Router set as - Bridged , RouteWithNAT, RouteWithoutNAT
by
longman77

Like it says just an Arris cable router which really is a router with a modem.
Which router connection method for a hardwired connect do you think would be the best to connect to an Antminer S7, S9 or V9?

I have tried RoutewithNAT and can get in and read some data from Antminer but cannot write anything.

Tried Bridged and could not even get router to see Antminer. IP Scanner will not show any IP's connected, but some computers on network do work.

Tried RoutewithoutNAT but cannot get that to work at all.

Any ideas?

WTS - V9 For Parts $60 Shipped - NO LONGER Available

V9 for parts - Maybe just software problems.

Possible permissions / rights on my  network but I cannot get it to bring the web interface up.

With some luck you may get it to work but I have NOT been able to.

                           NO GUARANTEE

Unit physically appears and looks like new.  I can send pictures.

V9 appears to run OK but cannot connect to my network. So after many tries and different ideas to fix am going to sell it for parts.
Bought it recently under terms that do not allow me to return it.

Advanced IP Scanner easily finds IP address
IP Reporter button works and shows IP address and MAC address.  Unit will NOT reset using either reset button or IP Report button method.

As best I can see the red lights on all 3 hash boards are on. Many green lights on control board.

I believe from the heat generated and the red hash board lights that the hash boards work but no guarantee.

Paypal or Post Office Money Order --- Might take BTC have Coinbase acct just never used it. Coach me a little and I will try it.

Located in Florida  Spacecoast area

$60 shipped lower 48 USA.

-----------------------------

NEW INFO  - Hash boards appear to work but still NO GUARANTEE  selling as parts only.

New info - Hash boards all appear to work confirmed using bitmaintools  binary of the web interface. Still cannot access to change anything but can look in and see a lot of info.  These tests done 1 hash board at a time as I only have a 750 watt psu available at the moment.

Looks like the 9 series of Antminers and maybe more use LightTPD web server software  in their control board software.
Found this after reading up on the fault I get  --  LightTPD Unauthorized

Appears that sometimes the web server is looking for id / password prior to moving on to the Antminer web pages.

Any one have any ideas of what the default LightTPD id and password might be as used in Antminers. I have tried all the options available using root and/or admin = no go.

Has any one looked at the control board on a V9?  It is a single board without the piggy back board most of the S3, S5, S7, S9 type controllers have.

New design  maybe = new problems.

Thoughts?

Re: Advanced IP Scanner reports access denied

Might be rights/permission between router (Arris) and the Antminer.

Any one know how to check rights or permissions?

Edit -- Update ------- Update   ---------- UPDATE

learned first post in this thread incorrect. The screen where it asks for id and password at first I thought that was the Antminer login screen. Now I see it is NOT the Antminer login screen.

It is a screen showing that the Antminer has no rights to connect to the router and it is asking for id and password. I tried the router id and password but no go.

It is able to supply an ip to advanced ip scanner and it will also find the ip and mac address via the Bitman IP finder by pushing the report button.

So, very sure it is a rights / permission problem. I am searching for data of how to set rights but so far no luck. I can login to the router but find no method of setting rights.

Have tried resetting every way possible - no go.

Used item bought. Thought about changed password but why would that show up in ipscanner even before any id or password is asked?

Have SD card but not ready to try that yet.

Will look into Putty but I am not familiar with SSH but should be able to find password info.

Advanced IP Scanner reports access denied
by

on 06/07/2018, 18:15:50 UTC
Before any attempt to look at miner via web interface just looking for it with IP Scanner get this.

Click on small triangle to left of ip findings =

HTTP 401 - unauthorized (lighttpd 1.4.32)

Once you goto web interface and try to logon with root root box just keeps asking for id and password.

Any ideas where this comes from?  How to fix?

on a different antminer that is working ip says

HTTP LuCI Lua http config

Re: Restoring Bitmain Firmware (V9, T9+, others)
by

I think after much reading I know the sequence.

