coin. Your reputation precedes you. Is there any other way to get a copy of the source code? Does github have backups? What about archive.org? The wallet works very well, it just needs a leader.

There is already a copy at https://github.com/liteuser/EthereumDark that I hope you are already using as your wallet. Otherwise you won't be able to stake.

But it seems to me that you and other people are thinking of someone else and not me when you talk about reputation. I'll bet you're confusing my nick with someone else  Wink

So, I don't get it, did you create ETD?

Well, I sent a message to sevith some days ago to ask him to give me control of the EthereumDark bitcointalk, twitter and github accounts. I may have been too direct. That led him to post here in this thread.

After that, I pointed him to some references in the original github EthereumDark code that mentioned him (now you can look at them here):

https://github.com/liteuser/EthereumDark/blob/9c4a7bf4ec0039158971d07b55111c8bf7d2a008/src/obj/checkpoints.P#L13

He said someone had forked his GNS or CAM coins, and denied being ETD developer. But the source code at https://github.com/Ethereumdark/ disappeared at a few minutes after that.

You can draw your own conclusions. Anyway doesn't really matter who created the coin. What interested me the most was to control the twitter account to post updates.

Re: [RE-ANN][TRK] ★ Truckcoin ★ Pure PoS ϟ up to 200% per year ϟ Wallet v0.9.7.2
by
liteuser
on 22/12/2014, 17:20:38 UTC
I don't understand what happened here... developer halved the POS rate and told no one?

Well, he told (NVC emphasis mine) almost a month in advance:

Truckcoin wallet v0.9.7.1 released - a mandatory update!

New features:

# On Thursday, 18 Dec 2014 20:23:23 GMT a hard fork will occur:
    - PoS reward limit per block will be set to 200 TRK.
    - NVC inflation control will be enabled.
    - All clients below v.0.9.7 will be disconnected.
# Block money supply info added to block explorer
# -wallet option to specify wallet file - can be used as startup parameter -wallet=yourwalletfile.dat
# Total amount field added to overview page.
# HYP network interference fix.
# Unlock wallet option added to Wallet menu.
# -splitthreshold option - staking engine will not split blocks with size below splitthreshold amount. default 30 , max. 300
    Can be used as command line option or setting in .conf file or can be set in Qt wallet gui in Settings > Options > Main
# -staking option to disable minting: staking=0 will disable pos minting.

I think the reason for the change is that noise is also working on TEK, where everybody is happy with NVCS, including some people disagreeing here.

Initially nobody complained, except for someone having problems syncing after the hardfork, until 10 days later or so, when they realized that NVC inflaction control means that the rate decreases.

After the hardfork the rate depends on the current difficulty following an algorithm developed first for Novacoin (hence the name) and right now it is 50% or so (type getmininginfo in the console and see "stakeinterest") instead of having a constant 200%.

LOL. January?!?! This coin wont be around then. The ass has fallen out , because dev will not answer. I told him days ago , he needs to address this...like.. now! This is were we sit right now:

A hardfork cannot be done without thinking. Changing the code is not the problem. Coordinating things so everyone knows it and the exchange/s make the change, that needs time.

EDIT:

NVCS has been working in other coins without issues: NVC, HBN. I don't think it is a bad think. On the contrary, it is good for the health of the blockchain. Just stake when the difficulty is low.

BTW, I doubt that the decrease of the interest rate from 200% to 100% has that much influence on the prize. Also, if you move back to a constant 200%, do you really think that the coin value will suddenly grow? Some months ago (August, September) the coin was valued like now: 100 to 300 satoshis (and the volume was similar to now).

What could be changed are the NVCS parameters so when it hits the interest decrease is smoother. A possible idea is to fine tune their values so the decrease from 200% is smaller.

linux ? ))

1.
./tekcoind stop

2.

delete ONLY files in ~/.tekcoin:
blk0001.dat
blkindex.dat

3.
in ~/.tekcoin load and unzip file bootstrap.dat from

http://richlist.truckcoin.net/tekbootstrap.zip

4.
start:
./tekcoind -daemon
wait for the result 1..2 hours

Yes linux. I was using an old backup up to block 65000 or so that was on the right blockchain. I will try the bootstrap, thanks.

I'm having trouble to reach the right fork. My peers are all connected to the right fork:

./tekcoind getpeerinfo | grep heigh
        "startingheight" : 692223,
        "startingheight" : 692223,
        "startingheight" : 692223,
        "startingheight" : 692223,
        "startingheight" : 692223,
        "startingheight" : 692215,
        "startingheight" : 692226,
        "startingheight" : 692229,

but I cannot pass block 683657, one block before the checkpoint.

I get the warning:

"errors" : "WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."

I cannot use getblockhash to verify where I am:

./tekcoind getblockhash 1
error: {"code":-2,"message":"Safe mode: WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."}

I have updated to the last version:

    "version" : "v2.2.0.0-gf96a5a-TEK",

Do I need to keep trying or use connect instead of addnode?

