Re: [ANN] [BTCV] Bitcoin VaultA higher standard in security

Still not sure why people use the Bitcoin name in their own name unless trying to fool people. Hopefully not the case. Good luck.
Logically, there's a reason why these projects attaching their names to bitcoin. They can get many attentions to it just like bitcoin is getting but it doesn't mean that they can get as much as bitcoin is getting.

Majority of the projects that has the same name as bitcoin's are forks. I think it just came to their mind that the other forks became popular so there's also a chance that their project will go as the others did but I don't think they will.

I feel it shows lack of imagination and trying to gain attention by using the same name. Keeps me away from those projects.
You said it correctly bro.

They have to think of another name if they really want it. But the same as you, I don't give that much attention to those kind of projects that's using bitcoin's name. Yeah, we have commented and posted here and gave a bit of our attention but it doesn't mean that we'll invest.

Anyway, good luck to the project op.

Thnx Sir

There is no denying the fact that having bitcoin attached to a coin's name will attract some users especially those newbies in crypto. However, it is up to them how they can utilize the usage of it, whether for the real thing or not. But seems that they are trying to offer real services here as they already have an app. They have been in the market for quite some time already also.

And also, found some reviews of their app. Are those issues resolved already?

We contacted these users, it turned out that they simply simply didn’t correctly backup their wallet

[ANN] [BTCV] Bitcoin VaultA higher standard in security

Decentralized Digital Mining Standard

Bitcoin Vault (BTCV) is the first blockchain to adapt to the Decentralized Digital Mining Standard (DDMS)
of World Digital Mining Organization Inc. (WDMO).
Contact World Digital Mining Organization Inc. (WDMO) at contact@digitalmining.org if you are interested in being
a member under the conditions of Decentralized Digital Mining Standard (DDMS).

Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision of Bitcoin introduced a decentralized network bringing together individuals who can each connect to the network and use their computing power to confirm transactions and receive rewards for their proof of work (PoW). With the gradual increase in the price of Bitcoin, mining has become a profitable occupation and very quickly turned into an industry worth billions. Professional Bitcoin mining systems were created and the search for cheap electricity around the globe began in earnest.

Today, the lack of decentralization of Bitcoin mining is apparent. Approximately 70% of Bitcoin’s mining activities are conducted in China, with the rest of the farms located in countries with globally competitive electricity prices. In addition, there is a small group of miners on the market which alone operate a significant portion of Bitcoin’s mining capacity. Over 50% of the Bitcoin mining network is in the hands of just four or five pools. Other cryptocurrencies which rely on PoW, like Bitcoin Cash, have a significantly smaller hashrate, which makes them highly vulnerable to a 51% attack.

Recognizing the risk associated with this, World Digital Mining Organization Inc. decided to take a step forward and prepare a new Decentralized Digital Mining Standard (DDMS). The aim of the standard is to:

● create geopolitical balance by fair distribution of mining power across different geographies,
● sustain mining profitability at the appropriate level,
● protect cryptocurrencies from those with huge mining power who hope to conduct a 51% attack.

Geographical diversity is vital for DDMS in order to reduce the effects of political, financial, and social limitations in any one country or region. Mining profitability has decreased as competition has vigorously increased throughout the past decade. The potential for 51% attacks is potentially imminent for numerous cryptocurrency projects. WDMO plans to provide a solution to these problems with DDMS.

DDMS will be open to every cryptocurrency eager to adopt it. To adopt DDMS it will be necessary to go through an audit procedure, which will confirm a proper level of decentralization, transparency and security. Every cryptocurrency and miner who would like to work under DDMS would need a proper license given by WDMO.
DDMS will regulate parameters, which are crucial to mining:

● limited network hash power – enforce decisions based on open voting of community members (democratic based decisions for the benefit of the cryptocurrency),
● sophisticated algorithm – to protect mining profitability,
● new members – geographically diverse locations subjected to detailed auditing.

Development of this new protocol is in progress. The first version of the white paper detailing implementation will be released in Q3 2020.

We welcome and encourage potential contributors to join this consortium towards a new industry standard.

i also have an issue with the difficulty setting..they say they use vardiff but they do not have that option for me to check it. i need to manually put in a value for minimum difficulty. how the fuck can i choose vardiff? also this is the only one pool that is not nicehash compatible because of this shit. if anyone knows what setting should i use for minimum diff please advise.
Nope, not the only pool.

Mine is also, I block rentals and stop them whenever I find them - rentals are a financial risk to mining, due to the fact they make a financial gain from withholding blocks if they are not detected.
i think i did mine with miners and also with rented hashing power on kano..but that was in the good ol' days. i would surely want to see more blocks from kano Smiley and from the pool operator point of view more hashing power more blocks more fees colected..and your 5X block system of reward was good in keeping the mining hoppers away. slush has also a good system against this.
now, back to my issue.... Smiley))

Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development
by
majestymage

Are we sure that the Ethereum network is secured?
Sure Cryptopia must have had a terrible security, they take forever to even do a simple fork (for example over a month for ARK, one the few top 50 coins they've listed which is forking less than once every year for big updates). I didn't expect them to have top-notch security systems and procedures.

I don't think the hacker has stolen small-cap altcoins, their price would crush on the news of the hack and the hacker would have gone through the trouble for nothing... that is if Cryptopia was transparent enough to announce the name of the hacked blockchain.
Right now we can only guess, and it seems only Ethereum's wallet and its shit-tokens have been stolen. Could it be thanks to FPGAs/ASICs in combination with the reduced interest from individual miners?

I was afraid that the attack on ETC was a test to prepare for a hack to ETH, maybe the hack to Cryptopia is related.
i am pretty sure that other blockchains are also affected..they said significant losses...so...we will see

But was your account hacked or did the exchange stole your money? Why did you reported the account as hacked?
let's say that i have trusted a official channel and some 3rd party not related to them(let's admit for a moment that the admin of the official group is not affiliated with them) got access to my account. but if that was the case they would have secured my other funds. like any legit exchange out there. but they did not do that. they let him further steal all of my funds so this is a sign of bad intention and a inside job.