Note in DaveF link above there is a V9 version of the firmware.

So first you download v9-SD Tools.zip

Then unzip that and get :
DiskImager    Application  88 KB    and      S2S4S5S7-img   Disk Image File  512,000 KB

Then - using the Diskimager program -  you put the S2S4S5S7-img file onto your SD Card. Then load the SD card software into your miner on a startup.

With luck you should end up with a miner that will get into the normal miner program.

Then using the update function from within the miner you update with Antminer-V9-20180312-600M.tar  which you should have downloaded to your computer previously.

The only file that ever gets put onto the SD card is the S2S4S5S7-img   Disk Image File

I would feel better if the name of this file included V9 but the title does say v9-SD Tools.zip

The main software ( Antminer-V9-20180312-600M.tar ) gets updated from within your computer NOT the SD Card.

At this point I am not ready to try this so cannot say it works. Use at your own risk!

Comments please if you think this is the correct method or is a wrong method.

There seems to be very little info available on how to use the SD Card. Maybe they think it is so easy us newbies should already know.

Here are the files from the above posted link.

Which are needed on the SD Card?

If S2S4S5S7-img is one of the needed files and the V9 .tar is the other  is it a two step process?

That is burn the S2S4S5S7-img first then on another SD card run the .tar file   Huh?

or can you just put all the files on one SD card and let it run?

These two files from Tools and Instructions to Image SD card

DiskImager    Application  88 KB

S2S4S5S7-img   Disk Image File  512,000 KB

 -------------------

Antminer-V9-20180312-600M.tar    gz Archive  16,459
BOOT.bin   BIN file   2.688  KB
devicetree.dtb   DTB file  8 KB
uImage    File  3,762 KB
uramdisk.image  gz Archive  12,441  KB

Is there a problem with V9 login? The V9 that I have gets past login. The V9 has spinning fans, hot air and flashing green lights. I can find IP with advanced IP. When I put that IP into Firefox or Chrome browser I get the proper login form. When I type in the (user name) root and (password) root then hit enter, the login form goes away briefly then comes back with the user name and password blank. When looked at with AdvancedIP click on V9 entry it says "does not have permission".

Thanks for the info. Just what I was looking for.

With consideration for variables this data is close enough.

Coins earned question???

Someone who mines 24/7 and has a mostly stable hash rate - How many coins did you earn from one of the last blocks found and what was your hash rate.

I see in the top 50 active miners it looks like a fair number of people are running maybe one S9 (hash rate shows as around 14). Assuming your machine runs most of the time what amount of coins did you get when the last block was found?

I am looking to see what a constant on S9 might earn when a new block is found and yes I know there are variables but just looking for an approx idea.

Wyoming passes Utility Token Bill - Not a Security or a Commodity
by
longman77
on 13/03/2018, 23:05:08 UTC
The Utility Token bill was designed to exempt specific cryptocurrencies from state money transmission laws and is the first of its kind to legally define the way in which specific types of crypto tokens are treated by regulatory bodies. The bill excludes “developers or sellers” of tokens from securities laws under the caveat that they meet certain conditions. In order to meet these requirements, the token must not be offered as an investment and must be a vehicle for exchange as a utility token.

The state of Wyoming is the first elected body in the world to define a utility token as a new type of asset class different from a security or commodity,” Caitlin Long, co-founder of the Wyoming Blockchain Coalition, told me. “This has been a hot topic in Washington D.C. recently, as the SEC considers cryptocurrencies to be securities, FinCEN says they’re generally money, and the CFTC views them as commodities. Now, however, you have a state coming out and defining utility tokens as a new form of property, and property is generally the purview of state law.

41 Thps -- Wow

What does one have to yield that kinda of hash power?

Almost 3000 S9's??? and a small nuclear power plant to power them??

or is there some type of hardware that can scale up to those levels without 3000+ machines?

The 4 green leds on the controller board - What do they show and what is their normal display for a working miner?

My not working S5 shows 4 of the on for a minute or so at startup then just one blinks.