Thanks

I've just checked https://c-cex.com/?p=etd-btc and I see that they are also current with the number of blocks so they have updated too.

Empoex told me 2 days ago that they were delayed but were going to update too. Maybe they have updated by now. I will test it once I've got a bit of time.

I've done some updates to github these past days:

- remove zerocoin
- increase protocol version to 70001 (the idea is to disconnect in a week or so from pre-fork peers running version 1.1.0)
- add checkpoint 16500
- add getstaketx rpc command. Example:

Quote
./ethereumdarkd getstaketx 1a88ac885e6dfddd1f59f07b79b43bde5acf085206431cf224b310a9f870e7b9
{
    "Stake TX Time" : 1418113271,
    "Previous Time" : 1418072867,
    "Days To Stake" : 0.46763889,
    "Original Amount" : 386.32000000,
    "PoS Reward" : 0.49495412,
    "Reward %" : 0.12812024,
    "Total New Amount" : 386.81495412,
    "Size of Each New Block" : 193.40747706
}

The size of each new block is approximate.

I will release a new windows wallet once I fix the chat that was not working. I think it only adds bloat to have a chat in the wallet, but since it was already there I am trying to fix it. It is almost done, but I don't have time today to work on it.

Any updates Dev ?

bittrex has not yet updated. I'm sending them another message.

BTW, the blockchain is working correctly now. POS blocks are being generated as expected.

It takes time to audit and bring things back online... patience Smiley

Wallet is back online...

Great! Thanks Richie!

https://bittrex.com/Status shows the status as normal and the number of blocks is correct, so everything should be ok.

Those of you that attempted some days ago to withdraw from bittrex should have by now received your coins.

I know that it says on the OP 100% POS interest for first 30 days, can that start when everything is working correctly, including withdrawls from Bittrex. As we cannot stake coins that have been frozen, and when we do finally withdraw, coin age is 0.

I gave 2 days to the exchanges to make the change as I was hoping that they where going to be quick to update. Richie from bittrex told me that as long as the blockchain was unchanged and the funds on bittrex where the same they would accept the hardfork. I guess they are too busy now.

Interest in the coin was fading, I really couldn't wait more days.

The coinage after the withdrawal will be 0, but you can stake after only 8 hours.

BTW, the current POS values are:

Not sure if I've been clear enough with the specs after the hardfork:

POS Interest: 100%
Min stake Age: 8h
Max stake Age: 20 days
POS Starts at block 13999
POS % interest will half every 60 days until a minimum POS of 10% (the halving starts after the first 60 days)

There is a maximum stake reward of 250 ETD (i.e. if your stake produces a reward of more than 250 coins then you only get 250 coins.

EDIT: the 60 days are computed assuming a block every minute, i.e, 1440 blocks each day. The halving phase starts at block 1440x60 = 86400.

Therefore:

        0 to 13998       no POS
  13999 to 86400       POS interest 100%
  86400 to 86400*2 = 172800 POS interest 100%
172800 to 86400*3 = 259200 POS interest 50%
259200 to 86400*4 = 345600 POS interest 25%
345600 to 86400*5 = 432000 POS interest 12.5%
from 432000              POS interest 10%

Since the POS phase started around 52 hours ago there have been only 1186 blocks (the first 24 hours almost no blocks where generated).

i've updated the suprnova pool to the latest wallet, you can now withdraw your remaining coins

Thanks for that! Your wallet alone has moved more than 200 blocks the blockchain. That's enough to keep it moving.

The POS difficulty has raised to 4 with those blocks.

BTW the latest commit removes zerocoin:

I staked the little bit of coins I had and pushed two blocks. Adding 2000 POW blocks would get the block chain moving again.

Thanks! I see that we have moved a few blocks.

I feel that POW is needed to get everything (exchanges included) moving again.

The changes of the code are easy. Do you prefer a ninja relaunch Smiley (i.e. I update the github repository and both post here and in a new thread to let you know so you can start mining), or to give an advanced notice of 2 or 3 days?

Well, almost a day has past and there have been very few POS block generated. Some people are still running the old version.

I guess most of the coins are at the exchanges. If we don't move at least 120 blocks, the blockchain cannot continue as the new coins generated need to mature.

I see that there is some interest on the coin. I will like to make a proposal since otherwise the coin will be dead.

What do you think of adding some POW blocks: 2000 or so. This will allow people to move from the exchanges to their wallets and start generating enough POS blocks to make it POS only as originally designed by the OP.

2000 blocks with a reward of 5 ETD mean 10000 more ETDs. Since there are currently 1.5 million ETD, the inflation will be low.

Do you think that a new thread with a RE-ANN can be useful? Those with the old version may not be reading this thread anymore ...

The POS phase has already started: http://cryptobe.com/chain/EthereumDarkCoin
You can already open your wallet for POS.

There are still people using pre-fork version 1.1.0, remember to update.

I've still got no confirmation from the exchanges.

bittrex and empoex have answered to my messages, but they haven't confirmed the move yet, so please do not withdraw for now.
